my review of ibrox..

Live were good but enough of that - bon jovi were awsome. It started with bounce (now in no order can only remember bits and bobs). We got the crowed intro version of living on a prayer through the song you couldnt actually hear jon singing because of everyone singing. We got to sing the first verse of wanted which i had so wanted to happen. We got ktf with some weirder than usually stuff in the middle bit where jon gets to ad lib something to do with big brother and trainers. We got a awsome version of undivided and a even better vesion of the distance where richi did one big ass solo. Richie got his ill be there for you spot and got some cheers for that!. Most of it was by the book there was no blaze of glory or just older and only 5 tracks off the new album. Fantsatic show with cool lazers and moving screens if you have chose not to go see them this time i pity you cause as the older fans were saying (theyd seen bj about 8 time) this was them at there best....ever.

Before I mention my own thoughts on the show, I should mention a little bonus that some of us folk at Ibrox got whilst waiting at our Turnstile (enrty point). We were at Turnstile 76/77 and as we were waiting, 2 mounted police horses came past followed by a police car and guess what a limousine with a familair face at the window. It was Jon and he even waved as he passed literally a few yards from us.

Anyway, onto the concert and what can I say that hasn't been said already in various media. The whole night was absolutely terrific and the band are in absolutely devastating form. The peformance was full of energy and emotion and the crowd seemed to feed off of this. The setlist was not what some folk have described as basic by any means. I have seen the band 4 times now and let me tell you if they keep playing KTF and Bad Medicine at that standard then I will happily see them another 4 times and more. It was a pleasure for me and I am sure a lot of others to get to hear the proper version of Runaway. I had heard the stripped down version at Wembley a couple of years back and I yearned for the original. When David hit those opening lines I just went wild.

People say Jon's voice is going. Well if it is then I must be missing something as he sang brillantly last night. The scream on KTF and the extended notes on Bad Medicine were superb. Another highlight was again during Bad Medicine where Jon moved in time with the bands stop start riff and proceeded to speed up. I can't describe it accurately but you'll know what I mean when u see it.

HIGHLIGHTS

RUNAWAY.
RAISE YOUR HANDS.
KEEP THE FAITH
UNDIVIDED
EVERYDAY (Great lighting)
SOMEDAY I'LL BE.........
THE WHOLE PRODUCTION.
GETTING TO HEAR RICHIE SING LIVE ON HIS OWN
DAVES'S SHORT PIANO SOLO

LOWLIGHTS

THE BURGERS WERE SHIT
MERCHANDISE STALLS MOBBED
NO "THESE DAYS", damn i keep missing that one
I GOT THE GIRL (decent song but not in the encore)

SOME TIT WHO FELT THE NEED TO STAND IN FRONT OF US HALF WAY THROUGH AND JUMP LIKE A LOON. YOU WERE IN THE GOLDEN CIRCLE STANDING SECTION, YOU WERE WITH WHAT I ASSUME WAS YOUR GIRLFRIEND, SHE HAD BLONDE HAIR AND STOOD SIDE ON WITH ME. THERE WERE ANOTHER 2 WITH YOU, ONE WAS A BLOKE (True BJ FAN) AND HIS GIRLFRIEND, DARK SHOULDER LENGTH HAIR. YOU WORE A BLACK SHIRT AND YOU WENT OFF DURING CAPTAIN CRASH AND RE-APPEARED HALF WAY THROUGH BAD MEDICINE THINKING YOU COULD REACIVATE YOUR ROLE AS THE BERLIN WALL, NOT A CHANCE MATE.

Sorry to go on but I hate folk who do that sort of thing. It didn't spoil my night but it pissed off the lovely young ladies beside me.

Saw this review on the bonjovi.com site this describes it good -
This was the first Bon Jovi concert I have been to (I came from N Ireland) and have to say this is one hell of an experience, absolutely mind blowing. After arriving and finding our seats (the seating arrangement was very disorganised people didn't know where they were meant to be sitting, but everyone was happy by the time Jon and the band came out). They kicked off with Bounce and the crowd was absolutely buzzing, the stage looked spectacular and the sound was fantastic. Then came the classic You Give Love A Bad Name which lifted the whole stadium, the band went through most of their classics eg Runaway, Keep The Faith, Someday I'll Be Saturday Night (which got a way better reception than I expected), In These Arms, with Bad Medicine right at the end. The boys done 6 songs of the Bounce album, Bounce: This one was a real crowd pleaser and got the gig of to a great start, great stadium song. Everyday: Way better live than I expected and again most of the crowd seemed to join in, the green laser lights were superb. Undivided: Very good song that Jon started of accoustic "One for love, one for truth, one for me, one for you, when we once were divided now we stand united, we stand as one undivided". Then the song kicked off, not as much seemed to know this one but it got a great reception at the end. The Distance: This is my favourite song along with All About Loving on the album and Richie Sambora's guitar playing is unbelievable, stunniing. Joey: A great song that had a video to it maybe its going to be their next single. David Bryans did a fantastic keyboard solo before Joey kicked in the crowd went crazy. Misunderstood: Out of the new songs got maybe the 2nd best reaction after Bounce this is an awesome song to sing along to live. Highlights - Jon let the crowd sing the whole first verse of Wanted Dead Or Alive what a reaction that song gets live, brilliant. Livin On A Prayer and Its My Life got perhaps the best reaction of the night and both songs are two of Bon Jovi's best known. I'll Be There For You by Richie Sambora was superb the starting to that song always seems to send the crowd into a frenzy. After In These Arms, Jon said 2,3,4 nanananananana.... everyone started bouncing up and down and cheering like crazy absolutely brilliant song that should have been on Crossroads. Raise Your Hands was exceptional and I hoped this one popped up and it did and way more people were into this than I thought there would have been. The main highlight of the night was no doubt after Raise Your Hands were the band were finished and the stage lights went off and they said goodnight. The fans just started clapping, banging their feet, screaming and shouting for more. No Kidding this must have went on for 5 whole minutes without stopping absolutely deafening one of the best atmosphere's I have heard in my life, everytime the crowd saw a shadow they screamed even louder. Finally Jon and the crew came out and Bon Jovi played us 4 more songs including I Got The Girl and Captain Crash And The Beauty Queen From Mars from the crush album and Bad Medicine ("Is there a doctor in the house") and then shout. All in all this concert surpassed my expectations and the atmosphere was just....damn words can't describe it, loud is an understatement. We cheered the band at the end and a I want to give special thanks again to Jon, Richie, Dave, Ticco and Hugh McDonald. The masters of rock they surely are. Please continue to make great albums in the future.
