Bounce review (I was quite suprised)

http://www.metalmasters.net/rcd-bonjovi_bounce.html

This site is just full of all heavy metal, Slipknot, Sepultura, Korn, Murderdolls, etc... and I was quite suprised to see a review for Bounce. I thought it'd be really bad, putting the band down. But, it's a good review!

BON JOVI
Bounce
Island Def Jam Music Group

You know, maybe radio doesn’t want to play any Bon Jovi, or left over hair-bands, but they should take note…we, the listening public still dig that stuff. Yeah, we may not admit in public conversation, but when your by yourself in the car, you slide in that Bon Jovi CD, you know the one that whenever someone notices it you defend your posterity by saying "…aw, man…my little sister must have left it, it isn’t mine. I swear…" yeah, right! So when no ones looking, you sing your brains out to 'You Give Love Bad Name', or maybe you mellow things out with 'Blaze Of Glory', whatever, point is you still dig the stuff. Well, add "Bounce" to your collection.

Bon Jovi's eighth studio CD, "Bounce" starts off with a powerful tune called 'Undivided'. An honest and unity affirmative take on the tragedy of 9-11. This is an anthem rocker, replete with strong guitar lines and a good bass and drum sound supporting the track. There are several
great sing-along tracks on this disc, 'Misunderstood', the new video release, is a song that well explains the ongoing battle of lack of communication between ladies and gents. Really, give this song a listen and you'll recognize yourself. Another great track is 'Love Me Back To Life'. Lyrically, this song too is one that those of us who have dared wander the roads of love, lust, and just damn poor judgment can relate
to. Plus, it’s ballsy.

Richie Sambora plays just the right riffs and has a great tone. That's one of the great things about Richie’s playing, he never overplays a note, and doesn't really get the credit he deserves for his style and technique. 'Hook Me Up' is another rocker, edgy and smooth at the same time. Jon Bon Jovi has always had a way with words. He can take the most common monologue, and a punchy hook, and voila! a great ditty is born. He’s also a great story teller, as 'Right Side of Wrong', and 'Joey' proves. It’s gotta be that Springsteen stuff in the Jersey air or something.

What about the ballads you ask? Present and accounted for albeit a bit more mature minded. If 'All About Lovin' You' isn’t an ode to Jon’s long time friend/lover/wife Dorothea then I don't know what is.

Overall the band sounds great, Jon’s voice is stronger then ever, even though he doesn't climb into the rafters ala 'Runaway' anymore, his emotional aim is still on. I read a review where someone just gabbed about how this album sounds like Creed-lite…I honestly don't hear it, buddy. I'd recognize that it’s Bon Jovi in 3 notes, and, uh…who was here first? Maybe Creed sounds like Bon Jovi!!! And the next time someone disses your Bon Jovi CD, be a man…tell them it’s yours and sing your balls off.

That is a good review. That first paragraph nailed it. There aren't too many people I know of that will willingly admit that they're Jovis. Even I used to be like that.

Thanks for posting. I always suspected that many had that attitude but it's nice to see someone actually admit it Good review too. I think I'll put it back in the car!

Cool, It was great to read a positive review about the album. Of course, on the negative side, the writer really only pointed out the stronger songs on the album and failed to mention trash like "Open All Night" and "You Had Me From Hello"..........

Yeah, it's a great review considering that these lot on this site are big fans of all the metal bands; Slipknot, Muderdolls, etc, and they can realise how even the bands that take all the stick for being too soft, crap, old... whatever, are really masters of rock!!
