Hypothetically speaking, how would you answer...

If Bon Jovi did a survey asking which songs you wanted to hear live from each CD and the very last question was a fill in the blank: What is your favorite Bon Jovi song ever?

Would you put your actual favorite song even if you thought there was no chance of it being played, or would you pick one that might actually make a set list?

I have many favorites, so it would be hard to pick one anyway. But I’m pretty sure one like Satellite, Mystery Train, or Walk Like a Man would never get played. So a better tactic might be picking Wild is the Wind or I Will Drive You Home.

Just something to think about while there is nothing much going on.

bobbye49 05-31-2018 06:59 AM

My all-time favorite song changes from time to time, but for the last few years, it's been Blood on Blood. I heard it twice out of four shows on the last leg of this tour, so it was always a possibility; it's such a rush when when I hear the opening few bars!

Walleris 05-31-2018 11:00 AM

For me it's always Always. I heard it once in my three Bon Jovi shows (Vienna 2011, 2nd encore) and I will never forget that moment. It will be my no. 1 song forever.

Dry County has always escaped me, so that would be the pick for my 'debut'. But only if Richie's there. If not, then I'd opt for something off DA, because it would actually have a shot at sounding decent with Jon's current voice.

If I had to pick ANY song that has never been played live, then it'd be Bitter Wine.

I'd like to hear Bitter Wine, too. It would be interesting to hear which lyrics Jon would sing. :)

For me, it would depend on the lineup. With the current line-up, I'd probably choose Fingerprints to fill in the blank, WWYDF from BB, and Come On Up to Our House from THINFS. I'd skip the previous albums altogether unless the list of CDs included the box set and demos/b-sides. If that were the case, I might request Maybe Someday from the box set and Stay from Crush. I'd love to hear both of those songs live.

steel_horse75 05-31-2018 12:17 PM

My best BJ song ever...

Wild is the wind or Stick to your guns

YOVANAfromPeru 05-31-2018 12:57 PM

My favorite song is Wanted, but they play it everynight >_< jajaj

I would like to hear Love Hurts or My guitar lies bleeding in my arms or Thorn In My Side
I would like a combo: acoustic Ride Cowboy Ride + electric Stick to your guns
acoustically A Teardrop To The Sea or The Fire Inside
and even that cover It's Only Make Believe
OF COURSE Como yo nadie te ha amado and I could go on and on... jaja

bjcrazycpa 05-31-2018 05:25 PM

Like Walleris, mine will always be Always!!!

Zakatar 05-31-2018 07:54 PM

I would probably request Bells of Freedom. Beside being one of my all-time favorite BJ songs, It works quite well live (at least based on the YT videos I've watched of it), isn't impossible to sing (Jon did it pretty well at a solo show in '15), and at least some people might know it due to HAND being the second-best-selling post-00 album.

Although if I could request anything, it would probably be Satellite or These Open Arms.

TwinFan 05-31-2018 09:58 PM

I'd put These Days. It does fit both your criteria... it's got a shot at making the setlist and it's my favorite Bon Jovi song (or at least top 3).

DryCounty 05-31-2018 10:07 PM

I've seen Bon Jovi 7 times (in Europe) but never got to hear These Days. Somehow they always seems to play it at the show after or the show before mine. Still, I've gotten some gems like This Ain't a Love Song, Undivided, Damned, Diamond Ring, Wild Is the Wind, Dry County and so on so I can't complain. But one day (hopefully with Richie back) I'd like to hear These Days.

Thinny 05-31-2018 11:04 PM

I would have dearly loved to have heard Wild Is The Wind live, but it was never meant to be...

Bounce7800 06-01-2018 11:13 AM

This Aint A Love Song, Something To Believe In & Wild Is The Wind are the semi rarities that have alluded me thus far (and probably forever now).

I might be bored enough to actually just knock up a google form so we could make the hypothetical survey real...

kleman 06-01-2018 12:25 PM

Saw them 12 times (Europe) from 2003 and my last choice would still be I Believe, These Days (heard it 3 times before) or Something to believe in.....

bonjovi90 06-01-2018 01:06 PM

Tough question. I consider myself quite lucky having actually heard half of the These Days albums (by only attending shows from 2003 onwards) plus most of my other favourites, including Wild Is The Wind.

Maybe I Believe, Never Say Goodbye or Letting You Go in a dream world. With nowadays vocals and line-up, I'd only ask for the latter to be played.

Savvi 06-01-2018 02:01 PM

I was lucky enough to get my #1 song in Sydney 2010 (I Believe). The next song I probably want to hear most is Wild in the Streets. Unlikely.

I've been to 8 shows and have been pretty lucky with what I've got. I guess living in Australia helps?

Didn't realise I've heard These Days at half the shows I've been to. Also shocked that at 7/8 shows I've been they've played Saturday Night. Pretty happy with that.

LMAO!!!

Having said that, you'd have some epic songs in that list as well.

This is what gave me the idea. I thought it was really cool to ask fan input. It’s got to be hard to make a set list when you have over 20 #1 songs, plenty of hits that did not make #1, and a new album to promote. There were some albums in the list that I picked one deep cut and no hits from, some I picked hits and unreleased songs from, and I listed a “very little chance” favorite in the fill in the blank. (Song for Dad)

That's also my favorite KU song! I'm not a huge fan of his (or country music in general) like I am of Bon Jovi, but he is one of the only two country artists I (occasionally) listen to, the other being Rascal Flatts.

But yeah I would really like Jon to steal this idea from Keith. Then he'd realize that no one cares about all the LH drivel he forces down our throats at every show (and if he does want to play anything from that album, Memory and Any Other Day are the only acceptable choices)!

The problem is that the Backstage fans would probably even vote for these songs because they know it'd make Jon happy, just like some European fans would keep asking for Captain Crash in order to throw their ****in' confetti around time and time again.

YOVANAfromPeru 06-04-2018 11:36 AM

I have to confess I've got my own spreadsheet too >_< (that crazy we all are? lol)
only 18 shows altogether for me...

but since I'm the queen of the off topic I was analyzing the songs IN THE OTHER SIDE (songs that make me sick!):

Captain Crash & The Beauty Queen From Mars 07/18
Lost Highway 12/18
Lost Highway (acoustic) 02/18
New Year's Day 01/18
Reunion (acoustic) 02/18
Rollercoaster 02/18
Twist And Shout 01/18
We Got It Going On 10/18
We Weren't Born To Follow 10/18
What About Now 04/18
Who Says You Can't Go Home? 10/18
Who Says You Can't Go Home? (acoustic) 02/18
Whole Lot Of Leavin' 05/18
Whole Lot Of Leavin' (acoustic) 02/18

PRETTY PLEASE, NO MORE OF THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

what about you???

>_< jajaj

Walkerboy 06-05-2018 04:20 PM

There are only two that really eluded me, and that I actually want to hear live:

Save a Prayer
Good Guys Don't Always Wear White

No chance of ever hearing either.

Heard that one live in Stockholm 2001, a bit of surprise when they started playing it but I really enjoyed it. For me, my personal favorite will always be Something To Believe In. And the best version I ever heard of that song live was in Helsinki 1996.

I finally heard "Something to Believe In" live in Barcelona 2011. I had to travel from New Jersey to Spain just to hear it. I am so glad I made that trip because I heard so many rarities that I had never heard before (or since). Though These Days has been played at MSG a few times now.

Eveline 06-10-2018 09:46 AM

Bitterwine, If that's what it takes and Hearts breaking even... no way they're gonna be ever performed, though.

From the ones that have been performed, Something to believe in, Good guys don't always wear white and NJ/TD songs in general.

BJFan99 06-10-2018 10:11 AM

Definitely These Days.

I was really looking forward to going to the Tampere show back in 2013, even without Richie (whom I've always considered an essential part of Bon Jovi, and still do) being there. Unfortunately, my schedule was too tight for me going there with the following day having been a school one, and I had to stay home.

As TD has always been one of the most important BJ songs for me in general - alongside Saturday Night, Always and of course Prayer -, I guess it's needless to say that I was absolutely gutted when I checked out setlist.fm and saw it having been the second to the last song of the night (which, of course, had to be Always, my other favorite...). Words simply can't express how pissed and frustrated I was - I couldn't listen to any version of TD for several months afterwards without feeling like that. Even though I also watched the stream of the first part of the show on YT and cringed at Jon's vocals, especially on BTBMB (even though they were still much better than nowadays overall), it wouldn't have mattered one bit had I been there and heard the song that has always meant so much for me - especially as it was pretty much the best vocal performance of the night:

https://youtu.be/tejmc-ATfeg

This encore as a whole would probably have made me cream my pants.

I was extremely lucky to hear that one too at Wembley in 1995, one of the very few times it was actually performed live. My then 15 year old self nearly passed out when they started playing it...!

taker5962 10-05-2018 09:43 AM

In 3 times, never got These Days, Always or even Runaway...

But the first time i heard One Wild Night, Livin' In Sin annnnnnd DRY COUNTY :) i was so happy, first time in the LH Tour...

I've got 2 Wild Is The Wind, 1 Never Say Goodbye, 1 Dry County, 1 Garageland, 1 One Wild Night, 2 Livin In Sin, 1 This Ain't A Love Song... i'm pretty happy about that, but i'd like to have TD, Always and Runaway in the next tour
