In Defense of "Captain Crash..."

Just my opinion.

This song is dynamite. Ok, maybe it's not the Bon Jovi from the early albums, but by god if it isn't a helluva lot of fun. How can someone sing this song and not be smiling. It's just goofy and fun.

The band has come a long way from the early days. They fought very hard for their survival and it's songs like this that they've earned. By no way is it meant to be serious. It's meant to cheer the crowd up and smile.

I love that this song is an encore now. Yes, at first, I was somewhat confused, but after being at the Minneapolis show, I've come full circle. The whole crowd was singing along; especially for the "do do do, do do do" part. Just great.

It's also somewhat of a "guy falling for a girl" song which I'm always a sucker for. The girl I was with totally melted when I explained the meaning behind the song (in my opinion) and how I like singing it to / with her. "Captain Crash is just this regular, wierd guy and he's with this girl, The Beauty Queen, who's just out of his league, but they are in love."

Just terribly clever lyrics and I hope the song is hear to stay.

I've mentioned this before, but I'm at work, enjoying a beer and loving life.

This board terrific and it's members are great.

Bon Jovi Forever.

Good Night.

The lyrics mean nothing to me. It kinda like something you'd see in a Disney movie, but I agree that the song does sound great and rocks stadiums. It was great to hear it at Manchester.

It is quite good live, I dont think many people deny that. It just doesn't deserve to be in the setlist every night!

I personally feel embarased when they play it.... I dunno, I still like to think of Bon Jovi as being a rock band, and that kind of song disproves me... People seem to like it live though...

I'm the one on the video screans amongst all those who are swaying and singing, who stands arms folded, perfectly still, and shaking my head/. :D

That's great! It is a guilty pleasure, but that's ok.

no, more sickening which has ruined (although I shouldn't have let it) Bad Medicine for me at both concerts....

Having siad that, if Crash didn't stick the knife in then Shout would have done

Captain Crash sucks!

lm_roswell 07-19-2003 02:36 AM

I love Captain Crash, but I've played it so often that I'm sick of it. It sounded awesome live :)

I really actually like the song. I don't think of it as the greatest song ever or anything, but I find it amusing, expecially live. It's just a fun song to listen to. I can understand it being a bit "embarrasing", but what the hell do I care what someone else thinks about a song? I have better things in life to worry about. :P
