Why should someone who's spend several hundreds of dollars on getting these tapes share them with anyone?

Did not say they should.
It's just the sad way of the world (hoarding).
Me me me.

If you keep to yourself that what's been given to you for free I agree with you. However, some stuff is rare and if someone spends time, money and effort on getting it for himself he doesn't have to share it with anyone just because you feel entitled to it.

I often wonder if those who bitch about not getting rare Bon Jovi recordings have ever spend serious money on recording equipment or a rare Bon Jovi CD for a certain bonus track? If not, why should anyone give you anything?

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

Well, from my experience, it's very fun and enjoy sharing rare songs.

I can understand that someone who spends money does not want to share it, but not everyone has to be like that. I have exchanged a lot of material over the years, and a lot of times I have shared a lot of material because it was so interesting that it was worth it. Unfortunately not everyone has this point of view, but fortunately, there are others who do.

The amount of times people join the board or the ones who rarely post and then come back when rare stuff is offered to beg to be PM'd falls as selfish too though.

Sure, but how much of the stuff you shared was actually bought by you instead of downloaded from a server set up by someone else? Or recorded by someone else? Or bought by someone else who put it online for free? It's easy to say you've shared things that didn't cost you much effort to aquire to begin with.

I agree, but there is real mean intentions in people when they want you to literally beg for it!!

When you start making posts with small shots of something that YOU KNOW people would die for and also, YOU KNOW that those people doesn't have the money to get them, it's because you love to feel powerful and like a god! That's being mean, and most when you treat disparagingly.

It's not an obligation to share but if you don't want to, simply don't throw the bait, that is not right, just don't make noise on it...

Everyone has the option to share or not their most precious possessions. Whether partial or complete. I only give one more opinion.

I have collected for years a lot of singles, maxi-singles and strange editions, not only of Bon Jovi. but I am not a purist in the sense of having everything physically. I bought singles that I was missing, and other fans have bought singles that I did not check to exchange them and increase the catalog.

I always cared more about the song (live, demo, b-side .... format? mp3, wav, flac ..) than phisical fetishism. I spent hundreds of dollars to get things I not could download, but let's be honest, if these things would have been easy to find, I would not have bought them, and that does not mean I value those songs less, that material.

Share is a necessy and for fans to discover new songs. But when you pay a disorderly price it is a nuisance. I wish nobody would have to pay 5,000 dollars for listening to those tapes. I can understand that if it is the original cassette that David or some engineer assistant or technician had as a 1st generation, maybe it is worth that money, but when you pay that amount to obtain a 2nd generation tape, it is a nuisance.

I would not mind paying for a good digital ripping of those demos at a reasonable price, but that's not a business, so because of this, it's easy to choose which would be the best way to discover these songs.
