Last time I thought it was over
Thought I was done
I knew it was the end
But the feeling's gone
And I've been numb so long
Didn't think I'd ever feel like this again
Today is different
Now I feel so new
Didn't think anyone
Could me me feel the way I do
Can you...

Wake Me Up
And open my eyes
Wake Me Up
Can you teach me how to fly
So I can leave this all behind
Wake Me Up
And show me how to feel alive
Can you Wake Me Up

How did we get where we are today
I have no past beyond right now
But my future is clear
I lived my life in the dark
And now that you're here
I can see I've got nothing to fear

Wake Me Up
And open my eyes
Wake Me Up
Can you teach me how to fly
So I can leave this all behind
Wake Me Up
And show me how to feel alive
Can you Wake Me Up

This is what I've got so far. Any comments/criticisms/revisions? Anyone want to help?

Tawtami:How's the recording coming? Have any songs done yet?

Wild X Wind:We might've discussed this before, but could you do highway signs? The green highway signs that say stuff like "Milkwaukee 1 Mile?" One of those saying something similar about Dry County would be really cool!

yes! i'd completely forgotten about that. i remember trying it a couple of times and it didn't work out the way i wanted it to, but i can give it another go, no problem. :)

Same here and still there is no news from Tawtami about when she actually gonna start recording. Well i'm not even see her on msn for long time.

Adrian 09-25-2004 07:30 PM

Yeah... :? you were right, Arash... I wish we'd at least get a note every once and a while from Tawtami, so she could tell us if there's any progress. The last time she posted she said she was recording some of her stuff and working on some of ours...I'd like to think that at some point in the future she'll pop on and tell us if there's anything new to report, maybe a few demos or something.

tawtami 09-26-2004 03:02 AM

okay: well here's the update.

firstly, due to random things happening ive ended up working 40 hour weeks for most of the summer, which to be honest has sucked. Three weeks ago; my HDD died a horrible death, losing everything. Last weekend I *finally* got my stuff over and done with- i rushed it through in a day and it sucks to be perfectly honest, (though if anyone wants to hear it then PM me.. ) The DC stuff, fortunately i had the sense to do on audio tape; next week im back at uni, so work is less and as soon as i get the one lead im missing i can get on and get it onto HDD. Im really sorry for delaying everything, and i feel really crap about it- id totally understand if you guys want to replace me and stuff... i feel like ive let people down and i dont like that.

im sorry.

Sorry to hear about all Sara, we never really said we want to replace or even thought about it. Well just hoping that ur able to sort out everything , so we can have some songs recording soon. :)

Adrian 10-02-2004 09:48 PM

As a way of forcing myself to write, I vowed I wasn't going to post till I'd finished WMU. However, that could be construed as kinda rude, since Tawtami came back. Sorry.

Glad you're back! I'm glad to hear that some DC stuff has been recorded. I look forward to hearing it. About replacing you, we wouldn't do that! Don't worry about it! IMO, every band member is irreplaceable.

I'll finish the song soon, I promise.

Captain Walrus 10-02-2004 11:13 PM

The last time, I thought it was over
That's it, and I was done
Back then I knew it was the end
But now the feeling's gone
Oh, and I've been numb so long
Didn't think I could ever feel like this again
Today is different
Now I feel so new
Didn't think anyone
Could make me feel the way I do
Can you...

Wake Me Up
And open my eyes
Wake Me Up
Can you teach me how to fly
So I can leave this all behind
Wake Me Up
And show me how to feel alive
Can you Wake Me Up

What happened to get us here today
Past is cloudy beyond right now
But for once my future is clear
I lived my life in the void
And now that you're here
I can see I've got nothing to fear
It all came unravelled
Now I feel so new
So wind the thread tightly
Give me my chance renewed
Can you...

Wake Me Up
And open my eyes
Wake Me Up
Can you teach me how to fly
So I can leave this all behind
Wake Me Up
And show me how to feel alive
Can you Wake Me Up

For all the times I lost my way
And all the times I thought I'd gone
And now for every time delay
The three hands must march on
And it's for you I'll always pray
To take me out of wrong
To a place that I belong.....

Don't know what you think of that, I just thought I'd have a go with like the first things that came into my head. Amended the stuff you've already written a tad, but if you don't like it, that's quite alright :)

Keep On Rockin'

Adrian 10-04-2004 04:13 PM

Glad you're back, Walrus!

Your additions are great, check out what I've tweaked/added, let me know what you think.

second chorus
Wake Me Up
And open my eyes
Wake Me Up
Can you teach me how to fly
So I can leave this all behind
Wake Me Up
And show me how to feel alive
Can you Wake Me Up

For all the times I lost my way
And all the times I thought I'd gone
The three hands must march on
And it's for you I'll always pray
To take me out of all that's wrong
Find a better place for us
A place where we belong.....

drum solo(let's give Jim something really fun to do on this one)

Show me how to feel again
Show me how to dream again
Show me how to love again
All my life is new
Can you...

Wake Me Up
And open my eyes
Wake Me Up
Can you teach me how to fly
So I can leave this all behind
Wake Me Up
And show me how to feel alive
Can you Wake Me Up

Like it? Comments? Criticism? Feel free to tweak, redo, etc and so forth. I think it needs an extended final chorus, or something else after the last one. Another few lines or something. Something different. I'm not sure what though.

Did you like the other songs I'd written in your absense?

Adrian

Adrian 10-08-2004 09:58 PM

Anyone? Comments? Can I add it to our database, along with the lyrics for In Time?

EDIT:Damn. It appears Ananzi is down. I don't relish the thought of going through the +60 pages looking for our songs again. If anyone has them saved or printed, could you email them to me? My address is in my profile, or it's Traitor @ dc email . com, sans spaces. If no one has them saved or anything, don't go looking for them, I'll do that.

Adrian

Adrian 10-13-2004 11:28 PM

From where I'm sitting, it looks like I'm one of the few (if not the only) people still hanging around? Any progress? Anything at all to report? Any comments on the song, whether I should put it and In Time in our database?

Adrian

Wild_x_Wind 10-14-2004 11:03 PM

i'm still here. i started on the art a while back, but after finishing a few i felt like it wasn't my best effort and it didn't fit DC. so once i get around to tweaking it a bit i'll post it.

Adrian 10-18-2004 10:28 PM

Glad you're still around. I know Tawtami's still out there working on transferring the taped stuff to computer (an update would be awesome  ), but it seems even manager Allmike has gone on extended hiatus.

To anyone who's reading this, does anyone have any ideas for a next song? I'm thinking another themed song again, to go along with our Dry County themed songs. Then again, Walrus said a few pages back that he had a song he wanted to work on with us, so if that's the case, I'm more than happy to do that. If not, any suggestions?

I now concur with Arash's previously stated opinion. Anything we record at this point should be released immediately without waiting to compile it into an album. If we ever get all the songs finished/released, then we can put an album together. (That doesn't mean we don't need artwork now :D )

Adrian

Wild_x_Wind 10-19-2004 10:32 AM

alright here's a bunch of stuff that i was just basically experimenting with. the last one is the one Adrian requested- DC ..next right. :) (and believe me man, it ain't easy making a sign to a place that doesn't exist. :P )

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...speedlimit.gif

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...roadclosed.gif

Adrian 10-19-2004 03:21 PM

Cool! I really like the "Next Right" pic...it looks like it's being viewed through a rain-washed windshield. The airport pic is like that too, but there's the contrast with the bright colors there. I don't know why, but it reminds me of a movie I saw a few years ago, The Mothman Prophecies. I think there was some camera work in there kinda like in the airport pic. The speed limit sign has to go on any album or song artwork we release. I'm not a huge fan of the green in it, but it adds some contrast. Other than that, it's perfect. I'm a little undecided on the road closed sign....DC is supposed to be a rather dry, deserty place, and that one looks like it's set going into a woods. Same with the narrow bridge pic, but that one looks like it's way out in the country...I don't know, but it kinda fits the desert theme to me. Good job on all of them!

This is kinda um, embarassing, since I'm the one who set it up, but it appears I've lost the password to the band acount at Gmail. Hopefully someone still has the password....if so, could you please PM it to me. Thanks much.

Walrus:If you'r reading this, what would you think about contributing "The Secret Project" to DC? I'm not even sure if you're still interested, or what, so could you let me know, either here or with a PM? Thanks.

GOOD! :D it wasn't an easy process, let me tell ya! i swear, that graphic was one of the most difficult ones i've made.

awesome. i thought it reminded me of the same thing actually! but i couldn't think of which movie.

i really love how that one turned out, but i was wondering how you'd take to the green. i don't think that's something i can change as a lot of it was all put together by chance (as is most artwork, but this one can't be adjusted)

i didn't think the road closed one fit DC, and although i like the bridge one i wasn't sure it was right for the band. but with everything i make i figure it's best to post it anyway since i put the work into it.

but thank you, i'm glad you like them! :D we seem to be on the same page when it comes to art so it makes things a lot easier.

Adrian 10-22-2004 10:34 PM

Well, I posted WMU in the band acount. Again, if anyone has the password for the GMAIL acount, PM me or email me through the link in my profile.

I'm also thinking, hesitantly, about finding some sort of free bulletin board for the band. Yeah, the two acounts were supposed to take care of that, but I can't honestly see the band staying together when/if DC goes down (which I've heard might happen in December if Peter doesn't take donations (which he's not at the moment)) and without a common, easily accessible meeting place, I think there'd be a low chance of DC surviving. Is anyone besides me and Wild (and occasionally Walrus) working on this anymore? Even Allmike has commented for nearly a month.... I know I've said this before, I just feel like we're close to either finishing something, OR reaching the end and disbanding. Anybody?

We need one more song for the album I think (I think we were shooting for 10 songs total) and I've got one I'm tenatively calling "Lost" bouncing around my head right now, so if no one has any suggestions or songs they'd like to work on, I'll start on that.

Wild:Glad we're on the same page for artwork, like you said.

Adrian

EDIT:Would the members of the band please send an email to the main band acount "Traitor @ ananzi . co . za" sans spaces and quotes. That way if anything unforseen happens, band members can be contacted. Or, if no one minds, I can collect the bandmember's emails, and email them to the acount myself.

We all here Adrian, just that without recording starting, there is nothing anyone could do. Let face it, without recording anysongs, we are not going anywhere and i don't know what happen to Tawtami, did u try to PM her and findout whats happening. And Where did u hear JT IS CLOSING???. Even the pay it forward forum which was stalled coz of uncertnty of JT is about to start again, i don;t see any topic saying or his comment saying it gonna close down. I really hope not, anyway if in that case also we can do our blog, so don't worry about it. No one is not intrested coz there is nothing happening(that is recording). But once something start, everyone will come back don;t worry about that.

And i lost all my PMs so i don;t have Gmail's account name or password and also the ananzi's. If u have pls send me too.

Adrian 10-26-2004 03:52 AM

Re:JT closing I had heard that it would be closing in September. In August (I think it was August) I PM'd Peter and asked if there was a place I could send donations, or if there was, if I could start a donation thread, seeing as JT would be closing down without some extra money. He wrote back saying that things had ironed themselves out, and the deadline had been extended to December. I haven't heard anything about JT closing beyond that.

Re:Blog I'll try and find a small, free message board somewhere. That'd be best. I can't see a blog working well for the band.

But they are re opening pay it forward and its mean there is not threat as such to JT for now coz it stopped coz of uncertainty about closing JT. I h ope it remain open for long...

Blog can work well Adrian and u can make it secret too, if u find something better then its no problem, but at moment starting recording more conern. If that starts lot of things will solve.

Adrian 11-08-2004 04:10 PM

OK!!! I'm gonna see this through TO THE END!!!

Here's the first part of the "Lost" (I'll admit, the title was "inspired" by my new favorite TV show) chorus:

I'm Lost on an open road
Just roaming through this night
I don't know where to go
No matter what I do
I never seem to find a home
Right now
Those city lights never seemed so cold

That's all I've got so far, someone please give me some feedback. Thanks.

Re:Recording From what I understand, Tawtami's got a bunch of our songs actually recorded, just not uploaded to the internet/uploaded to her computer from audio tape. I'm really lookin' forward to hearing those songs...Tawtami:If you can't upload them yet, could you tell us which songs you sang? Thanks.

Wow at least some good news :) Well i really not talk to Tawtami for ages so not really aware what happening with her. Well i gonna PM her and see and i really didn't look in to these lyrics adrian, once i do i will guve myopnion, but now i'm but tight at office.

Adrian 11-20-2004 07:48 PM

Still here, still got my "Lost" mindblock... :( Did you PM Tawtami? Did she respond?

Adrian

tawtami 11-21-2004 05:14 PM

hey- i am still here- hectic with uni deadlines at the moment...

can we (once again) make a definitive list of titles so far- ill indicate what ive done, what i havent done and those i have an idea for...
once deadlines are up i should be in a much better place to get rough versions onto the net- going straight from audio has proved a problem....

sorry about the radio silence recently thought guys, hope we're all doing okay!

sara

Adrian 11-21-2004 07:06 PM

Will write more later, but here's a list of songs (and the song I envision them most closely resembling):

Back Into Dry County (Dry County)
Win Or Lose (The Distance)
Back (Meat Loaf's I'd Do Anything For Love)
Heartbreak Town (already done, needs to be put together)
Hands Of Time (Bed Of Roses)
Straight Out Of Dry County (Dry County + I Believe)
Start Over Now (If I Was Your Mother)
I'd Do Anything For You (don't really know, also, feel free to chop the last four lines off the second verse, I'll get around to updating it in the database)
Wake Me Up (Love Me Back To Life)

Adrian

Adrian 11-23-2004 04:23 AM

Oh yeah, we also discussed covering Mark Collie's In Time, but discussion kinda fizzled out on that...

Adrian

Adrian 12-03-2004 12:15 AM

Tawtami, did you see the list? Also, I've got some new lines coming. Soon, I think.

Adrian

Adrian 12-08-2004 06:22 PM

I'm Lost on an open road
Just roaming through this night
I don't know where to go
No matter what I do
I never seem to find a home
Right now
Those city lights never seemed so cold
No matter where I go
I'm just wandering around
It always seems I'm Lost
Always lost...and never found

Ok. Finished the chorus. Unless anyone has any corrections to make.

Adrian

PS What would you guys think of maybe asking Vertigo if he would like to help on a song or two?

tawtami 12-09-2004 04:45 PM

im cool with getting vertigo in.. he's definately got the credentials to join us...

im offline at the moment till i change isps but then ive got time off and hopefully will be able to redo some stuff...

Adrian 12-09-2004 06:25 PM

Redo...why? If the music you've recorded conflicts in any way with the descriptions I've provided, that's ok, don't redo it. The stuff I posted was just a bunch of suggestions.

Adrian

Adrian 12-20-2004 03:52 AM

The Muse struck, and I've got a few (maybe as many as 16 lines) for Lost. Any news to report on the recording front?

Adrian

Adrian 12-20-2004 06:24 PM

The wind screams off the desert
A lonely and longing sound
No one but me to hear it
Just me and the road beneath
And the darkness all around

Sometimes you can't count on fate
Life doesn't turn out like you mean
And sometimes you can't trust a friend
No one's who they seem

That's part of it. I'll see if I can remember (and post) more later.

Adrian

tawtami 12-31-2004 04:51 AM

i meant redo as in redo into better quality... ie a friend of mine just got a 4track that i can DI into PC that oim tempted to nick to borrow :)

Adrian 01-06-2005 11:45 PM

I'd just like to hear the lower quality versions... Can you post those while you work on the others? Or just a list of the songs you've demo'd would be nice.

Adrian

Adrian 01-10-2005 04:05 PM

Seems I've forgotten where I'm going
Lost on both the road and in my life
I'm lways getting turned around
Wouldn't think that'd be possible
There's only one way to go on the edge of a knife

New verse. Comments?

Adrian

Adrian 01-17-2005 03:57 PM

Tawtami:Can you give us some updates? Even just some basic information might help revitalize this project, not to mention mp3 demos or stuff like that.

Adrian

tawtami 05-31-2005 02:22 AM

do you know how long it took to find this post!!!!!

didnt get any update for it either, even though its onl;y one of two threads im subscribed to.... (that i haven't) started.

um... well...

im moving again!
