why does it even matter what the singer looks like??

You may not be upper class or souless, but it seems to me the majority of their fans, from the UK anyway, are the people that truly believe Hope's and Fears was innovative. It wasn't though, was it? A blend of every band you've ever heard before, with all the good bits taken out. I like my music like I like my orange juice, with bits in. Not commercial toff music. They're sort of prune juice.... not even cranberry.

as long as one likes the music, why does everything has to be innovative? having said that: a band that uses only keyboards and drums is pretty rare nowadays. so i really don't see what you mean by "a blend of every band you've ever heard before". you obviously haven't heard a lot of music in your life...

And when it comes to stage presence, it simply doesn't exist.

i disagree also. saw them in one night with several other bands (including kings of leon, mark lanegan, soulwax and some others) and they were the best by far. a lot of energy, great connection to the audience etc. etc.
to me, this is much more important than bands that use extra lights/video screens etc just too distract from their awful playing live
