Would Bon Jovi get more respect if they weren't goodlooking?

Ok, needless to say, there are some fans who only by Bon Jovi records, and go to concerts to see pretty boy Jon, and are more interested in how tight his jeans are rather than what songs he is actually singing.

I think this has given Bon Jovi, the same kind of perception to those "not in the know" that Bon Jovi are some "80's glamrock big hair boy band".

If Jon looked like, lets say for example Meatloaf, do you think his number of records sales and respect with the critics be different?

you know i think there are some singers who were not really sexy or attractive and because their music or the lyrics touched the people they became some "wanted men" i think it's the same for women.
Look at Michael Jackson, his fans find him attractive and in France we have a very good exemple, he's called Eddy Mitchel, he's a great singer - started in the 60's - a beautiful voice and he was dressed and all a la Elvis, we call him Mister Eddy :) All the women were mad when he was somewhere a real hysteria and believe me he's far from the good looking guy in general

so i guess, is the talent is here, i think the success will be the same.
I don't think Richie is a good looking man you know (sorry girls, just my opinion  ), and i LOVE his music and his voice ..... on the other hand, i can't name even ONE band, singer or actor i like for his physical, honestly i can't listen to music or watch a film and pretend i like it if i don't find the artist talented.

That is a lot of money just to see that. Why not go to a male strip club? It is much cheaper. :D

I think the music draws people in too. Because, like I said, nobody is going to pay all of that just to see some guy, who is nice looking but not a God, dance around in tight jeans. :?

hey lets be honest hear i probably wouldn;t by bon jovi records if he looked like meatloaf 8)

i don't think its that fact that they're all good looking guys, more the fact that they're stuck with the imagine of poodle perms being swung about over a crowd ontop of a winch and all that other cheesy 80's stuff and alot of people can't see that.

MJess, richie's the best looking one out of the lot of them and this is coming from a guy here

I agree, it is hard for people to get past that.

About Richie being better looking than Jon..eeekk..not anymore. I don't think Richie is ageing well. He is looking bloated or something lately.

yeah, I reckon if the lads werent good looking, about 50% of the crowd at a show wouldnt be there

they spend years convincing themselves they like the music..only after seeing their faces

WHO buys CDs because they think the guys in the band are good looking?

Personally, I wouldn't invest $15 +/- in a CD because some guy looks good. What do you do with it? Put the CD cover on your wall? LOL Wouldn't it be cheaper to buy a magazine and get a pinup?

Do you really think that LOOKS can make a person stick with an act year after year, through extended breaks, and pay nearly $100 each for tickets to a concert?

I think the level of shallowness among fans is greatly overexaggerated. Bon Jovi's music appeals to the masses--it always has. They sing about things that just about anyone can understand and see in themselves. Their looks are just a bonus.

Maybe there are some shallow girls with more money than common sense, but I doubt they're the ones who return year after year, album after album.

As far as critics go, yeah, the guys probably would get more respect if Jon looked like Meatloaf and Richie looked like Lemmy. But that just goes to show how shallow CRITICS are. Those who can do, those who can't critique.

They were in the 80's at the height of Bon Jovi Mania when a lot of us jumped on board. ;)
