Tom Cruise to sing Wanted in "Rock of Ages"

And you thought an animated Kurt Cobain singing to a Bon Jovi track on Guitar Hero was bad?

Cruise to star in ‘Rock of Ages’
By WENN.COM

Tom Cruise has signed up to hit the high notes in the movie adaptation of stage musical Rock of Ages.

The Mission: Impossible star will play Stacee Jaxx in the film, and belt out Bon Jovi's Wanted Dead or Alive.

Matt Weaver, who co-created Rock of Ages, is thrilled with the casting: "He's got an awesome voice! He's got an awesome attitude.

"He's embracing it, he's getting into character, he's doing his research. He's ready to go back to 1986!"

Julianne Hough, Alec Baldwin, Anne Hathaway and Russell Brand are also reportedly in talks to join the cast.

Hough was among the stars who attended the opening night of the hit musical's run in Los Angeles on Tuesday. Zac Efron, Malin Akerman, Shannon Elizabeth, Carmen Electra and Mena Suvari were among the audience.

Since when does Tom Cruise sing!? He would have to be one of my least favourite actors, along with Nicolas Cage. Blagh.

I'll definately be interested to watch the film though (I didnt know it was being adapted into a film!)... I've always been interested in seeing the broadway show but it's only coming to Melbourne in Australia.

Has anyone seen the broadway show?

Anything that puts Jovi songs in peoples consciousness is good with me- same with the Glee cover versions or selling the songs on Guitar Hero and Rock Band- get the songs recognised by a new audience and tap up a few more fans.
It would have to go some to beat his Tropic Thunder performance though :p

He can't be any worse than these idiots on those 'Britain's got the Idol Factor' type shows, and he'll at least get vocal coaching.

Tom singing 'You've Lost That Loving Feeling' on Top Gun is pretty painful!

I haven't seen it, but wasn't that about 25 years ago? I'd think people can change/get better.

Regarding that performance, I think that was the point of the scene. It was suppose to be cringe worthy to the girl, he is singing too.

Tom Cruise has be one of the worst ever actors. I imagine he is just as bad a singer.

For the record, I have no problem with the song being used, actually quite the opposite. Like Bounce7800 said, anything that puts the band's music out there is great. I just hate that it's Cruise singing it.

Worst Ever? . He is not terrible at all, he's just been cast in some bad movies. Or is this just you following some sort of band-wagon?
