Thread for Sunday's concert as I'll no doubt forget to do it tomorrow.

Second of this weekends back to back gigs comes from the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland. They also last played Cleveland on the BWC tour in a back to back with Columbus, although they have switched slots from 2013 with the show at The Q being the 2nd show this time around.

2017 Setlist:

1. This House Is Not for Sale
2. Knockout
3. You Give Love a Bad Name
4. Lost Highway
5. Whole Lot of Leavin'
6. Roller Coaster
7. We Weren't Born to Follow
8. Work for the Working Man
9. I'll Sleep When I'm Dead
10. We Got It Goin' On
11. Captain Crash & the Beauty Queen From Mars
12. It's My Life
13. We Don't Run
14. God Bless This Mess
15. Scars on This Guitar
16. New Year's Day
17. Lay Your Hands on Me
18. Born to Be My Baby
19. Have a Nice Day
20. Bad Medicine
21. Keep the Faith

Encore:

22. Who Says You Can't Go Home
23. Wanted Dead Or Alive
24. Livin' on a Prayer

The 2013 setlist was:

1. You Give Love A Bad Name
2. Raise Your Hands
3. Lost Highway
4. Because We Can
5. That's What The Water Made Me
6. It's My Life
7. Someday I'll Be Saturday Night
8. What About Now
9. Work For The Working Man
10. We Got It Goin' On
11. Keep The Faith
12. Amen
13. Bed Of Roses
14. I'll Be There For You
15. Runaway
16. We Weren't Born To Follow
17. I'll Sleep When I'm Dead
18. Wanted Dead Or Alive
19. Who Says You Can't Go Home
20. Bad Medicine

Encore:
21. (You Want To) Make A Memory
22. In These Arms
23. Born To Be My Baby

Encore II:
24. Have A Nice Day
25. Livin' On A Prayer
26. I Love This Town
27. Always

I can safely say that betting on a 27 song setlist like that this time around would win you about as much money as my Cheltenham bets this year, but even with the current setlist hopefully everyone going will enjoy it.

2017 Setlist will be posted here after the show as ever with Youtube vids when they become available.

If for nothing else I'm enjoying learning about all of these US arenas!

Usual showtime of doors 6.30pm, support 7.30pm from The Ohio Weather Band. Not my favourite of these supports acts so far it has to be said.

I'll be returning back to Cleveland from vacation tomorrow, hopefully before the show starts... if so, I'll consider buying a ticket for cheap from the box office... just not sure if I can justify the prices

Still listening to that show a fair amount. Some good performances in that one with a great Someday I'll Be Saturday Night.

Also, probably the last good version of Always was done in Cleveland on March 9, 2013. There still were a couple OK-ish renditions of the song to come, like the ones from St. Paul, Dallas and Omaha (April '13), but after those, that was it and Jon's vocals on the song became truly cringeworthy.

Just compare this...

https://youtu.be/7119w1jD_mU

...to this:

https://youtu.be/14wUqsEQX4s

Isn't it sad? And, to top it all, all this happened in EIGHT months! F**k...

PS. It makes me a bit confused when seeing comments like on the Toronto '13 video: "Fail... :( (about Jon going off-key on the chorus)" which someone gives the following response: "What can you do with (sic) your age now? Jon's still singing good...".

When will certain people understand that a guy in his early to mid-fifties is NOT old by any means? All it takes from Jon to get his pipes back to shape is him stopping smoking and go under some kind of vocal coaching. The way he's gripping the mic stand and wincing to hit the notes (while still being unable to do so) just makes me want to vomit. And he's NOT sounding good at all - actually, I think the Toronto version of Always is the worst performance I've ever heard to be done of the song by anyone, be it Jon or anyone else. The last chorus about makes me cry - it makes the Brisbane '13 version sound like the best performance Jon has ever delivered of any song. Bloody hell, I miss 2010-11...

Anyway, I'm pretty sure Jon will give Always a try tonight. Somebody, quickly get me some band-aid to stop the bleeding of my ears...

Not sure he could do that one any justice at all.

I reckon it's post 2000 stuff like...

One wild night
Next 100 years
Just older
Everyday
The distance - could have been introduced to all the fans that have stuck with the band etc
Story of my life
Novocaine
Loves the only rule
Superman tonight
That's what the water made me

Actually, those two performances are both equally (as) bad (I've stopped listening after the first chorus though, I have to admit)...

On the Cleveland one you can really hear the strain it's putting on his vocal chords (the "rasp" or whatever you want to call it). Nowadays, everyone says he's just shouting out the words and how that's not healthy for his voice. Well, here you have the first indication of it. And it's actually worse than today in parts.

So it seems to me that part of his vocal decline is due to not accepting the fact his voice was getting deeper in 2013 and still hanging in there, using every possible (non-)technique he could think of, and thereby doing (even more) damage to it.

BTW, it's not confirmed that he still smokes, and he's had vocal coaching throughout the years, so that's most likely not it.

I reckon a change up is what is needed. I think if he attacked a song with a bit of passion he may surprise himself. He's been singing these same 18/19 songs in the current setlists every show. If he is out of his comfort zone, he may respond. That may seem silly considering he doesn't look/sound comfortable, but come on...just play something different and go for it. I could accept him at least trying something new rather than struggling with the same old stuff.
