Just wondering if there were any fans of this awesome cult classic sitcom?

I remember watching odd episodes from years ago when it was on TV and over the last few years bought all 8 series on DVD, plus the new Bodysnatcher Collection Box Set.

Just wondering what everyone's fave episode/series/character/quote or whatever is?

Personally I like them all, though I think Series III - VI are the best, then the first two series, and then series VII and VIII. I'm very fond of the Dave-revived series as well.

Jim Bon Jovi 11-15-2007 02:43 AM

it was excellent until they introduced kachanski in the later series.

i love pretty much all of it except that but my favourite episodes are legion, the one with tension paper and pretty much all of the series with quarantine, streets of laredo and back to reality in it :-)

i should pick up the dvd's too.

Peterson 11-15-2007 01:58 PM

I love Red Dwarf too. They are currently repeating it on the new freeview channel - Dave, think it's channel 19.

Can't remember what night I saw it on though.

Jim Bon Jovi 11-15-2007 02:07 PM

yeah theyve got a red dawrf weekend on dave this week.

sadly i've been roped into working down my old pub for the scotland game so ill miss it on saturday but ive got nothign to do but sit about and watch it on sunday :-D

Dave 1986 11-15-2007 03:27 PM

I personally think the last series, Red Dwarf VIII was the weakest. Although it does have its moments, I consider it to be a knock-off compared to the others. I hate the way they ended it aswell. That's why I hope they release the movie, or a 9th series, or something to tie up all the loose ends. I did liked the cinematic look and dramatic feel of Series VII though, even though it wasn't as funny as the previous series'. Series VII IMO had some great episodes (Tikka To Ride, Oroboros, Stoke Me A Clipper), and then some boring/dodgy episodes (Beyond A Joke, Duct Soup, Epideme), but I still rate it much higher than Series VIII.

Tashjbj 11-17-2007 10:48 PM

I used to love Red Dwarf!! It was one of the best shows. I definitely think the earlier ones were the best, I didn't really like it with Kachanski. Loved the cat :-)

RS8MB0R8 11-18-2007 11:54 AM

The Cat rules!!!

Orange?!?! With this suit?!?!?

Jim Bon Jovi 11-19-2007 12:42 AM

red dwarf series 4 is on dave just now :-)

it's the one where winnie the pooh gets shot just now :-D

Esther 11-19-2007 10:47 PM

DH loves this show, wish they would play them over here, he would love to watch them. He is also a fan of Dr. Who and the new one Torchwood.

Haven't seen a lot of Red Dwarf, but I remember one of my science teachers in school letting us watch it in the last week of term.:p

They don't really give anything away. ;)

It's good! Real Red Dwarf.

Goldsausage 04-10-2009 11:22 PM

Ah I love Red Dwarf :D Dad has a million and one of the tapes, used to watch them with my mates after school everyday for weeks on end.

However, I'm watching this new episode and I'm not watching Red Dwarf, I'm watching a former shadow of itself.

The Cat is the only thing keeping me watching at the moment, Rimmer isn't as awesome as he used to be :(

But I'm not one to judge so soon so I'll reserve judgement until the end of the third episode.

EDIT: Woman just appeared. She's REALLY hot. I love this episode.

Dave 1986 04-11-2009 12:44 AM

Yeah, Part 1 wasn't that great. Hardly anything happened and it seemed to end too quickly. Still no resolution for the cliffhanger at the end of Series VIII. All we know is Kochanski is dead and Holly is offline.

I agree when you say it is now a shadow of it's former self, but I think it has been since Series VII. It'll NEVER be as good as the early series' anyway.

Who cares, Red Dwarf is back!.....for now anyway.

The first half was good, at least (I posted at the ad-break). It's all about the small talk in the quarters!

Jim Bon Jovi 04-11-2009 01:59 PM

i think the issue is that red dwarf was always a bit "naff"

it was tacky and somewhat cheap and the humour reflected that.

when you gloss it all up and get rid of the cardboard sets and studio laughter it loses its britishness imo.

i watched it and thought shit that was a waste of time but caught it again when i got in from the pub and laughed a bit more so here's hoping tonights is a grower

Peterson 04-13-2009 10:17 AM

Just watched all 3 episodes last night, was rather dissapointed. :(

Some funny moments, but thought it could have been a lot better.

Don't know where I got this from, but I thought the story behind it was Kryten, Kat and Rimmer came to earth to take Craig Charles away from Coronation Street and back into space?.....

I think that could have been a bit better.

Series XI & XII

2 new series have been announced for 2016/17 respectively.

Esther 07-31-2015 08:59 PM

unfortunately I don't think they will be available over here in the US.

Red Dwarf

Why would you think that? Red Dwarf is big in The U.S. And they've shown every other season there, plus you can get them all on DVD/Blu Ray. It was taken off Netflix a while back though.

Because of this article. http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-en...ypes=og.shares

We don't get the Dave channel here in the US.

Very excited about this :D I'm looking for audience tickets every single day!

Dave 1986 08-01-2015 10:58 AM

Have tickets been announced yet?

And I seem to remember that the last series was released digitally in stores like iTunes as soon as each episode was aired. Maybe that was just a UK thing though. Series X was released very soon on DVD/Blu Ray after broadcast in the UK and U.S. anyway.

Yea please do! They'll more than likely announce it on the official website but it'll be cool to actually do it this time

It is, though I doubt I really need one, with the amount of times I've seen them all.

Just check on Amazon, it looks like Series I to V are getting a Blu Ray release?!
