I think it comes down to two things (or maybe three):

-Jon's work ethic vs. his age: time is running fast, so he wants to keep going and cant have too long of a break anymore

-Jon's voice

-Sambora's involvement in the future

These are the main factors which will affect the following years. There's not much promotion to be done for THINFS and Jon clearly knows what his audience really wants to hear (old HITS). He can pretend to be "valid" and put as many new songs on the setlist as he wishes but the cold fact is that anniversary Slippery When Wet or New Jersey tour with Sambora back in fold would be cash magnets ALL OVER THE WORLD. Many acts are doing those (playing anniversary tours of their past albums), so hopefully we get some too.

I Just can't see Jon getting in to the whole anniversary tour thing....

It will have to be a different tour if they tour those places next year as the album would’ve been out 3 years by they time some countries see them.

He already said in an interview as i have said already that he's gonna put out a new album for 2019 and tour it.
Let's hope it happens and he doesn't change his mind (Unlikely I bet).

What's next?

BJ are gonna tour as long as people want it and believe me, people prefer something to nothing. Every tour now feels like it could be the last so bitchin' or not, fans will flock! Dunno about Richie's involvement bc can't see him just "squeezing" between Shanks and Phil on stage like he did at RHOF. Richie had his reasons back then and excessive touring was just one of them. Shanks must retire as the band's producer and Phil X go back to his own band but then, is Jon going to trust Richie again after so many years apart and having in mind all the trouble he had caused him in the past? His voice might be gone but it's just one problem now. With Richie on board, he can expect just anything. And no matter how much they love each other still, don't think that's gonna happen anytime soon. I wish they got together and write again, miss their voices blending into one *sigh*
