New single "C'est la Vie" is available on iTunes now. No, it's not a B*Witched cover.
Quite good. Sounds a lot like the Killers to me. New album Keep the Village Alive out in September. |
I heard it live at their Royal Albert Hall gig in February and it was really good.
They were amazing that day btw, including their special guests, as always, their gigs are always so good! |
Great live band. Seen them about 3 times.
New album out early Sept. new vid |
So guys, what are you thoughts on the new album?
I'm very much a casual fan of this band, so my opinion may not be too valuable, but I really like it after 2 listens. White Lies is my favorite so far, with Sunny being a close second. I like that it sounds fairly poppy, a bit similar to You Gotta Go There To Come Back, which I always loved despite it not being very liked among most fans. Though I do think that Graffiti On The Train had a bit more of an 'atmosphere' as an album; or maybe I just happened to listen to that one at the right time to hit it. So far I've only listened to Keep The Village Alive at work, so that hinders it a bit I guess. Still, a very good album so far for me! |
Scream Above The Sounds is out now. I’ve heard “All In One Night” and “Before Anyone Knew Our Name” but am yet to pick up the album. Anyone heard it yet?

I like it but don't love it. Too many slow songs for my liking. Taken A Tumble is excellent but very similar to a couple of other songs on the last album. Keep The Village Alive is a much better album but maybe this will grow on me. Going to see them in concert in March. Can't wait. Sent from my EVA-L09 using Tapatalk |
Fav albums, Lenguage, Sex, Violence, Other Pull the Pill and Performance and Cocktels. Fav songs, oh, a lot songs. Rainbows and Pots of Gold, Jane, Maybe Tomorrow, Moviestar, Katman, Devil, Soldiers Make Good Targets, Drowning.........
Let Me In is absolute. |

Its a good album but the 2nd half just kinda fades out. The previous 2 albums were more consistent. |

Live From Dakota Album Is awesome. I bought two DVDs that included in the extras the whole show in video. Obviously it is not in order, but when I have some free time, I will Editing the video in the same order as the live album. |
Completed work.

Went to see these on Saturday night at Wembley Arena.
Seen them about 3 times now and they are one of the best live acts I've seen for many a year. Kelly Jones has an immense voice and its strong enough to sound the same from first to last song in a 2 hour set. If you haven't seen these live yet why not? You're missing out. |
I'm going to see them on Saturday. Can't wait!

One of the best shows I've been too, in all honesty. Kelly's voice live is superb and the band are so tight and sound brilliant. Made me want to try and get tickets for Wrexham. Sent from my EVA-L09 using Tapatalk |

This band I discovered it relatively recently, and it does not stop growing, fantastic songs, and the best, the live shows.

I did notice how, once they made it back to the U.K. they mixed it up quite a bit and ditched a bit of the slow and new stuff. That said, I can kind of understand all those Stereophonics fans saying how they've lost quite a bit of their edge which is a real shame as I liked every album of theirs, even the ones that are disliked by the majority of fans out there. Their shows just have too many slow songs now. Half of what they've released in the last 10 years would work well in theaters, but just falls flat in arena's and stadiums. It's as if Kelly tries to cater towards a completely different audience nowadays. Sorry, just rambling a bit, I guess. I don't intend to rain on your parade as I'm quite sure you had a great time. It's just they were one of the bands I looked forward to seeing the most this year yet disappointed me more than anything else I've seen. Salaam Aleikum, Sebastiaan |

This was my first time and I found it extremely enjoyable. I didn't know two or three songs, not going to lie. But the crowd and band seemed really up for the show. Ollie said the show he went too a few days before had the worst crowd he'd seen. I seen them on a Saturday night in a small arena so maybe that helped too. I'm not a fan of the new album. I LOVE Keep The Village Alive!! Sent from my EVA-L09 using Tapatalk |
The official Stereophonics topic
The new album is not as good by KTVA and GOTT standards.
Oddly enough when I saw them the other week, on the way home, I was thinking I wonder what their die hards thought of it as I would when leaving a Jovi show. I love Stereophonics first two albums but don’t like anything else until Dakota then from there the albums have got better again. I previously saw them live in 2005 in London and it was great as I think the show was aimed towards to older fans. They played a couple of b-sides including Carrot cake and wine which rocked the ceiling off. |
Aloha !
The American "tour" has just been announced, I'm a bit surprised these indie rock bands can't get a foot on the ground over there while they've become a steady act over here as. Then again, plenty of American indie bands aren't very big here either, no idea why that's not the case either. But anyway. Quote:
Stereophonics used to be a band that, like you said, rocked the ceiling off. Nowadays though, half of their set is really mid-tempo. The show I saw had a set of which half was from the last 3 albums. It just didn't work. For every punky, upbeat rocker there was either a new song, or a ballad. I also feel it's more the Kelly Jones show nowadays. Him on the piano, him doing (very mediocre) guitar solo's, him doing the rock star pose... If the songs were great that'd be fine, but stuff like All In One Night and White Lies are really mediocre songs, and Sunny has a dreadful guitar outro which made me embarassed as it sounds like Bobby Bandiera doing the solo for Dry County. That's not to say I don't like the new stuff, but after Keep Calm & Carry On the albums contain a few stinkers, and it's a shame they're playing those as opposed to the better songs, even though the better songs are album tracks, and not really songs that work well when playing them live. I really like Graffiti On The Train and Keep The Village Alive, but their last album does nothing to me. It feels like a collection of b-sides, as if the river's run dry. I also think they need a fresh producer because frankly, the last 4 records could all have been from the same sessions. Like I said, they just need to make up their mind a bit as to what band they are nowadays as the atmospheric stuff doesn't work well in the venues they're playing over here. It's a real shame, because their punky stuff still brings down the house whenever they play it. Salaam Aleikum, Sebastiaan |

:-D A question, have they ever launch the song Jayne in an electric version of studio recording? |
Seb, I accept your opinion and that but please ... Please ... Never say anything about bad about White Lies [emoji12][emoji12]

I'm a casual Stereophonics fan and I consider White Lies to be one of their best and I have listened to every album at least once! While we're on the subject, I listened to Scream Above The Sounds yesterday and it's as forgettable as I remember it being after release. Very disappointing after a string of strong albums. |

We had a great time. This show was even better than the Leeds one in my opinion. Great atmosphere, amazing energy. The band really looked shocked at the reception they got. The arena only looked half open too as tickets haven't been on sale that long and they've already done a UK tour. Sent from my CLT-L09 using Tapatalk |
New album Oochya! Is pretty decent. 1 or 2 too many slow ones but a solid 8/10.
My fav is Dont know what ya got. Sent from my SM-S906B using Tapatalk |
Went to see them again a few weeks back. Solid show as ever.
I like the album. 'Forever' is my favourite but after seeing 'All I Have Is You' live, that's up there too. Sent from my Pixel 6 Pro using Tapatalk |
I listened to the album a few weeks ago and quite enjoyed it too. Forever was the song that immediately jumped out at me as well! I also really like Seen That Look Before.

As I mentioned above, 'All I Have Is You' was incredible live. Could hear a pin drop but his vocals towards the end of the song were excellent. I actually got goosebumps! Much prefer his voice now to how he used to sound. Sent from my Pixel 6 Pro using Tapatalk |
I'm lost with this latest album. Is it a b-sides compilation? or is it an album with new songs?
I ask this because Forever I heard it a long time ago, I think it was a b-side of his greatest hits. |
