the meaning of the matrix reloaded?

k my girlfriends pal went to see it and said there was a big meaning at the end of it but she had to see it twice to really understand it and all.

i went to see it at the pictures a few weeks ago and ive got it on dvd so ive been able to watch it again and i think that the thing she was talking about is that neo is God or something close to it ie he's to start the next generation of the matrix.

is that the idea or am i way off the mark, i had been to the pub before i went to see it in the pictures.

Yeah, The One pretty much plays God in the Matrix, deciding who gets to be saved when its rebooted

Aloha !

There are lots of things in The Matrix which point to the bible and all it's things. For example :

Thomas was the disciple from Jesus who didn't believe things Jesus said untill Jesus proved it.

Anderson means : The one.

Neo is the one, Jesus was the one, and so on, there are more things, but I can't remember them.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

Neo = One (same letters)

I assume you mean the scene where Neo is talking with the Architect?
(this may go on for a while)

Well, the Architect basically created the Matrix as a perfect world, but not everyone accepted it, and many people died. The Matrix was re-designed to match the previous human world (ie our lifestyle now). Neo of course new this much already, as Agent Smith told it to Morpheus in Part I.

What he finds out in Part II is that that the One was occurs due to an anomoly; he is the 0.1% that doesn't accept the programming (won't believe it).

The Matrix is up to its sixth version, and Neo discovers that the war between Zion and the machines occurs at the end of every Matrix cycle. After Zion has been destroyed, the One returns to the source of the Matrix, and then choose another few dozen people to free from the Matrix and re-populate Zion; so the cycle can start anew. The "Prophecy" was created so that the resistance would believe they could stop the Matrix.

The anomoly the Architect speaks of is choice; in the Matrix all choice is taken away from anyone who is plugged in, except for the One. This is why Neo can manipulate the Matrix (stop bullets, fly etc).

The Architect gives Neo the choice to return to the source, or try to save Trinity from the horrible fate she suffered in his dreams. He chooses to save her, and despite the Architect saying it was not possible, he does it; he brings her back to life.

The difference with Neo and all of the previos chosen ones is that he has a link to the Matrix through Smith. This is apparent from the end of the movie when Neo can sense the sentinels coming; from the real world. He also manages to stop them (albeit nearly killing himself).

Smith is also outside the Matrix now, and he used the EMP on a ship to disable many others, so that the sentinels could hurry through to find Zion.

That is where Reloaded ends, and we will have to wait until November to see the conclusion of the story.

I'm thinking that Neo will sacrifice himself to save Zion; possibly going into the source of the Matrix and destroying it once and for all.

I find my computing A-level made it make much more sense :)

here is an example, Neo is a recurring bug in a cycle (program)

I had enough sodding recurring bugs in my final progect

so wot ur saying is i was kinda there but not really :)

the whole idea of the matrix is REALLY similar to Descartes meditations all the way down to the possibility that some genius (the machines) could be decieving us in to thinking that this is reality when in fact it's not.

so if neo has to repopulate zion does that mean matrix revolutions is just going to be a big shag fest with him, trinity and morpheus' ex? :D
