Damn, you have to pay to read the whole thing :/

YOVANAfromPeru 01-11-2022 04:19 AM

I think that's pretty all:
'By the age of 18, the last year of high school, I became a bit more rebellious. I knew I wasn’t going to end up in my village. One summer evening in Stockholm at a Bon Jovi concert I was lucky to meet the band afterwards. Richie Sambora fell for me and started to send me flowers when I got back home. A few days later he invited me to join the band’s European tour on their plane — I said “why not?” and told my mother I would be back in two days. I skipped school and came back a week later… oops.'
Here's a jovitalk thread: https://drycounty.com/jovitalk/bon-j...rticle-t11916/

Eveline 01-11-2022 11:01 PM

Thanks! Turns out it's nothing new ;)

Anyone got $11k spare? Orianthi just released a signature PRS series. Love a PRS and this colour is lovely.
Bit expensive though for me. I’m only $10,900 short [emoji16]

That is sweet! PRS makes a great guitar but that price is impossible to justify.

Richie is a creep. All the more so as he has gotten older and weirder.

Yeah. Creepy and cringe for me.

I think it might be remotely possible that Richie has issues dealing with his age..

Captain_jovi 02-17-2022 03:16 PM

It's an older dude trying to navigate Twitter. It's painfully obvious when it's him and when it's a social media manager. I don't think he's creepy, he just doesn't know how to use it.

Yeah I was thinking the same - almost certainly a sign he's never going back.

YOVANAfromPeru 03-31-2022 11:25 PM

Why they have to cut the best part?

Thinny 03-31-2022 11:48 PM

That retired comment must have come as a bit of a slap in the face....understandable why people would think that though.

Shame they cut him off just as he was about to tell them (I presume) about this new material!?

Butters 04-01-2022 12:37 AM

Jesus, that is painful to listen to. Wow.

Rdkopper 04-01-2022 03:25 AM

I think Joe Biden makes more sense then this dude.

She called him out for being in retirement. Lol. Richie said "I'm not retired, I just don't play or release new music".

Which I find odd. There are plenty of other artist with less popularity and fans who find ways to put out music.

If you remember the same thing happened with the RSO album. It was finished and then they were back in the studio again working on it. It wasn't that long ago that he was pictured in the studio again, so I think he has a problem of just leaving things alone and saying it's done. The RSO album ended up coming out on BMG in the end. Getting someone to release it won't be an issue. I know of several labels that would kill to release a Sambora album, but maybe he's setting his sights too high. A really good indie label will serve him better than a major and work harder for him!

Agreed. I think the experience with Dangerbird really turned him off of trusting smaller labels. But, a lot like Jon, he's not doing a heck of a lot to show he wants people to hear the new music. Apart from the clips on Norm's Rare Guitars it's been silent since RSO it feels like.

Thinny 04-01-2022 05:28 PM

When you actually think about it he left Bon Jovi 10 years ago next year and all he's released is the RSO album. What a waste of time at his age! I know he's toured sporadically but the lack of new material over that time is such a shame and a wasted opportunity.

People say that the whole "wanting to slow down and do less, etc" was an excuse but the evidence seems to suggest otherwise...so who knows?

I half-agree I think? Like it's just odd to want to slow down and do less while also recording easily a hundred songs, talk about them coming out soon and then not? Like he's clearly putting in the time to record all this stuff and talks about touring. Obviously the pandemic is a HUGE factor in this and maybe he came close a few times to releasing but but for all intents and purposes, the dude is retired until he does something to show otherwise.

I really think once he "left" in 2013 with so much press on him, gone back to promoting Aftermath.

Yeah it's very strange all in all. Either way it's clear the mayham and chaos that was the RSO project was down to him. She released an album since they stopped working together, while his feels like RSO part two (minus the O) at this stage...

Certainly the first leg of his tour after he left was like Aftermath part two. Luke Ebbin was even still on board for those shows.

But that was, what, early 2014? And mostly festival dates. I am very hazy on this period but I remember a run of festivals in 2014. It was Aftermath in lineup but not so much in promotion. The video in the can for I'll Always Walk Beside You never saw the light of day, the EP they were planning never got done. To me it felt so strange that he'd rather be doing his own thing, which is absolutely his right to do, but not keep doing it? Could be a management problem, I really don't know. But it feels like everyone gave up on promoting the album at the height of his press-time.

Rocket 04-01-2022 06:59 PM

In 2014 he combined a solo tour with supporting Dolly Parton on her tour, playing guitar on LYHOM. I didn't know at the time that she'd covered that song so when she brought him on stage at Glastonbury I screamed, shoved my camera in my sister's hand and told her to record it, cried at the end, announced to our group that I didn't care who we saw for the rest of the festival and bought everyone a drink. It just so happened that I was wearing the t-shirt I'd picked up at his concert with Orianthi in London a few weeks before, which made the whole thing even better. It's fair to say it was one of the musical highlights of my life.

This video doesn't have the best audio quality, but you get the picture.

That moment was so bizarre and at the same time so cool. It is one of those moments that you cannot forget.

That guitar outro... you can sense the discomfort of Dolly and her band because it seems like Richie never going to end and that's fantastic, like when you watch Back To the Future and Marty plays Johnny B. Good at the Under the Sea Enchantment Dance.

That was crazy.

Matthes 04-01-2022 08:01 PM

Good lord... this is embarrassing on so many different levels.

Even for Richie who was never been shy of talking bull****, this is close to be his absolute low point. Bragging about knowing a dead musician, who I somehow doubt was really close with Richie, and then praising his own "popularity" just a few seconds later in a "conversation" with these three lunatics.

Richie is so desperate to spew any type of relevance he has left. 15 years ago, I would have thought Richie would end up legendary. Now he's just one notch above or below Sebastion Bach...
