Sorry it's come to this

How on earth can a country like Britain have a train service that is no more reliable than it was about 50 years ago!

i really hate Virgin trains... if you have a complaint there is no alternative if you want to go to any big town or city, and if they issue you with a fine they effective employ another agency to do their dirty work for them so they can remain aloof from disputes

death to virgin trains anwyay - high-speed trains that in fact only go at 60-70 mph because we don't have the right tracks

it takes 3 hours between manchester and oxford on train and costs £33 with a student railcard unless you're lucky enough to get a cheap fare, and yet it takes 2 hours 20 in car that is fully loaded

i wouldn't put it past him - he likes to put his foot in every door there is

1 in 5 on average are late

the one time i got an early train was for the wolverhampton concert and it wouldn't let me off the coach for 10 minutes because of this... half the time you stop dead in the middle of nowhere so a clapped-out regional train that holds about 10 people can get past

It's very expensive yes.

Other than that, you know how I feel, so I won't go into that. I don't want to ruin your complaining (not the right word but I don't know what is).

I know you have a thing about Virgin, have never really used them so I can't say!! But I think all trains in the UK are really expensive. I recently played 15 pounds for a single ticket from Walton on Thames to Stanstead airport!! I couldn't believe it. I think prices of tickets are ridiculous..

I'll let you go on about Virgin now.

and unfortunately Tash most of us would regard that as quite a good price :( - that says something really doesn't it

:) i've just realised now that there was a point to that after all!

don't get me wrong now that i've actually got to travel around England a little i'm starting to like it myself a lot, but my gripe is with Virgin trains specifically...

it's just a private company interested in making money

my railcard was about 2 weeks out of date and i didn't know so they billed me £55 for a journey between oxford and manchester (about 180 miles - off peak, during week, during early afternoon)

(i complained and told them i wasn't paying though)
