BJ and the MSO

........MSO = Melbourne Symphony Orchestra
This is just my wishful thinking....
For all the aussies that remember Classic Jack.....I reckon BJ would go off like a rocket with a full orchestra backing them.
Been reading all the fantastic reviews on here [and going greener by the minute :) ] and thinking 'how long will it be til they come back here?'. Was listening to 'Classic Jack' the other night and thought 'I'd love to see BJ here doing that'. For those who have no idea what I'm talking about, John Farnham [aussie icon] played gigs with the MSO and it was, in a word, AWESOME!! No matter how good he is live [and he is brilliant], it was quadrupled by having the orchestra with him and the band.
There'd be no need to lug a mammoth stage with them [ if they get any bigger they are going to need their own area codes] because they'd only need themselves and the MSO [or the orchestra from each city here]
I'm sure the tickets would cost a bit...but I spent $600 on 4 Springsteen tickets and flew from Adeliade to Brisbane to see the gig....I'd be more than willing to pay that or more to see BJ do something like this.
So, I got to thinking further about what they could play with an orchestra [see below]...I know, I know...it's a big set list and yeah...there's B sides and demos there...just reckon these would sound awesome fully backed...and DB would be in his element!!!...and it would be a great Live CD/DVD to have.

I wouldn't like it and it isn't anything new. Metallica and the Scorpions already made something like this so it's nothing special anymore.

I would love it. I'm not really a Metallica fan, but I've heard some of their songs done like that and it's ALMOST inspired me to buy that CD. The orchestra gives more power and fullness to the music.

deep purple started it all i think with the LSO in '69... and then doing a 30th anniversary in 99 again.

Scorps have, metallica, (kiss i think ?), YES, ELP did it in the 70s possibly as did Wakeman

it's been done before yeh, and BJ aren't an orchestral band

I'm with you Becky...I know it's not everyones cup of tea, just think it would be awesome. John Farnham is sort of pop/middle of the road who can rock with his band when they want to, and their show with the MSO was unbelievable. The orchestra was fully into it as well. Haven't heard some of the bands mentioned do it 'classical', have heard Metallica though...the power of an orchestra backing up some of those great BJ classics would be great to hear. The richness of sound that an orchestra produces, added to BJ rocking out, in the right venue...bring it on I say :D

Cheers,
S.
