Laura and Taija's Bounce Tour statistics
I was bored
NOTE! I'm only talking about setlists, not about the concerts itself. As we all know, band's mood and the audience have a great affection on the show. NOTE2! I'm only talking about the shows me and Laura went to. No. of shows: 10 No of songs played (medleys - Rockin' all over the world, Dancing in the streets and Shout, not including Sympathy for the devil - count as songs): Mannheim: 27 A-dam: 25 Bremen: 25 Ostend: 23 Zurich: 23 Munich: 30 Glasgow: 24 W-hampton: 25 Manchester: 23 London: 30 In total: 253 songs On average: 25,3 songs/show BOUNCE 10 YOU GIVE LOVE A BAD NAME 10 RUNAWAY 10 EVERYDAY 10 LIVIN' ON A PRAYER 10 UNDIVIDED 10 KEEP THE FAITH 10 WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE 10 IT'S MY LIFE 10 I'LL BE THERE FOR YOU 10 IN THESE ARMS 10 BORN TO BE MY BABY 10 I'LL SLEEP WHEN I'M DEAD 10 RAISE YOUR HANDS 10 BAD MEDICINE 10 SOMEDAY I'LL BE SATURDAY NIGHT 9 CAPTAIN CRASH & THE BEAUTY QUEEN FROM MARS 9 SHOUT 9 THE DISTANCE 8 MISUNDERSTOOD 8 JUST OLDER 8 ROCKIN' ALL OVER THE WORLD 7 WILD IN THE STREETS 6 I GOT THE GIRL 4 BLOOD ON BLOOD 4 LAY YOUR HANDS ON ME 3 DANCING IN THE STREETS 3 THESE DAYS 3 JOEY 3 HOOK ME UP 2 BED OF ROSES 2 I'D DIE FOR YOU 2 I BELIEVE 2 LOLA 2 TWIST-N-SHOUT 2 BLAZE OF GLORY 2 DIAMOND RING 1 HEROES 1 SOMETHING TO BELIEVE IN 1 ALWAYS 1 NEVER SAY GOODBYE 1 No. of different songs: 41 I think 41 different songs is quite a lot, but if you think it the other way round; we heard 15 songs in all the shows and 3 in all but one! That doesn't leave much space for setlist variation if they play 23 songs  BUT. If you only look at the UK shows, 21 songs were played in all the shows!!!!!!!!!! Everyone saw that the shows were similar but I didn't even realise that they were that similar. But that says something that I began to know what to expect, I'd say 80 % of the time I knew what song was going to be next. And believe me, that's not a funny feeling in a rock show. In the UK, we heard 31 songs in total (but we have to thank London show for that). In mainland Europe, 16 songs were played in all the shows and we heard 39 different songs in total. 16 regulars is still quite many but the other songs in the setlist varied a lot. So, everyone can make their own conclusions  Taija |

Thanks for the statistics. :D |
Seems like you were bored hehe ... Well, it's very nice to see it all together. I never thought about it all that much but that's probably cause I only went to 1 show and I was happy with the setlist we got ... I do was interested in all the other setlists and of course sometimes very jealous ;);)
Thanx for posting this ... Cool to know :) |

Shame I didn't realise this before the Bounce Tour already. Then again, I don't think it used to be so clearly that way on the previous two tours... |
UK shows have only gone bad since Crush was released!!! ie since the band made cheap lowest common denominator pop albums to fit the British singles chart... and pop-buying culture
95: wembley 3 nights, van halen, think they even jammed at sheffield, cardiff got good guys don't always wear white etc - long shows 96: MK x 2, Maine Road, Ibrox - long shows pushing 3 hours, lots of songs, great setlists and performances - not that i liked them myself but a few support acts also, one of whom was considered "ok" at the time 93: only a few shows and basic admittedly but somewhere like Birmingham NEC 2 nights: Fields of Fire and i think "i shall be released" or "bring it on home" - something like that 1988: all-star jam, homebound trains, lots of jams from Back In USSR in Glasgow to Travellin' Band with EJ and Brian May and Lita Ford and Rick Allen 1989: think they did a few arena shows: wembley, birmingham again (not certain though) 1990-1991 - all the charity gigs at Hammersmith - all sorts of special surprises even 2002: we got shepherd's bush and wembley when the rest of Europe was skipped I'll always take the gamble on a UK tour - even though last 3 have been quite poor, with maybe 1 highlight show. European gigs themselves are not always great... but admittedly better ill try to do some european dates next time, but if you're someone who is really trying to do a few BJ dates in one tour you may as well do the UK also since you are at least guaranteed 4 or 5 shows all within about 3 hours train journey away from each other (even with UK trains - which by the way are late on average 1 in 5 times - you were both just very LUCKY and since all the trains i took were late or delayed i refuse to eat my hat, no matter how good the garnish). |
sorry for my Rock Historian mini-essay :)

Ok, my first conclusion is that you are quite bored to do these stats.
Second one is that you are very lucky to get the opportunity to do such a long and extensive tour, though you deserved all that you got because you worked very hard for it. Well done. :D  |
