Prince to play *21* concerts in London this summer..including the 02

...so how come he is only charging £31 for his O2 tickets???? Hes easily more popular and in demand than Bon Jovi, yet his tickets are cheaper? the mind boggles.

Anyways, shame i wont be in the country at the time, would love to see him!

US performer Prince is to play 21 concerts in London this summer, his only European dates of the year.

He is to spend a week at the O2 arena - formerly the Millennium Dome - with tickets priced at £31.21, a reference to his album 3121.

He will also play at a number of far smaller venues to make seeing him "affordable for everybody".

The 48-year-old, known for hits such as Kiss and Raspberry Beret, has prepared 150 songs to perform on the tour.

And he hopes to be joined on stage by soul singer Amy Winehouse, having declared himself a big fan.

"I love London," he explained at a press launch. "I've had some of my favourite shows here."

An "extended stay" had been arranged because during his last tour in London - in October 2002 - "a lot of people didn't get to see me".

Prince - who famously changed his name to a squiggle symbol in the 1990s after falling out with his record label - added that he would be house-hunting in the British capital.

"As soon as I leave here I'm going to look for a place to live," he told journalists.

Tickets for the O2 arena gigs, the first of which will be on 1 August, go on sale on Friday at 0900 BST.

Good on him at least he is thinking of his fans in stead of the ££££££

So the prices finally make sense. The first article I read had the price at $61 dollars and said it was a tribute to his latest album 3121 and I was clueless. But with the prices being 31 and 21 then thats makes a lot more sense.

hmmmmm i'd LOVE to see prince. he kicks ass live and always has great bands but that'd mean me going to london for a gig every month from now till september except july and i don't think i can be bothered / have the money.

Get this - Prices O2 shows are 'in the round' - i.e every seat is more or less as good as the other, and theyr STILL only £31!

And thats not all, the price includes a copy of his new album!

I dont understand, i really dont. Especially as Princes tour also is with AEG live..so where does all the extra money come from? It only leaves the suggestion that JBJ and co are deliberatly pumping up their prices..

The low ticket prices are probably due to the 10 dates!

could Bon Jovi sell out the O2 10 times charing £100 for tickets??? i doubt it to be fair... probably after the release of their GH when they are being talked about more etc... but i doubt they could have when they announced the 1 o2 date....

Yeah, you've got a point there, and it is their only UK date this year *grumble* ... Also because they're opening it I guess, this is one of those situations where they can at least vaguely justify charging that much

If they come back for a full tour in the near future charging £100 a ticket though, I think many of us (most definitely including me) will be a tad pissed off ....

Also yeah, to follow up on that, if Prince is charging about £20 a ticket (£31 minus roughly the cost of the album which he's apparently throwing in), that's 1/5 of what BJ are charging, but he's doing 10x the dates, so he's pretty much gonna make twice as much money, which I'd imagine is why AEG are OK with it
