Seating in US shows (GIANTS)
Hey wait a minute!
Are there really seats on the lawn in states even in stadium shows??? Thatīs ridiculous. You should come to europe to get a good feeling of a rock show in that case. In Europe the front row and the places near the stage are filled with fans. Now I believe itīs not the same in US considering that someone said about Chocīs pics that her "seat" was unbelievable and wondered how did she get those tcikets. So is it so that all the record company people etc get the best seats in US shows?? And whatīs the deal with seats in rockshow. If it was up to me, I wouldnīt even allow seats on the side of the stadium :P Cause it just isnt the same. First time I feel sad for you people in the states. Just wondering.... M |
Yes, unfortunately the shows in the USA are seated. I don't understand that either and I don't know the reason for this (some people say it would be for security reasons but a concert in Europe is not dangerous).
It's also true that in the USA the VIPs sit in the front. Here in Europe the VIP-area is on the stand and the fanclub are the "real"VIPs who stand in the front. I will have my first concerts in the USA in August and can tell you afterwards how it was compared to Europe. But as far as I heard from different people who were at different shows in the USA (not only BJ) the audience in America is very different to the European one. |
Unfortunately, money talks for good seats at US shows. Its sad that people who probably don't care too much for the band are able to get the best seats just because of their name. I hope to one day see a show in Europe. 8) Two things I do like about the floor seating is that I don't get claustrophobic and I won't lose my place if I have to go to the restroom. I have seen other bands where there wasn't seating and I always ended up feeling lightheaded and had to get out of the chaos for a while. And I was sick of people trying to crawl up my back. The last show I saw that was general admission/no floor seating was Pearl Jam at Soldiers Field in Chicago. I think that was in 1994 or 1995. So I don't know if other bands allow it or if extra security measures have been taken by the venues in the last 10 years. I still have a blast at Bon Jovi shows here. No one really ever sits in their seats. Even in the upper levels people are on their feet through the whole show.
So if you see a show in the US I hope you enjoy it!! 8) |
As much as you may say seats are bad, they alleviate a lot of problems. You don't see fist fights here and crying over spots like in Europe. Also, at least I go to a show showered and clean. LOL
Sleeping outside overnight doesn't really appeal to me. Along with the fact, who wants to take two days off of work to wait on line. :? |

Someone else had a good point, at least if I want to pee, I won't lose my place. :P |

I don't know about this year, but in the past the first row was reserved for competition winners, record co. execs and the like. Not many of them would know the words to the songs and looked bored most of the time!
I think they may have changed it now to allow real fans to be up front. It would certainly seem that way from the reports I read on the first leg of the US Bounce tour. Also, family/freinds/guests of the band are usually in the seats at the sides of the stage. |

I agree with Mousebounce. No matter what happens, someone has to slag off the US- our tour is crap, our setlists are crap, seating sucks, blah blah blah...whatever!!! Why don't some of you critics come on over to the USA and go to a show before you whine about seating? (Chris, I know you'll be here in August and will have the chance to experience "our" shows, looking forward to meeting you) Of course there are good points and bad points about both types of seating. Although I've never been to a show in Europe, I've seen Jovi on the SWW tour, and 2 of the shows were general admission at the time. Yeah, it was fun (I felt like a sardine), but in my opinion I prefer our system here. Just an example-To get my fan club tickets for Philly, I camped overnight at the box office the night before the ticket sale (instead of the day of the show for wristbands like Europe), and scored second row tickets, right in front of Richie.(Keep in mind FC members get the even numbered rows of a show in the front of the stage, therefore general admission ticket buyers have an opportunity to get the odd numbers in the front as well!) No waiting in queue the day of the show, I can take my seat 5 minutes before the band starts, clean and raring to go. How can I complain about that? Quote:
