Me too, and I am considering leaving before Bon Jovi - which is something I would never have believed I could ever do :-/

But no Richie, Shanks and Jon’s voice - it’s just too much. I had some new faith after the first European shows but it got killed after the last two.

Beentheresince1996 07-11-2019 10:13 PM

Leave before Bon Jovi? what are you actually doing here then?
What about supporting the band in a clearly difficult time?

Leave before Bon jovi come on?.. And yet you are on a bon jovi forum?

I get that people do not want to go to the shows anymore because they don't like certain things.. But to say you would actually go to a festival and actually walk out before jovi came on is just utterly bizarre to me.

Thats it!!
I saw Jon suffering a lot at the Madrid show and never came to my mind leaving the stadium.
In the bad times, the ones who love the band,we have to be there supporting them, others leave before the band plays...

BJFan99 07-12-2019 01:41 PM

Man, just look at that 2011 setlist. Them good ol' days... :(

NicoRourke 07-12-2019 02:49 PM

I understand your point of view guys but I just can't fathom to see them in such a state - I want to keep the amazing memories I have of that band intact. And no Richie is a major factor for me.

I've supported the band since 1992, bought countless albums, singles, imports, VHS and DVDs, etc. and have run for years a site dedicated to the band but since WAN I've been disappointed by what I perceive as the JBJ show and how things went from there.

And this is very painful for me, make no mistake about it - I love that band a lot. A lot.

I'm going because of Fogerty and my brother being a CCR fan, and we will check the start of the BJ set but if it's bad we will leave. I'd rather remember the amazing concerts we went to or check videos from some of their best performances.

I totally get that and I’ve seen Jovi 3 times without Richie and although I enjoyed it something is definitely missing. It’s 100% Richie...but I honestly feel 2019 Richie wouldn’t offer much. He still don’t look right to me and in little recent clips I’ve seen he speaks odd and is a little weird.

Here are Jon and Tico hanging with John Fogerty and sons! I hope people are enjoying both artist, I had the pleasure to see Fogerty last week, and what a fantastic concert that was!

NicoRourke 07-14-2019 09:05 PM

All of the ads for JBJ products displayed on the screens are a bit out of place me thinks. Not very rock n roll

NicoRourke 07-14-2019 09:29 PM

People around me were literally laughing for the pasta sauce one...

They were laughing at how good the deal was! At those prices they're almost giving them away!

They

a) have a cell reception there that is as bad as in Munich
b) a show that is so stunning no one even dares to post an update
c) play exact the same setlist as the last few shows and no one cares about it

I'd go for c

Happy I’ve sold my ticket to this show. Too short and the setlist is piss poor.

Getting worse and worse, mate. Looks like IBTFY was the song left out but still only 19 songs and incredibly predictable.

Audibles:
Always
Sat Night
These Days

So a fair amount of people walked out of the venue during the show due to poor vocals. Whoops 😢.

Still feeling like you're singing your ass off, Jonny?

bonjovi90 07-15-2019 01:18 AM

IBTFY was listed as the first encore song, but dropped. For the first time ever I think the reactions underneath the band's IG post of the setlist aren't positive.

This has to be the lowest page count whilst a gig has been in progress that I can ever remember :( I guess we can all pick the setlists for the final shows although I hope somehow I’m proved wrong.

Even the die hards here seem to be losing interest

I think there was a show in the autumn of 2013 (2nd US arena leg) where the thread actually opened a day after the concert [emoji1]

It was quite shocking really, we could move 5m further every 10 minutes or so - so many left.
It’s heartbreaking really.

I know I said I was considering leaving but I didn’t and I kept shacking my head during the entire show, thinking about how this band was once untouchable as performers. And Richie was really missing. Props to Tico and Dave that are real beasts. And Phil X delivers ans has passion and energy. Jon should.approach the next phase of his career differently. And take a long long break.

VinceBJ 07-15-2019 03:02 AM

I went to the show, knowing Jon’s voice would be bad. Let me tell you, it was bad. But it didn’t ruin anything for me, I had a good time. Setlist on the short side, that was a bit of a bummer.

Went back.
Amazing Fogerty gig, very cool Anouk show and...
A good BJ 2019 show. Voice was really bad, poor setlist, but better feelings than Dusseldorf, i had prefer Werchter.
Tico is a f*cking killer. Dave is great. Phil X was really good.
Hoped a little These Days in encore but... 1h58 = time of my recording.

Sad to know it's probably our last BJ Show... But it must end one day...
I've seen Neil Young & Fogerty in 5 days, Bon Jovi just after and come on... 20 years younger and no voice left... And the others sings like they are 30.... :puppydog::puppydog::puppydog::puppydog:

That’s cos there’s nothing for die hards. Not even a scrap of anything for long time fans.

It’s like Jon just wants the tour to end now.
I’m not doubting he is giving it his all up there but the setlists are static and now getting shorter.

Watching any video from last night shows that the crowd was totally dead. Not a single hand in the air. No wonder Jon cut the show short. Absolutely dreadful.

Sad thing is, he didn't really cut it short. Well... One song.

I’ll Be There For You is the best part of the recent concerts lately, and this setlist without that one has to be the worst
3 more concerts to end the European tour or 4 with Tel Aviv, and still no Hey God, Blaze Of Glory, or WHATEVER!

weekend 07-15-2019 12:30 PM

Did they play at a festival? Terrible crowd, showed little interest in the concert.

It's about time for Jon to open up about his vocal problems at least a bit more in public. It's actually absurd that he continuously brags about how great he sounds and then comes up with performances like this (not to mention the extremely auto-tuned "live" videos on the band's official YT channel):

Neither Hey God or Blaze will ever be played live anymore with Jon's voice being in this state.

Zakatar 07-15-2019 01:12 PM

on the bright side, Captain Crash was finally dropped!

steel_horse75 07-15-2019 01:27 PM

You know who else is struggling vocally? Joe Elliott of Def Leppard.

Saw a few songs from Download and vocally he is worse than Jon. He cannot hit the high notes and like BJ his vocals are swamped by the backing vocals.

When he sings on his own its far worse than Jons - on the songs I saw at least.

Festival or not, dropping the ONE amazing song remaining (I'll be There For You) from the set is a disgrace. Dead crowd or not, there were some 55 000 people who bought tickets and thus supported the band more than enough. If I were there, I'd be disappointed with a set that has neither Bed of Roses, nor I'll be There for You. After all, these are 2 of the bands 3 monster ballads (together with Always) and to have a set with ZERO of them is what I consider a big slap in the face.

I have no idea why you're saying that as I think exactly the opposite. I guess it's a matter of personal assessment, but I find Joe's vocals up to par. As for Jon, well, we all know already....

Check out the Download 2019 programme on Sky Arts.

His voice is awful. Especially the high notes. During a chorus everyone joins in so its well hidden - just like Jovi

bonjovi90 07-15-2019 02:09 PM

I don't know what it is with Belgian crowds. Sometimes they're great (1993/2001), sometimes they're downright boring.

In 1988, Jon got so pissed he threw out Wanted and made a snarky remark at the beginning of Prayer. In 2011, this video makes it seem like they're witnessing a funeral:

And that was a proper band show with a decent setlist!

Of course that doesn't justify the below-par performance from last night (from what I've seen on videos).
