Guns N Roses - Patience

This song is f**ckin awesome. What album is it off???

Also, who is the bloke who sings in the beginning, I think its the same one who sings the beginning of Civil War. Its not Axl is it surely???, very talented bugger who ever he is

Christine 06-05-2003 04:03 PM

It's from the GNR Lies album which came out in 1988. What do you mean the guy who sings in the beginning? Axl sings the whole song. (Except for the very first part that goes '1, 2, 3, 4' - that's Duff McKagan.) :)

Christo 06-05-2003 05:09 PM

Both great songs, Civil War being my preference of the two. :)

RichieW2001 06-05-2003 05:18 PM

patience is OK.....slash does it great justice live.

What thats Axl's voice singing the really low part?? I recognise his voice when he squeels "my hands are tied...." for the chorus in civil war, but he sounds so much different when he sings the verse's in the song. Just like in patience when he sings "I'm still missing you, but I am alright to smile" or however that goes. Sounds completely different to his voice in Sweet Child O Mine and November Rain

Ermmm..no it doesn't. Just saw him last year and he sounded excellent. In fact, better than ever.

RichieW2001 06-05-2003 06:20 PM

his voice is absolutely dreadful.....i don't know what they do to him in the studio but it works.

When have you seen him live?

MSG last year, his voice was awesome. MTV was a bad night. I was skeptical myself, but I think nerves got the best of him.

He really sounded great when I saw "GNR" in NY.

Axl has a great singing voice. I know at one point, after touring so much, his voice started to go, just like Jon's did in the late 80's early 90's. He took voice lessons before going out on tour this time and it seems to have really helped him keep it "healthy" while touring.

Don't know. From what I hear, MSG was their best show of the tour. Maybe it all finally came together then.

Mousebounce 06-05-2003 06:37 PM

Actually as of 92 they were touring for two years straight. That could be the reason. :D I think when both he and Jon started out, neither knew how to sing properly. Hence the change in both of their voices today.

Good enough to skip the end of the tour I guess.

Not sure about that, I assume he didn't show up at least once after that gig pretexting he couldn't top it.
Nice attitude. The man sucks big time.

I was in Philly awaiting his arrival. That was the show after MSG. It was a lovely riot. :P

RichieW2001 06-08-2003 06:01 PM

it's an absoulute disgrace to be honest. i wonder if he's going to personally compensate all the fans who turned up?

Lucs 06-10-2003 09:03 PM

GNR Fan talking!!

First of all, it's so cool to see that Bon Jovi fans are that open!!
On GNR Forums you can easily get bashed if you talk about Bon Jovi (that sucks...).

Anyway, about Civil War, it's not Axl voice at the beginning when the guy says "What we've got here is, failure to communicate etc..."
It's taken from a movie (don't remember the name).

Patience is a great song in my opinion!!!

And I really like the new band!!! Can't wait to hear the new CD....

Nobody knows!!! The first rumours started in 99 about the new cd... there has never been anything official about it. The official site has been updated today (last time it was was in November 2002 :P).

I guess we'll have to wait some times before hearing that album... but it's done. Everything is recorded. GNR has more than 80songs recorded now. The next album will contain 18 songs. With a bonus CD with 10 songs. And then after sometimes, they will do that again. And then a third time.
So Axl has finished his job I guess, dunno why he's waiting...

Heh, I went to the official site expecting to see something interesting/ exciting after that, but what there is is a little disappointing:

Stay Tuned for news and information on Chinese Democracy coming soon

This site hadn't been updated since November 2002!!! lol More than 6months!!
That is great news for GNR fans!! lol

Did you hear about the rumour that The Offspring were going to title their new album 'Chinese Democracy- You Snooze You Lose.'?

I love the old GNR, but I don't really know what to think of them now.... :?

Supersonic 06-11-2003 11:34 AM

Aloha !

In fact, the first rumours about Chinese Democracy started in 1996...It was just that they didn't have a title yet, but Axl has started it in 1996.
