Anyone like Love for Sale?

I love this song. I think it was a great way to end New Jersey.

Thank you, that was really informative. Could you please make more topics like this?

yea i like lovefor sale all the banter in its quite funny too, i love the version on an evening with Bj

crashed 12-16-2008 02:30 PM

It's one of my favourites, especially recently, I can't stop listening to the various versions of it.

The demo version's great, better than the version on New Jersey, though it does sound rougher obviously.

There's various live versions I love - especially the Evening With Bon Jovi one, the TLFR one, and also an acoustic one I have from somewhere. Sounds like a radio gig or something.

The version that's billed "live from Madrid" or something is decent too - think it was on the double platinum bootleg.

The demo is the same version as the one on New Jersey. The official version is just an edit of the demo.

Never usually listen to it, on the rare occasion that i find myself putting New Jersey on i always switch it off when this comes on. What a wank way to end an album.

I do like it yes but I prefer the live versions around 2003 - I can take them a little more seriously, plus, for me, the song sounds a whole lot better.

KeepTheFaith2211 12-16-2008 05:32 PM

There isn't a version of this song I don't like, everything about it is great. Just a fun, feel-good song. Love the version on An Evening with BJ.

severo17 12-16-2008 05:54 PM

Don't like it :S
There's no reason for it. I just don't like it

Crushgen24/88 12-16-2008 06:24 PM

Great for what it is.
I love it, wish it would pop up again in a set.

Yeah it should in the US, not sure if it would work in Europe.

kenobi_on_a_prayer 12-17-2008 12:51 PM

I love it, as a cool, fun little song to jam to. They should have done it for Unplugged last year.

Ferret 12-17-2008 01:17 PM

Brilliant song! I wish they'd play it live again.

liljovi93 12-17-2008 05:33 PM

It's alright. Don't listen to it much.

That's a good point, it should be played every acoustic show at least IMO! :p

Eastwick 12-17-2008 11:21 PM

Love it! Would love to hear it live.
Richie is brilliant here.

bobjovi 12-17-2008 11:38 PM

sometimes i love it but occasioanlly i cant be arsed to listen to it. on the whole i think its a fun song. richie is great.

Nalynn 12-18-2008 06:09 AM

One of my favorites, especially live.:x-mas:

Panda 12-18-2008 06:27 AM

I like it as well live. I also like maple syrup. with waffles.

Grypweed 12-18-2008 07:08 AM

I love it live - on the album though it's not as much fun.

jade4jovi 12-18-2008 04:43 PM

Yess, I love it for what it is. A fun song not to be taken too seriously. It makes me laugh, so it's all good. Would definitely like to hear it live.

yomamasofat 12-19-2008 02:44 AM

Yes I do. It's great.

BJaddict 01-10-2009 05:58 PM

a fun song... looks like they were drunk when they did it..

rich i gotto go home... lets just say that the record is done

jade4jovi 01-10-2009 06:04 PM

But were they really drunk? I've heard they were, but...anybody know for certain?

BJaddict 01-10-2009 06:08 PM

nooo,, but they were actin like it..
its all what rock is about,, acting :P

jade4jovi 01-10-2009 06:17 PM

Hehe, I feel so misguided. I always thought acting was about acting, and rocking was about rocking. :(

Kathleen 01-10-2009 06:21 PM

I particularly like the version on the Japanese bonus DVD that came with TLFR late in 2003. It was from the AOL Sessions in 2002 I think. And of course the version on An Evening With BJ is excellent. The original is OK - it's fun - but I really like the more serious acoustic harmony versions.

ehhh thats probably when they start off... nd are thinkin of it as fun, its only when they become a money making machine that they lose the spontaneous atitiude ,, i guess:P
who cares anyway?

jade4jovi 01-10-2009 06:41 PM

Nah, all joking aside there's truth in what you're saying. A lot of Rockstars lose their "fire" and "hunger" I guess. It's sad really. Maybe it's because they conquered what they set out to conquer, and the challenge is no longer there? Or maybe just that we don't appreciate something that becomes the norm, even if we worked hard for it at first. And as you say, it often becomes more about money. Ah well.

we look more like shrinks,, analyzing this much ,, dnt u think?:P

jade4jovi 01-10-2009 07:05 PM

I analyze everything. I find humans too interesting for my own good. I actually did very well in Psychology, and I still study it in my own time, and I would love to be a shrink. But oh boy does analyzing have it's bad points!!

But yeah, it's a good song!:D

Goldsausage 01-10-2009 09:36 PM

Hey Jade I find human psychology interesting too! But unfortuantly I could not take a course in it at my college :( I'd love to study what makes people change though - not puberty - things that make people crazy, drives them nuts, turns them into mademen.

Freaks really interest me, psychotics, people who do mad stuff because they're "ill". That really interests me. That's why I know if I ever become a director, I'll end up making a few films that centre around a madman.

Ok I've done enough off-topicness in this thread.

I hate Love For Sale.

superkid 01-10-2009 10:17 PM

I saw it live once on the bounce tour. It was good but not amazing.

Only Jovi 4 Me 01-14-2009 07:52 PM

I love the song...it makes me laugh!!

severo17 01-14-2009 08:00 PM

I Don't.
It sucks! (but that's just me)

KeepTheFaith2211 01-14-2009 08:25 PM

For those that hate it, do you hate it on Keep The Faith: An Evening With Bon Jovi?

Or the TLFR DVD for that matter?

Or any performance of it that's not the silly album version?

Jovigirl90 01-14-2009 09:03 PM

I love it such a good song :D

Meh. I can hear it, but it's not my favourite song.

I think it is a fantastic performance. But then again, KTF: An Evening With Bon Jovi - I don't think a bad word can be said about it>

crashed - You're right, the TLFR DVD one is really good too but I think Jon's Elvis impersonation is tremendous on KTF. :p
