What the hell! Here's my report!!!!
Wrote this about 1.30pm this afternoon!
Well, here I am,back from Wembley and still feel totally worn out, regardless of getting in just after midnight! My friend came over at 3.15pm yesterday to pick me up (in his red mercedes - how about that for going in style!!!!),cause he'd heard there was traffic problems on the M25 motorway, and he thought we'd hit the road straight away, incase of the traffic probs we'd hit on the way up to Wembley. Was a few traffic probs, but not that bad, thankfully. So,we ended up at wembley at 5.20pm.But it wasn't until I got there that I realised that I'd left my mobile at home and I was meant to text a friend when I got there to let her know where I was.Think it must have been in the rush and excitement before leaving home that made me forget my mobile! We had half hour to wait before doors opening, but it was slightly after 6pm when we got through the doors.First thing we did was get a drink (me strictly on bottled water of course!),which my friend bought, then went to find out seats, which were pretty good and were based in block 29,which is about in the middle of the arena and gave a good view of the stage, and watched the arena fill up.There was also a "mini stage" in between blocks B and C and by the PA system. There was also 7 screens up aswell - two either side of the main stage and one larger one above the stage, plus 4 above the mini stage. Just after 7pm,the first band came onstage,Toploader (which I was surprised at,having them on first!),who did 4 songs, one was their current single and another was their next single, and also did Dancing in the moonlight and one other from their album. They left the stage and Chris Tarrant came onto the mini stage and he was great, funny at times. He'd also had two of his DJ buddies with him too - one of which was just wearing jeans and t.shirt and Chris Tarrant called him a scruufy git,and got told that Chris and the other one did not tell him they were going to be wearing suits to the show! Every time Chris Tarrant mentioned THOSE TWO WORDS BON JOVI,Wembley went totally INSANE!!!!!! He played a little game with some of the crowd, who had birthdays in September and asked them 3 questions, and that took a while for one of the people to get all 3 questions right! A guy got the questions right and he won £1,000 there and then! Chris also told us that Bon Jovi was giving all the money from their side of the sales to the charity and was doing it for free - that made everyone go mad and I felt so proud of the boys for it and made me feel proud to be a Jovi fan! We also had a message from Phil Collins, who had been asked to perform last night, couldn't due to some reason or another and was stuck in LA and we got a video of one of Phil's songs shown on the screens. Chris, then said it was time for band 2 to come on and do their bit.It was Paul Carrack,Mike Rutherford and the all star band. They went down well with the crowd, can't remember what they did now! After they'd finished their slot,it was back to the mini stage and back to Chris Tarrant for a bit.He was still full of life and having fun with the crowd and his two buddies. After he was done,it was approaching 8.20pm and time for the Appletons to come on.But,when they came onstage, the crowd did not give them much of a welcome and that seemed unfair on them (felt sorrry for them). There was a guy behind me,who shouted out some verbal abuse to them, something along the lines of "Your husband is a wanker",which I thought was so uncalled for. They only did two songs and didn't really interact with the crowd and got a polite applause from part of the crowd when they left the stage. Chris came back and said we would take a 20 minute break, before the moment everyone was waiting for and again, the crowd went nuts, knowing it was almost JOVI TIME! Those last 20 minutes seemed to take forever to pass and suddenly,it was just a few minutes away. Then the lights went down and everyone thought it was the boys and went nuts. But it was Chris on the main stage and was holding a bag, that contained every person's ticket stub.He called on an unexpected guest to join him onstage and it was England goal keeper David Seaman and he got a great welcome. While they were onstage, all but Jon had come on and were behind Chris and David.Chris told us his reason for having all the ticket stubs and what he wanted David to do - pull out one stub and put it in an envelope, seal it and hold onto it till Monday, when Chris would call him about 8.15am to find out which ticket stub he had and whoever's ticket stub it was would win a fantastic prize. Anyway,he then went on to say that it was time for who we were all waiting for and called THEM the greatest rock band in the world and how they'd sold over 95 million albums. It was now 9.15pm! There was still no sign of Jon onstage when the intro began for Prayer and everyone was focusing on the main stage - but NO JON! Then we heard him and found he was on THE MINI STAGE,which had barricades put round it and security there aswell.Fans down the front had ran up to the mini stage to get as close to Jon as possible and to at least get to touch Jon.Security were great, holding the fans back and then guided Jon down to main stage, which took a while, cause Jon and security were so close to the fans (there was no fans pushing and grabbing anyone else or attempting to grab Jon as he walked down to the main stage.Although they were all overly excited about having Jon walk pass them like that, they acted responsible for their actions and not like a bunch of sex crazed teenagers - not like how some of the fans acted at recently in America, who had almost pulled Jon off the stage. When Prayer was finished, they went into Bad Name.Despite only arriving in the country that morning, they were on form. But you could see it in Jon's eyes that he was totally worn out. After all they had played in Times Square just 48 hours ealier and then had to fly over here Friday night to do Wembley. They followed up with It's My Life and afterward,Jon said that we'd have to excuse them, cause they had a new album due out very soon and they were very excited about it and they wanted to share some of the new stuff with us.Jon went on to say that the first song they were going to do from the new album was their own tribute to last year's disaster in New York, and was called Undivided. He told all the bootleggers to now get their tape recorders out,as this was their chance to get the new stuff on tape live! It started off to what made me think it was a ballad, but NO,it wasn't anything like that AT ALL.It was totally fantastic and it would be a huge hit if they release it.Oh man! that song is awesome live and totally rocks - you guys are in for a helluva treat when you hear it live, let alone on cd! They went on to do Everyday and that to live is brilliant - another treat for you to hear live. After Everyday, they did one more newbie from Bounce and Jon said it was their title track BOUNCE - another one that rocks and another treat for ya to hear live! After that Jon said he was pleased to see that we all liked the new stuff and went on to say how it was two years ago that they last played "next door" at the staduim and even threatend to bring in some chairs for us,cause he WAS going to play there regardless, which sent up a huge cheer from the crowd (Can just imagine Jon actually doing just that - filling the stadium with seats for next summer for us!!!!!) Then,it was back to the older stuff. They did Bad Medicine,Wanted,Keep The Faith and Shout, which brought their set to an end.Jon said his goodbyes and the band took their bow and Jon said that they'll be back SOON - which meant by this coming weekend,as they'll be on CD:UK again and back for Sept 18th and the Shepherd's Bush gig. But,everyone did want more from the guys. But Chris Tarrant came to tell us that it was no good calling them back,as they had now left the building and was in the car and gone.He said he knew they were the greatest rock band on the earth, but that was totally amazing and he'd forgotten just how good they were! He also thanked the crowd for coming and said we had been the best crowd in the world. It was all over by 10.20 and time to make our way out and back to the car and hit the road to get home. At one point,we got slightly lost and ended up going via Heathrow airport to get back to the M25 and then we were back on track and was hitting just under 100 miles per hour and we were back here at 12.05am.Had something to eat and a hot drink and my friend took a rest before he had to drive to his.All in all,it was a fantastic night and I pity all those who were near me,cause I must have deafened them with my screaming! So,there you have it,my report from last night. |
