Voting for a song in the encore is pointless

So Shout won? Yeah I can really imagine a big swing from T.D. to Shout in a couple of days! The songs chosen are a joke anyway. All the songs are regulars in the set list anyway (apart from T.D.) so its not like its a big incentive to vote! Take the first vote- These Days won and they played C.C. and Medicine/Shout anyway so whats the point! If they were gonna do it properly they would pick 5 songs that are rarely played live where it would be geniunely exciting to hear which one won and maybe hear a song for the first time! Say:
-Living in Sin
-Wild is the Wind
-Dry County (though i've given up on them EVER playing that again, I last saw it at Wembley in 95)
-This ain't a love song
-Damned

There are loads of songs in the back catalogue that have been played live in the past that could be played again. People might say they might not know any of those 5 songs above but are they gonna know Captain Crash, I got the Girl or Just Older?! Probably not! Anyway unless you have (and know well) most or all of a bands albums then you accept that when you see them live you won't know a couple of their songs. I saw Aerosmith in 97 and at the time I didnt know stuff like 'Dream On' or 'Toys in the Attic'.

I have no problems with them playing Prayer, Bad Name, DOA or Faith cos they're songs that the band are know for- Jon has said he can't drop songs like that for that reason (which makes the omittance of Always from nearly every set list even more baffling!) its just stuff like the 3 Crush songs above I have the problem with.

I know I've got slightly off the point and I'm starting to moan about setlists but it frustrates me that you have all these songs that they don't play. Slippery and Jersey both have sold twice what Crush so people are more likely to know songs off them than Crush!

For the record I've seen Aerosmith, Guns n roses, Bryan Adams, Def Leppard, Meat Loaf and more and Bon Jovi are still better than all of them live, its just that they can be so much better. I was at the concert which is now the 'Live in London' video and it was awesome. They just seem to wanna play the same 25 songs now though, as the encore 'vote' has proved. Maybe its an age thing, they don't wanna have to keep rehearsing old songs. i don't know....

i agree with the TOPIC Name....this is pointless. Im still bitter from the show last night as i expected to hear these days. what a joke.

Get a life. You're this upset over a poll? That was free? That cost you nothing but time that you chose to devote?
This band should quit already... no matter what they do, there's a whole contingency of fans who will find fault with it.
You can't sing along to It's My Life until you find one of your own.
If you don't want to participate in a poll, don't.
If you dont' want to watch a webcast, don't.
If you want to complain about all things Bon Jovi, well, you've found the site.
Ingrate.

mr self-righteous is well and truly back.

You call it self-righteous.
I consider it calling it like it is.
Face it. The band donates money to charity. They're criticized for giving away money you gave them buy buying their cd or concert ticket and they're criticized for not donating enough money/time to the charity.
They give you a free stream of an encore and you complain.
They put up a poll and you complain.
How 'bout this? how bout the band shows up at your house, sits at your goddmaned kitchen table and performs exactly what songs you deem appropriate at your very command? Would THAT make you happy? No, you'll come to this site and complain that they didn't wash their own dishes and asked for seconds on the gravy.
Face it - if you didn't have something to complain about, you'd have nothing to discuss about the band!

take a look at the people setting these threads up. they aren't the people who post the same thing everyday, nor do they agree with all the negative posts. the people you are referring to haven't yet posted on this thread so save your bashing for PMs

Theres a lot of good things to be said about the band. I still said good things about them in the original post. Whats the point of a message board if you can't have a complaint?

And i didnt vote in the second poll cos i thought that CC and Medicine would be played anyway. And i was right. Like i said though theyre still the best around, but just capable of so much more.

Derek Bliss 07-19-2003 01:32 AM

Ooh... call the cops.
Give it time. The usual suspects will be back with the usual spewing of everything wrong the band did. I can post whatever I want. You can read whatever you want. Still, you can't deny that what I posted had some merit - all you could do was insult me.
Figure.
