This song isn't too complicated, an IML style rocker, so we don't really need long, descriptive verses, but we do need something catchy. I hate to sound like a broken record here, but we're 3-4 weeks away from summer ending, and we kinda need to get going if we want to get a bunch of songs finished by the end of the summer....sorry if that sounds rude... What does everyone think of these "song styles?" Basically, the closest song that you'd like to compare musically to a song we've written? Personally, I like these: Back Into Dry County = Dry County I'd Do Anything For You = If I Was Your Mother (I think the styles really fit here) Win Or Lose = The Distance Back = I'd Do Anything For Love (Meatloaf) Heartbreak Town = Dry County-like Hands Of Time = Bed Of Roses Straight Out Of Dry County = Dry County + I Am The Highway (Audioslave) Oh yeah, what would you guys think about doing a cover? I found a REALLY cool song that would be a great addition to the list, plus it'd be easy to finish quickly, since the only instrument in it is acoustic guitar. Thoughts? Adrian |

The cover I'm thinking of is an absolutely beautiful acoustic song called (I think) "In Time." I don't know who, if anyone did it first, or if it was written for the movie, but it's played by one of the characters in The Punisher. Here are the lyrics:

If you're trying to find stuff about it on the internet, good luck, you'll drive yourself crazy with the lack of info. I spent 5 months looking for the lyrics, just found 'em 2 weeks ago. Then I discovered you can download the song on WinMX. Its called In Time by Mark Collie (length is 2:45) and it appears it was written just for The Punisher.

Jim:I don't think you need a license to cover a song on a free album. Due to the Dry County related content we can't sell this album....do you expect us to go out and get a license from BJ for using the Dry County theme?

If no profits going to be made then it's OK.
And to answer your 2nd question. Actually they do. If you play in the school, the school will have a license that covers any music played in there. If they play somewhere else they "should" fill in a PRS (or other respective organisations) form declaring what they're covering. |

Well about cover song, it is not a bad idea. If one think the song is worht covering then it won't be problem i guess. Well yeah i personaly like some BJ cover espically the one which not released as a single like 'Heart breaking even' or 'My guitar bleeding...' |

Hey guys, i'm really sorry i haven't been able to stop in more, i've had an extremely busy summer with so many of my days tied up, just haven't had any time to come in and post, plus my computer completely died so i lost a lot of files and had to get a whole new comp. i did look over the new songs and everything that has been written and i'm loving it all! i'll be leaving again for another week on the first of Sept, but otherwise i should be around more and i will start on some new artwork for y'all! if there's anything specific you have in mind for it let me know.

Computers dying spectacular deaths...that sucks. My graphics card died a rather humorous, if annoying death a few months ago. Just crashed one day, the people at the computer repair store fixed it, but they could only get it to work with 3 monitors in the entire store. We wound up getting a new card. Anyway, sorry about you losing all your stuff. Did you have anything backed up?
And it's kinda cool knowing that someone is trying to put music to lyrics that I've helped write.... Glad you're both back! Wild X Wind, it's good that you'll be coming back soon. Through an acquaintance online, I got invited to join Gmail, Google's new email service. Its a got a 1GB inbox, which I figured would be great for storing songs, pics, ect. Think I should sign up? If so, what should I use for the name? DCBAND? DryCountyBand?

I really like the fence, stairs, grave, and record player pictures. They all look like they're pics from the Weathered CD jacket. 8) I really like them a lot. The stair and noose pics are kinda unsettling, the stairway especially. Looks like it goes into a haunted mine or something. Very cool!
One little critisism: Except for the record player, they look like they need a bit of smoothing, to me. The colors and edges seem to contrast a little too much. Good job! Adrian |

8) thank you both! :) the stairway actually leads to some old mexican building. the noose one also has part of a mexican home in it. but these were mostly to see what style you were looking for, so for any future designs i'll try to make them more along the lines of the fence/grave/etc images.
