Gelsenkirchen review

It took some time but here it is!! Mannheim and Amsterdam will follow soon

Gelsenkirchen, Gemany, may 30th 2003

After a shot night, a hole day of waiting started. The weather was good, so we could enjoy the sun a bit. The fanclubline seemed to work until the group became to big and Carola couldn’t handle it anymore. She called security and they messed it up completely. Around 3 pm Kevin came out with the wristbands and started handle them out. I managed to get mine soon and started to get in line 3 by 3 as was asked. We were escorted into the venue. When I entered the pit, Davids site was really crowdie so I went over to Richies site and ended up next to Sharri. A great spot!!

We had some drinks and went to the toilet and waited for Live to start. Around 19.30 the finally started. Cause we were with a group of Dutch people we all went crazy during Live. The setlist was the same as in Erfurt. Afterwards we asked mike is he could trow the setlist from live down so we could have them. He did and we asked the local security to handle them over and they wouldn’t ASSHOLES!
Thanx to Mr Cameraman (the one on the right side of the stage) I got one in the end.

Around 20.45 Bon Jovi entered the stage with a rocking Bounce. The crowd around me started jumping and went wild. Jon was a little pissed at a photographer and throw some water at him. Bounce was immediately followed by the well know You give love a bad name. The Arena seemed to rock all along. No talking at all just playing and Wild in the streets was the next one and the setlist went on with Living on a prayer, Everyday. Around me people kept on jumping and screaming. It was amazing.
Then a slow intro for the amazing Undivided. The song still impresses me everytime. There is so much feeling in it.
Until now no surprises and that should stay for a while the setlist was still the same with Runaway and Keep the faith, this time without the jungle sounds.
Richie got his guitar and played the intro for Wanted dead or alive. The crowed started singing the first verse and it was amazing to see Jon and Richie enjoying it. Wanted dead or alive was followed by In these arms, It’s my life and Misunderstood. The band took a break and David was the first one that was back on stage. He said down behind his keyboard and played a great solo and then the band joined him again and the played Ride side of wrong. The hole stadium was dark and everybody held up a light it was the best view I every had.
Then Jon handeled over the microphone to Richie and he played guess what….. indeed I’ll be there for you.
After a long time ooohhh oooohhhh ooohhh from the crowed the song ended and Jon announced the next song as this is for all young guns out there. Blaze of Glory was played and followed up with Hook me up. On the album I didn’t like the song, but live it rocks. I have to admit that.
The kept on going…. Born to be my baby, I’ll sleep when I’m dead and Raise your hands were next on the road.
The first encore had a small surprise…. Just older. The songs is still great to hear live and to see the reaction of Jon when he says I am not old just……
Then Someday I’ll be Saturday night was played. The band left stage and took some drinks at the bar behind the stage, just a note that that was the reason why Richie looked drunk. When the band came back on stage the played the standard encore with Captain Crash, a small change cause Twist and Shout came on and then Bad medicine and shout.
They said goodbye and the crowed kept on asking for more and more… They looked at each other and Richie and Jon got their guitars and played All about loving you. WOW this shows was amazing all though the setlist was a little standard.

It wasn't amazing it was an horrible show.

It's opinion, not fact. No one opinion is right, only for the person who says it.

And perhaps some people are spoilt for concerts. As someone who has never been to a concert, I'd love to be at anyone.

Thierry you can say so... But I love every single show I have been to. All have their special moments
