i can walrus... just message me when you're around...

as for the strings bit... im not sure theyre needed,

partly cause ive switched the rhythm part around a bit (all will be revealed) and partly cause of the instrumentation...
as for the 1st verse being just drums and strings, that will leave it too empty relative to later, but i know how to fix that, :D

the intro idea is fantastic though... definately go for that!!

one matter that may complicate things ever so slightly is that ill be moving at the end of may- which wont be a huge problem in itself, as im gonna have my pc but not necessarily a connection/fast connection, but if i have all the parts i need by then i can just play around -also i dont know about anyone else but im going into the last stretch at uni...it'll be fine...but i have to balance this out with exams

more on all of that later though...
as i need to get some stuff going on.

allmike 04-18-2004 08:03 PM

I'm glad that we can finally get one complete song soon, i 'm sure as Sara said it would be much easier for other songs to record afterward, only thing is u need to spend some time.

Adrian 04-20-2004 11:51 PM

Sometimes its so hard to keep carry on
Sometimes I think I gonna breakdown
All these wounds making me cry alone
All these stains burning me deep inside…..too much.

Time when I try till my strength die off
Time when I cry till all my tears dry out
I had lost faith in my self too may times
I just wanna run away from this grave yard….forever.

Pre chorus:

No morning is coming in my night
No sun is rising in my darkest hour
But I have to hold on; I have to carry on,
I have to live on, nothing but…. on hope.

Chorus:

I’m living on hope
Hope to make tomorrow better day
I’m living on hope
Hope to find another Everest way
When everything turn sore in world
I’m trying all alone just praying hard
When all my spirit washed away, God
I have nothing but live on hope.
Yeah I’m living on hope… living my dream.

Versa 2:

Not many things which I can smile on
Not many nights where I slept carefree
Too many questions putting me puzzle in
Many answers just not there for me to get….to trust.

I’m getting scared by sound of day light
I’m shivering to the worm touch of sun rays.
Nobody knows what my life leading into
Nobody can hold my life from falling apart…only me.
Pre chorus:

No morning is coming in my night
No sun is rising in my darkest hour
But I have to hold on; I have to carry on,
I have to live on, nothing but…. on hope.

Chorus:

I’m living on hope
Hope to make tomorrow better day
I’m living on hope
Hope to find another Everest way
When everything turn sore in world
I’m trying all alone just praying hard
When all my spirit washed away, God
I have nothing but live on hope.
Yeah I’m living on hope… living my dream.

Versa 3:

I’m fighter fighting till my last breath
I’m dreamer dreaming for the glitter day
Someday sun gonna shine, star gonna glow….in my life.
Till hope is alive, I’m gonna live on…..hope of dream.

Chorus:

I’m living on hope
Hope to make tomorrow better day
I’m living on hope
Hope to find another Everest way
When everything turn sore in world
I’m trying all alone just praying hard
When all my spirit washed away, God
I have nothing but live on hope.
Yeah I’m living on hope… living my dream.

Ok, this is Allmike's Living On Hope. Allmike:Please don't take this the wrong way, but I just read through it, and I'm gonna need to change it. A lot. Its way too much like HBT, and there's a lot of phrasing and stuff in it that I'm not quite sure I understand. It'd be great as one of your poems, however I'm not entirely sure I can translate it into a song. The chorus is great, I won't have to change it much, but I'm not certain about the verses. Ultimately, I'd like this one to come out as some kind of rock anthem, a la Living On A Prayer or Hook Me Up. I'll see what I can do.

Walrus? You wanna help? I definitely think I'm gonna need a co-writer for this one (though if you can't or don't want to help on this one, I'll give it a shot).

Adrian

tawtami 04-21-2004 12:03 AM

it is doable.... im getting fragments of tune... but it does need some work...
it might be easier for me to play with it and refine after its been songified though? (although feel free to consult or whatever)

allmike 04-21-2004 12:19 AM

As i said before u entitle to make any changes in any of my songs which i post here for a band. :P So if u want to re-write with taking chors then i have no problem with it. :)

tawtami 04-21-2004 12:22 AM

actually.... anyone mind if i have a go at rewording some of it???
it doesnt have to be used... but ive got a coupel of ideas....

Yeah sure go ahead, at the end of the day how it gonna fit into a song is more important then anything else i suppose. :D

tawtami 04-21-2004 12:27 AM

no it isnt.....

but if we want to use it it is important....

Adrian 04-23-2004 11:14 PM

Any progress on recording?

Tawtami:If you have any ideas, post 'em! This one has been a little hard for me to work on, I'll probably have something next week, so if you've got anything, we'd be more than happy to read (hear?) it.

There's the original chorus, here's the new one:

Living On Hope
Tomorrow's gonna be a better day
I know I'm gonna find a better way
I'm all alone in this world
But my spirit's free
I'm Living On Hope
Hope for tomorrow
Just livin' on a dream

Whatdy'all think? Like it?

I like it, good work. :P

Adrian 04-28-2004 06:19 PM

I'm thinking this one could be D.C.'s It's My Life. I've got a few ideas for it that I need a little more time to work on, but I think I'll have something new soon.

Thanks for the responses. I'm glad you all like this one.

But i got little change to it

Livin' in a brave new world
Can't stop and look back
Gotta move forward
I have to live to my future
Not struck in to past

what you say?

allmike 05-03-2004 02:45 PM

I have to make anuncement, as we are needed one Bass player. I was talking to Mike other day and he said he is intrested but thing is he got the Bass guitar and all but doesn't have any idea about how to record it to PC.
So what u guys thing about joing Mike to DC, ofcoures it all come down to the ability to record. I need every one's honest opnion here.

Adrian 05-03-2004 04:07 PM

Changed your version up a bit, you actually got the feel I was aiming for better than I did.

About Mike joining bass, I don't really think its necessary. The one requirement we've always had is the ability to record, and besides that, Arash adds bass when he does the guitar track.

Adrian

Arash 05-03-2004 11:04 PM

i think it will be perfect if we can get a bass player, i was about to say that we would need one, i dont have actually a bass, i wanted to make them with computer, so why dont have a real player??? and about the recording, either me or sara can help him and tell him how to record.

btw, Jim, how's the recording, i was recording my parts today, hope to finish them by next days, and jim, how we gonna make the intro??? you know, the feedbacks....?

That what i was thinking too. :) IT would be much better with real bass player. And good thing i she own Bass guitar and he never liked anyohter instrument as Bass(that in unusal to me).
But i also waiting for other to say about this mattter.

Jim Bon Jovi 05-04-2004 02:50 PM

if mike can record then go for it.

arash i'll try and get the drum tracks laid down today or tomorrow since i'll have my mixer out recording some bits n pieces for ashlea. i'm waiting on a mesh head V pad so i'd rather wat till I've got that so it can open up more opportunities for the drums but i'll get them laid down as fast as.

RE: the feedback n stuff. i'll just have the 8 clicks on my recording that'll let sara line the guitars and drums to start in sync. I'll work out a little beat on a really high EQ'd kit so it'll sound like a loop and you just record your part in the same tempo and then sara can line them up yknow.

I think a nice overdriven fade in like the intro to some might say would be cool.

how many bars is the intro again?

Arash 05-04-2004 10:42 PM

intro is 8 bars, and then the 1st verse starts.

tawtami 05-05-2004 08:24 PM

im still around- just about to hit exam period though, and the medical stuff has kicked off again... the news isnt too good, but hey....

just to lket you know ive not forgotten you...

Adrian 05-06-2004 10:32 PM

Glad everyone's still here. Sorry to hear about the medical stuff. I hope you'll be ok. Good luck!

What would you guys think about taking off until the end of the lyrics writing contest? It'd give everyone from the band who's participating in the contest to write on their own, and for those who aren't writing, it'd be a nice break. Oh yeah, I brought up recording the winning lyrics a while ago, anyone support that idea?

I guess you must be pretty busy with ur studies. I hope everything will be fine for you?. So take care about ur health and heep us updating.

Just let us know what u think about Mike joing the band. and whether u can help him in recording and stuff.

Wild_x_Wind 05-07-2004 12:51 AM

thought i ought to check in just to let y'all know i'm still around. been keeping up on the thread but i haven't been able to make any art that i feel works quite yet.
i've also been having a slew of medical issues that have been bringing me in and out of the hospital over the last few weeks- i'll finally be going in for surgery on June 4th. but otherwise i'll be around and i'm always popping my head in here to see what's up.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here we have all kind of musicans. We should creat a band called 'Dry county'. what u think?

Wow i can't believe it, its been a years since it started.

HAPPY FIRST YEAR ANIVERSARY GUYS. I hope second year will be the best. :D

:fadein:

Adrian 05-08-2004 07:00 PM

Wild X Wind:I hope you'll be ok! Don't worry about not having done any artwork for a while. People run out of (or just can't translate) ideas some times. Happens to everybody.

Allmike:WOW!!! One year anniversary! Hopefully by this time next year, we'll have a whole CD recorded. *raises a bottle of root beer* Here's to one more! Congrats everybody!!!

Adrian

Adrian 05-12-2004 11:31 PM

Just bumping this up to the top again. Once the writing contest's done, I'll start working on LOH again.

I've also got an interesting idea for the CD booklet that I need to work out a little bit more before I suggest it.

Adrian

cool, can't wait to hear it.

Adrian 05-18-2004 04:21 PM

How's the recording coming? I'll start back with writing as soon as the lyrics contest is over.

Ok, here's my idea for the CD booklet. I was thinking it'd be cool if you could put together a band photograph, like in the KTF booklet (mimicing (sp) the I Believe picture on the first page would probably be easiest). It should be possible, if we all submitted standing photographs for the picture. Feasible? I'd like to hear what the rest of the band thinks about this, some people don't really like putting photos on the internet.

Adrian

Arash 05-19-2004 12:08 AM

haapy birthday dc :new-bday: (i know its too late, but im happy anyway! i just saw it now.)

Adrian, i dont want to disappoint you, but i dont think we're gonna have an album anytime, you see, we still havent finished the first song, believe me, each song will take more than months to be finished, we might have 2 or maybe 3 songs each year, and why you're wasting your time about booklets or album designs or the order of the songs? we cant make an album and how we're gonna publish it and print the artworks? and who will ever buy it? i doubt if anyone at here buy it, i dont care about these things if someone can do that or not, i'll be happy if there will be a real album someday, im talking about the record, we're not going to finish it, i think its better if each time we finish a song, we make it available here for jovitalkers to download it and tell what they think about it. i think its better if we forget the album and work on single songs.

dont count it as im tired and i want to leave the band, i really enjoy this band and i really want to play on dc songs, and ill do my best to make more songs, but u better think about what i said.

allmike 05-19-2004 12:26 PM

Arash, that is exactaly thinking about sometimes now. I'm really think we should go by song by sone instead of wait till for whole ablum to finish. Coz i'm sure it take ages and since most of musicans are busy with there other workm, it doesn't appear too bright for album at a moment. I rather go for a single to relase first(don't know exactly how to do it).
Once we finish HBT, i think we should release it somehow(may even give for download).

Anyone anything to say about this matter?.

Arash 05-19-2004 01:38 PM

yeah allwyn, thats what im saying, we're not doing this for money to release it, its just for fun and for trying to make a group work while we are all in different corners of the world, im saying when we finished HBT, we can also have WILD X WIND to do an artwork of it as if its a single, just to make an image for our work, and then ask peter to put it online and everyone can listen to it and download it(ofcourse only jovitalkers). then we can make another thread and ask people to comment on it.

Adrian 05-19-2004 04:13 PM

Perhaps we should poll the denizens of Dry County, see if they'd prefer a whole CD, or individual releases. I do like the idea of releasing the whole album as singles, but on the other hand, I like the idea of releasing the whole CD at once. It should be more up to the musicians of the band and the manager than it should be up to me though.

We're not going to sell the CD, we never were. Too many copyright conflicts with the D.C. theme. It was always going to be a download release.

I don't know what Britain has for summer breaks, if they're similar to US summer breaks, but I was thinking that the way this was going to work was that Tawtami was going to record several vocal tracks over the summer, and then the musicians of the band would go from there. It'd be a whole bunch of half-finished tracks, and then over the next few months, those song would be finished. I was working on several assumptions here, and probably a few of them are wrong, as I know nil about recording.

Adrian

Jim Bon Jovi 05-19-2004 07:17 PM

the problem with that is that in the recording process, vocals go down last usually witht he exception of backign vox and any punch ins done.

and without at least a basic backtrack with the progression then its goign to be very easy to lose the rythmn and melody and got out of tune

Arash 05-20-2004 12:10 AM

summer brakes doesnt help it adrian, we cant have more than 2 or maybe 3 songs throught the summer, it might be easy to record a whole album in even a month, but since we arent together, we cant make that happen. i really say u should forget about the album.

tawtami 05-21-2004 10:05 PM

yeah jim got that right... BUT - im pretty much out of the picture till july now, and then ill have moved house and been away and stuff and ive got 2 months to kill, SO i will be getting a lot of stuff (including my own album) recorded so ill do the DC stuff at the same time to work from...

then people can take it as it comes.. as it is.. im packing at the moment ready to move, my exams are in 2 weeks and i leave the country in 3.

arash: a little pessimistic there... i see what you're saying.. but it is possible...

by all means poll the rest of the board... and once we get going it will be easier... i promise.

i dont think there is a need for a poll, we have a manager and we ourselves can dicide what to do...

allmike 05-22-2004 08:38 AM

Ok here what i think we should o. We should wait for a while likt till summer gets over, if we still not able to do any progress anywhere, then we should go for releasing singles, if we really able to record some more songs, i guess album is possible.
So lets wait till end of summer and then we decide. What u guys think?.

tawtami 05-22-2004 09:44 PM

arash: no need to be nasty about it!
i was only responding to someone elses comment previously.
