Very sad to hear that Tom Petty has passed. One of the last true rock n' rollers. I personally rate their last album, "Hypnotic Eye" as some of his best work. From a selfish perspective, I would've loved to hear more music from the man. Rest in peace Tom, you were taken too early.

Jon and Tom did a lot of charities together in the mid to late 90s both contributing to multiple Special Olympics shows...

Having listened to Tom most of yesterday, this was my early highlight. It's not a deep cut by any means but I hadn't heard this one prior to his death and I think it's great.

This is a good list
http://www.rollingstone.com/music/li...rk-out-w506747 Tom Petty is that singer nobody under 30 knows by name but whose songs you've heard more than once, be it on a classic rock radio station, or in another singer/band sound and style. Very understated artist but very influential nonetheless |

I didn't know Tom Petty, until I listen "won't back down" covered by Bon Jovi before Have a nice day for the first time. Awesome those two songs together. |
New York Times:
In a statement posted to Mr. Petty’s Facebook page...his wife, Dana, and daughter, Adria, wrote that Mr. Petty suffered from “many serious ailments including emphysema, knee problems and most significantly a fractured hip,” but that he continued to tour, worsening his conditions. |
