I love it, but I don't think it would be a good live song.

you sort of get the feeling nowadays though (at least i do) that Jon and Richie sort of go "i can't write a love song the way i feel today" but at the same time they say, "well, let's just record it anyway, put it on the album, release it as a single and promote it and have it as a mainstay in the set for the next tour"

I don't think Jon and Richie could have written that song today. I think it was just for that time period where they were completely burned out, they were tired of the band, and this song came out true and raw from what t hey were feeling. The ballads are very different on These Days. They're not happy ballads, they're kind of sad and depressing. Even "Hearts Breaking Even", which really isn't a ballad, has a melencholy feel to it.

Something strange happened to me today. So I was listening to These Days and I'm prett far awy from my CD player and then just after Jon says:"but here in my dillusion" i hear a deep voice saying HERE IN MY DELLUSION.And I runt to may cd player and listen to it again but i can't hear it.nd then i put my ear on the speaker and i hear but it's very silently spoken.Did you notice that. And I don't understand how I could hear it from the kitchen. It's unbelivable.Did any of you tried to play it backward.Maybe it has some hidden message like some Led Zeppelin or Eagles songs.Or maybe it was always there and I didn't notice.

However ,This song is my favourite song TODAY. I just love the guitars and the way Jon screams for 30 seconds at the end and the awesome lyrics and the meaning and Misery Likes Company and everything. It's a great great song.

it's not subliminal...

it's quite clearly on the recording, the whole verse in a low voice echoing the main vocal...

same thing on bad name "schoolboy's dream"...

not subliminal...

DevilsSon 02-15-2003 08:40 PM

I can clearly hear it on Bd Name but i never heard it on My Guitar Lies Bleeding In My arms before ...that's weird because I listened to These Days more than to any other Bj record......Weird....

I think the whole These Days Album is one of Bon Jovi's finest, so this song is too! :D
