however, its good.

am hoping to get heartbreak town recorded on friday. it'll just be me and my acoustic (and possibly a bass line..) onto MD then to mp3 but it should be clear.

At a moment i'm having peack of crativity. Coz most of my days i'll be at room studying alone, so it overflowing me. :)

tawtami 12-02-2003 08:39 PM

if we all have capability to record (the instrumentalists amongst us anyhow)
we can compile either a multi track thing and mix it down, or a worse quality one where we track directly to the recording....

Adrian 12-02-2003 11:45 PM

Well, from what I've heard so far, if different musicians record different stuff we can mix it all together (the musically minded members can, I don't even play an instrument :( ).
So should I go ahead with the D.C. website/message board/mailbox (wmbm)? It sounds like we're gonna have a couple recordings within the week, and we should probably have someplace D.C. only to put them and give feedback on them, until at least we're ready to release samples/singles. You're the manager, so you give the word. :D Do I go ahead with the wmbm, or not?
Tawtami:That's great news on Heartbreak Town! I can't believe the band will actually have a song to call its own! WOW!!! Keep up the good work!

So how many days it takes???. I can't wait to see it, we should put our pics in there also.

Arash 12-05-2003 07:07 AM

Thanks Arash. :D

So howz ur gig went???.

Adrian 12-05-2003 07:53 PM

I actually started a Happy Birthday Allmike thread in NBJ forum...

Allmike:It won't be a website per se. It'll be an email account where members will post links (in the form of letters composed in the account) to finished or half completed songs. Then when we want some input on it, we ask various members of JT (I'm thinking moderators perhaps) to review the songs (which will be links in the email account) and if they want to review our stuff, we give them the password to the account. I'm going to go make the account right now.

Adrian

PS Don't make me the manager! You're doing a great job!

tawtami 12-06-2003 04:39 AM

mm.. happy birthday allmike for the other day. i havent been around- ive been ill. am hoping that its just a bad turn in the anaemia otherwise we're looking at more prodding by hospitals... :S

anyhow... tomorrow we will hopefully have a song recorded.

sunday sometime it will be avaliable.. id love to say before then, but seeing as im going to see iron maiden tomorrow night i dont think its gonna happen somehow...
but we were testing the equipment today and its sounding good, quite clear which is nice.

the version you'll get is acoustic, with lead vox, and the spaces...
i guess its arash's job to come up with the wonderstuff there...
harmonies i can do if no one else has an idea... :)

hoping it will be up by sunday evening...
well, avaliable anyhow...
then i can sort stuff out..
and on the mail stuff - y not have like a webstorage account we can all access as well ... then we can post songs up.

let me know what you want done with this.

hope everyone is okay.

That is great sara. And i think Arash can fill the empty things.
Take care about health, i hope ur alright.
Adrian, first u do that we see how it come up. Otherwise we can do our own wesite with the help of who know about it.

Adrian 12-08-2003 02:35 AM

Still here, just a little busy. Tried to do the email account thing, the both sites I tried are down. I'll try again tomorrow. Please do not put up links to songs until the account is open. Thanks. Tawtami:Hope you're feeling better. Take care.

Adrian

So in which website ur doing the email account??. Can some one pls send me full list of lyrics.

Adrian 12-08-2003 04:17 PM

I'll donate one of my many email accounts to the cause. :D
To log in, go to:http://mail.ananzi.co.za/ and in the 2 boxes over on the right, enter the information I'll PM to every member of the band.

Note:This my private email account. When the DC account goes up, I'd kinda like this one back. Also, I went through and deleted my mail that I had in here, but if anyone finds any of my mail, please don't read it. Post a notice on the board here of where you found it and I'll go get rid of it. Its nothing bad or anything, just stuff from my personal email account. Thanks.

Adrian

allmike 12-09-2003 01:05 PM

Got it. But does it hold the big files like songs??.

Adrian 12-09-2003 04:05 PM

Theoretically, it could hold songs. Zipped songs probably. Its a 10 megabyte box, so we should be able to hold a lot of stuff there. I've now sent all the relevant information to the band members. If you're on this list, you've gotten a PM containing the account name and password:

Allmike
Tawtami
Arash
The Walrus

By the way, what would you think about me PMing that Wild X The Wind (I think that's her name) and asking if she wants to do D.C. artwork now? She said to contact her when we finalized the name.

Adrian

Wild_x_Wind 12-09-2003 05:56 PM

did i hear my name? :D yeah i can start on the artwork now- just give me an idea of what you want!

tawtami 12-09-2003 06:21 PM

other than that could we not get a webstorage account too?

Adrian 12-10-2003 02:10 AM

Wild X Wind:Well, we're looking for a cover for our D.C. cd. It needs to look appropriately western, but not like a John Wayne movie. Something with a mountain or oil derrick featured prominently in the middle. D.C. needs to be in a western looking font, maybe distressed brown Chiller or something like that. Maybe some fire on the cover too. I came up with an idea for a cover: A knife buried almost up to the hilt in a patch of desert, with D.C. inscribed on either the blade or handle. Don't know how it'd be done, or what relevance it has to the band, but it just struck me as somehow appropriate.
Tawtami:I don't know how to do webstorage. Even saving stuff to my computer from other people's webstorage accounts. I've always had trouble with 'em, don't know why. If you want to set one up in conjunction with our "message board" at Ananzi, please do. It'd be good to have a better way of storing songs.
D.C.:My idea of posting in the account by sending the account mail from itself doesn't work. For some reason they don't like it sending mail, so please either save your message as a "draft" or send it from another email account.
Everyone:Sorry I didn't participate in nominating the band for the Most Creative award. I didn't even see that they had an award for that until it was too late. Sorry. I was also suprised to read that I'd gotten 2 individual nominations for best lyricist from The Walrus and JoviGirl. Thank you to everyone who nominated me. I appreciate it. :)

Adrian

Wild_x_Wind 12-10-2003 02:27 AM

Adrian- i REALLY like the idea of the whole knife thing. but like you i'm not sure how it can be done because i'd need to have just the right pictures to do it with. however, i will search around and i will see what i can find for pics- for example, if i find a better mountain photo than a derrick photo, then i'll probably have to go with the mountian, and vice versa. i will also look into the knife idea. and i have a few western fonts that i think will work well. not sure when i'll have it finished, but i'll be sure to post it when it's done.

~Ami

Wild_x_Wind 12-10-2003 03:31 AM

does anyone know the exact dimensions i'll need to make it? i don't want to make it too small by accident.

Adrian 12-10-2003 05:12 AM

Dimensions should be the same size as any other CD cover. I think its 4x4/12 inches. 72 resolution should be good.

Thanks,

Adrian

Wild_x_Wind 12-10-2003 05:44 AM

yeah i wasn't sure on what the size is for an album cover so i thought i'd double check.

Adrian 12-10-2003 04:10 PM

I've got a new bit for that song I did a chorus for, Hands Of Time. What do you think:

When you're all alone
When you're reaching out
Remember you and I
I'll take your hand
Reach through time
I'm reaching too
These hands are mine

Might work as a bridge. I really think this song could be good, sort of a BOR type song. Also, I'd like to write Straight Out Of Dry County with The Walrus (since we did BIDC) but I haven't seen him anywhere around here recently. Anybody know where he went? If you're reading this, just stop in and say you're still here, ok? Thanks.

Adrian

Captain Walrus 12-10-2003 07:41 PM

Yeah, i'm still here... not in an active mood at the moment though. Workload at school, plus a part time job, plus getting dumped by my girlfriend..... I'll try and get into it, but no promises. Sorry

Keep On Rockin'

Adrian 12-11-2003 12:08 AM

Sorry to hear about that! Take whatever time you need, really. No need to work on this when you don't want to. I'll keep writing, but can you stop in every couple of days, just to do a quick review of what I write? And I'll put the Straight Out Of Dry County project on hold for a while. I want the DC songs to be collaborative, since you write them so much better than I do. Maybe we can use this time while you're away from the band to develop the artwork and actual music for the already written songs.

Take care,

Adrian

Wild_x_Wind 12-11-2003 01:07 AM

ok question- are y'all thinking about selling the finished cd? because there's this pesky little problem called copyrighted material... so unless i go out to Wyoming myself and snap a pic of an oil derrick there's really no way i'll be able to use any of the pics i find- but i only found one decent picture anyway, and that one i'd need to ask permission to use by the photographer and that's just an annoying thing to have to do, lol. um i did find some mountain pictures and desert photos and a few ghost town-ish type pics also that i think i can use without being sued, lol. ... no knives though. i'd really like to use the pic of the derrick but like i said it's copyrighted.

allmike 12-11-2003 02:00 PM

First of all congrats for everyone in DC who got nominated in this year JOVITALK award. I think this should have been nominated for 'TOPIC OF THE YEAR'. But i know there is more important things then just get nominated, like releasing our own CD. That would be awsome.

Adrian: I think u have thought about everything. That is really good idea which u have put there.Do u wanna make any changes to 'Living on hope' song?. 'Hand of time' seem to be good one.

Tawtami: So did the song u posted in our email?. So do u have lick for any other song?.

Walrus: I hope u can get through ur bad time, what else can heal u then writing good songs. But if ur not upto u it, take ur own time no problem.

At last anyone intrested in writing a CHRISTMAS SONG??. I have a bit idea about it.

Wild_x_Wind 12-12-2003 06:55 AM

just an update on the artwork- it's coming along really well, however it is rather different than what you asked for. so i'm not sure what you'll think of it. but that aside, it's turning out very original, and there should be no copyright problems. it should be done by the weekend if i have time.

Wild_x_Wind 12-12-2003 10:47 PM

ok guys, i really hope you like it!! unfortunately if there's something you don't like about it, depending on what that is, it's most likely i will not be able to change it.

Adrian 12-13-2003 12:02 AM

Wild X Wind:Wow!!! That's a great picture. Very Creed-ish, I think. I like the cowboy over to the left. By the way, what's the black arm-looking thing in the lower left corner? Do you think you could do some other pieces of artwork for the CD? Also, please email this picture to the band's email address: Traitor(at)ananzi(dot)co(dot)za, replacing all parenthesed words with their correct punctuation. I'll send you a link to the website, and the password and intructions for logging in over the weekend. Welcome to the band!
Tawtami:How's Heartbreak Town coming? You got a recorded song yet?
Arash:Did you finish the guitar work for Win Or Lose yet? If so, could you send it to Tawtami, so she can start on vocals? Do you have any ideas for guitar work for any of the other songs?
Allmike:I don't like the idea of doing a Christmas song, for several reasons. 1.D.C. will debut sometime next summer or fall (hopefully), which isn't a very Christmassy time. 2.Doing a Christmas song on a CD full of non-Christmas music seems kind of gimmicky to me. Now as a demo...that could work... 8) I'm not gonna make any changes to Living On Hope, I don't think. I'll go back and reread it, and get back to you on it though.

Great job all around!

Adrian

Disclaimer:No part of the finished D.C. product will be able to be sold, as it interferes with official BJ copyrights.

Wild_x_Wind 12-13-2003 01:11 AM

on his shadow? i was going to fix that, but i forgot. but i adjusted it now.
sure i can do some other art for you guys! :) glad you like the work!
i'll email the cover asap.

tawtami 12-13-2003 09:21 PM

hey guys....

ive been having problems with logging in and it aint telling me when people are posting... not good..

im kinda against a christmas song at the moment too... wont rule it out entirely tho...

i like the artwork- very good!

as for the recording, yeah its on its way, need to retake it tho so expect it soon.
have got a crush on till thursday with essays due in so we're looking at this next weekend.. i think.. sorry for the delay.

allmike 12-14-2003 03:40 PM

I really like the Cover, it is really cool. 8) I also having problem with that account, don't u think we should open webstorage account. There u can hold more songs i think. But yet a moment let it be.

I also don't like to see a Christmas song in a album, it is more like a single. Anyway it is not possible for this christmas, let see next christmas. But i already written half of the song and 2 more half songs. But i'm not going to post till all other songs gonna finalish coz otherwise it would be really confusing situtaion. But may post the christmas song by next week if it is ready, that is if u guys don't mind.
So Adrian, how many song u think we should put in a album, i perfer between 10 to 12 song would be nice.

tawtami 12-14-2003 10:45 PM

i think we should see whats worthy of the album before deciding how many songs yet...

and my problem was with jovitalk, not the email

Adrian 12-16-2003 04:06 PM

Tawtami:I'm looking forward to hearing Heartbreak Town! Keep up the good work.
Allmike:A Christmas single? I don't think that would work, unless you're talking about next Christmas. Also, re the number of songs on the album, I kind of agree with Tawtami, we should wait and see what's worthy of going on the album before making a decision. What would be great is a 12 song album, with about 2-4 recorded demos that we could release with singles.
Wild X Wind:Did you get my PM? Have you signed into the account yet? Also, what would you think about doing another piece of art for the album? Do you have any thoughts on it? I was thinking of a highway sign next to a road with D.C. on it. Thanks again.

Adrian

allmike 12-16-2003 04:46 PM

Yeah it is not possible this christmas to release an single. May be next christmas, but that too far and we can see when it get there. But i'm full of christmas spirit at a moment :) so i already written half of it. May post it around christmas time here or in NBJ section.
Yeah first we have to solve the serious problem of how to record properly with using all the instruments. Do guys think we should put ad here for a 'Drumer' and 'Keyboardist'?.

Wild_x_Wind 12-16-2003 06:07 PM

yeah i did get your pm, and i was able to sign in.
i like that idea of the road sign, and it's a very simple thing to do if i can find the right pictures for it! i think it would be cool to make like a sort of series of artwork that goes from the road to the actual destination. for example... the next piece of art i'll make will be the highway sign. and then the next one could be some gas station or small store in the middle of nowhere- and off in the distance maybe have another sign that says how much further it is, something simple, like just a sign with D.C. on it and an arrow pointing somewhere. then when we get to the town- have a "Welcome to D.C." (or something to that extent. would you be against using the actual name Dry County in the artwork?) sign focused on. and for the last piece, the actual town- someplace that looks like a ghost town. how does all that sound? it's basically just a rough draft of what i think would be a good layout for the cd. things will change though depending on the photographs i end up working with. but what do you think of the idea?

Adrian 12-18-2003 12:13 AM

Wild X Wind:Oh yeah, I like the idea of progressing photos! It'd make for great insert photos/single covers.
Allmike:I think you should post your Christmas poem in NBJ. I think that'd be the best place for it, as more people would read it than if you posted it here. Also, if you want to post ads for a drummer and keyboardist here in Other Bands and also in NBJ, that'd be great too. Theoretically, we don't really need a keyboardist (Creed gets away with just a drummer, guitarist, and singer) but a keyboardist would be a nice addition. Make sure to state that the main requirement for filling the post is the ability to record.

Adrian

Wild_x_Wind 12-18-2003 03:42 AM

just a general question- if you have no intention of selling the finished product... why bother with things like cd jackets and the number of songs to put on a cd if you aren't even going to get it out for people to hear?

Ok i will post it in NBJ, but it is for 'DC'. Instead of Keyboardist how about applying for Bass player?. Adrian do u know any one who play drums?.

What we're going to do is release the whole thing, probably as a huge zip file to DryCounty.com when we're done with it. (Actually, that's just a guess, its up to Allmike as manager to decide how we should release it, but that's how I'd do it) Artwork for a CD insert, tracks, lyrics, everything needed for a CD, except the CD and case. Once we've got the majority of the songs recorded, we'll also release a few singles. I've heard of bands releasing packages like this on websites before. The artwork we'll use to promote the band, CD, and singles.
Allmike:I don't know anyone who plays drums unfortunately. Why don't you put an add up for all three, drummer, keyboardist, and bassist.
I've got another bit for Hands Of Time, definitely a first verse:

I'm sitting here now
Trying hard to write what I feel
But its been so long
The memories are gone
Maybe I'm just trying to heal
I see you often
Always with someone new
Wishing I was him
I always did
If only you knew
Time flies but it can't erase
Everything we've done
Some mistakes can't be unmade
But when I face down what I feel inside
I realize you're still the one

Any comments? Critisism? Is critisism mispelled? Walrus, can you provide some comments on this one?

Adrian
