Worldwide chart positions
Post chart positions here ... can’t see there being a number 1 anywhere , uk should get top 5 and the ticket / album bundle in the USA will effect sales , talking g not even 20k copies
Week 1 Chart Positions: Australia - #3 Austria - #2 Belgium - Flanders - #6 Belgium - Wallonia - #17 Czech Republic #31 Finland - #24 Germany - #3 Hungary #12 Ireland - #16 Netherlands - #20 Japan - #8 Portugal - #6 Spain - #2 Sweden - #28 Switzerland - #3 Uk - #5 USA - #19 |
I'm glad they've ditched rule of getting albums with tickets.
Be interested see where this charts in US and UK. Sent from my SM-G975F using Tapatalk |
I think it'll go number 5/6 in UK.
It was 3 midweek but there's been absolutely no promotion whatsoever. I think a 2 min interview for Good Morning Britain and the thing with Kay Burley is all that's happened so far. Then Radio 2 are playing songs from the new album but it's definitely nothing major. No adverts or anything that I've seen. Shame but ah well. Sent from my VOG-L29 using Tapatalk |
It was number 4 midweek in Germany. I suppose it might end up somewhere around 6 or 7 which would be their lowest for a regular studio album since SWW here.

I think it will be around top 5 everywhere except America.
But the albums seems to be holding up better for the week 2 than THINFS. It's still top 10 on iTunes charts in Germany, Canada, Australia and Spain. Top 20 in UK (with the regular and deluxe edition). And in USA they are 31 now but about 12 of the albums ahead of them are from Van Halen, probably this number will go down until the next week. And it's good to notice that the new fridays releases are already on the iTunes charts today. It's not a 100% reliable source but it's a good measure. |
If you're wondering about the Billboard debut, I think that number's a done deal. Only sales that were recorded as of midnight last night, including merch bundles (and possibly the ticket bundles) will count. The chart for Oct 2 releases should be published on Tuesday, Oct 13, iirc.
I'm still not convinced the cancellation affected those ticket bundle sales. It seems like they would have been considered "sold" at the point of purchase if vouchers or download codes were emailed at that time; but idk how that works. Maybe someone who actually bought tickets would know more about that. |

I don’t think those who bought tickets would’ve got CDs when shows were cancelled. They got full refunds. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |
28 in Sweden. Quite a downgrade from This House (10) and What About Now (1).
Nummer 2 on the physical album list though. Says quite a lot about their fan base. |

I just don't see why Jon would have backed it up from Oct 30 to Oct 2 unless it was to get in under the deadline so the merch and ticket bundles could he counted. Then again, when the change in Billboard's policy was first discussed, you asked if Oct 30 was ever an official date. I could have sworn it was; but if not, then my whole line of reasoning doesn't make sense anyway. Wouldn't be the first time. :D |
Billboard USA?

The sales figures are embarrassing whichever way they are dressed up. Im amazed at how low the sales figures are compared to how many tickets they sold in the UK last year.

Who buys actual albums anymore? Doesn't everybody just get their the music through Spotify and the like now?
I wouldn't be stressing over chart positions anymore. |

But that's the point. People consume music nowadays. It became too easily accessible and we basically don't value things that are easily accessible. For the mojority of people music is the background. They like one song and it's replaced by another after two weeks. Everything gets faster, it's come and go. That's why albums don't make that much sense for many artists.
I love spotify because I can find new artists to listen to but I'll always value my music collection the most. Now I'm listening to Spotify to boost the sales or the streams or whatever :D won't make much difference but I feel like I'm helping while I'm waiting for my Japanese edition :D |
Not only that but Spotify streams aren't exactly 1:1 as far as record sales/Billboard numbers go.

Agree totally. Years ago when you bought an album you cherished it. You loved it and you had to make sure you bought correctly as it would take a few weeks pocket money before you could buy another one. You enjoyed getting into a band and discovering their back catalogue. Yes you can do that on Spotify, discover a bands discography but as you say, its become background music because people are already thinking about the next song or album to find which isn’t good. It means songs aren’t getting digested. It’s play the new Bon Jovi album ok that’s finished, what’s next, I see Queen just released a live album, ok play that, that’s finished whose next.... The next one is the focus so much people don’t listen to what’s actually playing. It’s easy to listen to an album on Spotify and instantly forget it. How many times have you seen ...yah heard it this morning it’s rubbish. They’ve heard it once...while doing something else so haven’t taken it in. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Bon Jovi 2020 #3 in Australia.
Queen with the live album is #1 and Blackpink #2. https://www.aria.com.au/charts/albums-chart |
Can we edit the first post with all known chart positions so that we get an overview?
I think a Top-5 position nowadays is a success for the band. Like a lot of you already said, albums don't sell anymore and the counting of the streams don't give an adequate picture (what was it: 1.000 streams = 1 album sold or something?). And Bon Jovi aren't cool anymore, don't do too much of promo appearances, the "single releases" from 2020 are already too long ago and all of them tanked. So I expected worse than the chart positions we know so far. |
The only reason I have Spotify app downloaded on my PC, is to check how many times a song was listened. These numbers are updated daily.
Just in case anyone is interested: From the 6 new songs 5 have about 150 000 - 180 000 listens, but one (Beautiful Drug) has 676 841. Obviously because it was played live and people searched for it. The bonus tracks were only released on Monday. Yesterday Shine and Luv Can had ~20 000 listens, but today Shine is still only at 22 279, but Luv Can is now at 126 175, so that must've been promoted somewhere, though I have no idea where. |

However Luv Can is having more views than Shine. At least down here they were n° 7 an 8 on iTunes one week ago. |
#24 in Finland.

I don't know which country she referred to, but earlier someone tweeted something like: Leave it to Bon Jovi to debut at number 20 with 2020. :)
|
#3 in Switzerland
On a side note, #3 was peak position for What About Now, This Left Feels Right and Keep The Faith. ;-) |
