200 Greatest Pop Culture Icons

Hey everybody!

VH 1 is running a special on the 200 greatest pop icons. Bon Jovi is only 153 :? If you go to VH1.com there's all kinds of stuff related to the show, like "What icon are you?" and drawings of all the icons on the list. Check it out!

Who the hell is THAT supposed to be? The bastard child of Mick Jagger, Farrah Fawcett? Ewww.

I don't mind if they are at #153 in anything 'POP'. I only care about 'Rock'.

OK, the whole ROCK / POP thing is getting stupid already.
POP ICONS means POP CULTURE which is short for POPULAR CULTURE.
It has nothing to do with a genre of music.
Monica Lewinsky, Fred Flintstone and Beavis & Butthead are also on the list - want to argue where they fall into the musical spectrum?

normally i'd agree - and i've said the same in the past, but these days "pop" has become a word in itself devoid of "popular" and ironically most of the successful pop is not especially popular

culture has changed and the meaning of that word has changed with it

and who doesn't think of spears, aguilera etc these days when they hear the word "pop" rather than monica lewsinsky, bon jovi (yes they are a rock band still) and.... yada yada yada
