Wolverhampton review by Laura & Taija

Ok - lets not have any bitching about events from ppl that weren't there....

This review was meant to relate to a Bon Jovi Experience:

Cheers from Manchester, this is just quickly to let you know how it was for us. icon_biggrin.gif (sneak preview: great!!! icon_biggrin.gif) We can't be bothered about the setlist too much now, we'll leave the criticism for Tom and Mike. icon_biggrin.gif

The five of us (us, Anu, Jana and Mike) slept outside, and the weather was much warmer than in Glasgow. Camping outside wasn't really necessary as we had early entrance for the show the next day, aswell as onstage passes, but we decided to do it anyway. We know there's a lot of bullshit about this on Backstage, everybody can believe what they want, but we and the people who matter know the truth, and that's enough for us. We know we did nothing wrong, and we have nothing to feel bad about. The same goes for Anu of course.

We were running back and forth all morning/afternoon, talking to JT people, Kev and Paul, Jovimimi, and bunch of new friends, and waiting for the box office to open. We got the tickets

We all got really good places in the centre of front row, next to Donna between Jon and David. Jovimimi's second youngest daughter came to the front row between us.

Live were great icon_biggrin.gif We had a banner saying "It's all about the music but we also appreciate your looks icon_smile.gif" for Ed, he seemed to like it, hih *cough* hih. Ed seemed more relaxed than before, he was talking a lot more, and the band gave a good performance. Most of the songs are just great, it's a pity the setlist is so short.

BJ came on stage earlier than before, at eight pm. The crowd was amazing right from the start, the sold-out Molineux ground had never seen a rock show (at least this big) before. It seems that Runaway has taken over Wild in the streets as the 3rd song for UK.

"Prayer was somehow even better than usual," Taija says. KTF was a disappointment for Laura, after the amazing version in Glasgow, this one seemed very plain.

Jon was talking a lot, saying he thought he'd been all around the Universe but it was the first time in Wolverhampton, and it seemed that they had a lot of friends there. He got huge applauds for that. The star of the night was a seven-year old boy, sitting on his dad's shoulders, holding up a banner saying "It's my 7th birthday and 1st Bon Jovi concert". Jon noticed the banner, and congratulated the boy. Then he was shown on the screen for a long time, Jon turned around and looked at the screen, and the whole crowd was applauding. It was sooo sweet icon_biggrin.gif Then he continued talking about fans who have been there for almost 20 years, and said it's not about fashion, it's about loyalty. At least the pit cheered for that.

"I liked The Distance and Misunderstood," Taija says. "Too many Bounce songs tonight, I could've done with less," says Laura. "I wanted to hear Hook me up still, " Taija continues. "Yes, me too, but not some of the other Bounce songs, " Laura argues still. Undivided was amazing however, and Jon was flirting like crazy in the beginning of the song. "Was he looking at me or you, Donna, and what were you doing?" Taija asks. Laura was concentrating on Richie ("who's Richie?" Taija says) and missed most of the spectacle. It's all about music... icon_wink.gif

Talking about that, we showed our "It's all about the music" banner to Jon, and got an amazing reaction. Nuff said.

Jana and Mike were supposed to get onstage with group two, and when we didn't see them up there we got worried. But they showed up with group three icon_biggrin.gif

Ok, moving on. During ITA, we had to leave our spots and let Jovimimi's two daughters there in the front. We headed out towards the side entrance, and got there just in time for BTBMB. We met Jana and Mike on their way down from the stage icon_biggrin.gif It was funny, jamming to the song at the side of the stage, it was a completely new experience for us. Towards the end of the song, Kenny arrived and led us behind the stage, and then up on the stage on David's side. We were the first there, so we were at the front.

David said "Hello" and smiled to us when he noticed us there. Also Jon smiled at us (a lot of times, hih). Because the first song was Sleep, we thought that Jon wasn't coming over to us because he has his guitar. But... icon_biggrin.gif During Richie's solo (possibly, at least when he wasn't singing hih) Jon started walking towards us, looking directly at us two. He came over, took Taija's hand and put his plectrum (pick for you people across the pond) in her hand. Then, he took another one and gave it to Laura in a similar way and then just went back to his microphone. We couldn't believe what had just happened, we just kept staring at him when he approached, stunned. Taija's eyes were getting bigger and bigger as he came closer. Our minds were blank. David was being really friendly (read: flirting) with us, posing for our pictures (yes, we had cameras and took a lot of pics) and having fun with us. We were motioning for him to come over, of course he couldn't leave his keyboards but was pretending to stagedive at us. David was very funny icon_biggrin.gif During Raise your hands, Jon came over to us twice more, clapping everyone's hands.

It was amazing, seeing the 34.000 people there in the crowd, clapping or raising their hands. We were waving at friends there at the front, and just taking it all in. What an experience!!!!!

For the rest of the show, namely the encore, we decided to go to the back of the pit. We didn't want to try to get back to the front, the pit was so big and crowded, and it just wasn't worth it for a few songs. Besides, it was a completely new experience for us, and we were enjoying it to the fullest. icon_biggrin.gif All the people next to us were moderately clapping their hands during IGTG and Crash, but we were just partying like crazy icon_biggrin.gif Bad Medicine and Shout got really good responses from that part of the crowd, and when Richie was introduced it felt like the stadium was gonna explode.

We were hoping for another encore, but didn't get one. But still, a very special show for us.

After the show, we met Tom and McRock, as well as were reunited with Anu, Jana, Mike, Kev and Paul. We also met Yvonne briefly. Kev and Paul headed to get some sleep, the rest of us went to a pub together with Mike's two friends icon_biggrin.gif Some of us stayed later than the others, way too late for our own good icon_wink.gif But it was great meeting everybody. icon_biggrin.gif

That's just it, Mary Beth -- I have absolutely nothing to hide! And there is nothing that "I do" that would or should make people to lose respect or friendship towards me, either. If people insist on being stupid and believing each and every piece of gossip they hear and generally believing the worst about ppl around them, that's naturally their prerogative. But if that's the case, good riddance to them -- they were obviously not worthy of any kind of friendship in the first place.

And sorry about re-posting this to the new and improved Wolverhampton review thread. I'm hoping I won't have to make another reply again...I just wanted my defence to be heard, once more.

Anu, you don't need anyone to make yourself look bad -- you do that all on your own. For someone who's got so much education, one would think you would be much smarter . . .

Fleurtje 07-08-2003 08:42 PM
