Sightseeing in/around E. Rutherford - Need help/suggestions
Hey fellow Jovi-ites!
My buddy and I are making the trek from Cleveland to E. Rutherford in August for one of the Giants Stadium concerts (2nd row!!). We thought we'd make it a full-on Jovi themed trip and check out some of the cool stuff around town and we're looking for some help! Preferrably from a local! We thought it would be cool to see where the guys live or where they grew up. We'd like to see the pizza parlor that had everything to do w/bringing us songs like "Never Say Goodbye"! Maybe if someone knows where the band is likely to hang out near their home town!? Where the best pre-concert and post-concert party is, anything to help make this the ultimate Jovi concert road-trip!! I know some of you great Dry County Jovi fans can help...please post! |
I can post some BJ-related sightseeing points this afternoon when I'm back home. There were some stuff published with adresses in a special newspaper two years back with some adresses of bars where they used to hang around and play, the adress of the Roadside Diner (Crossroad booklet photo) and some other stuff.
We plan to visit New Jersey, too, in August and want to make some sightseeing, like the Stone Pony and Fast Lane, The town where Richie grew up, Roadside Diner and stuff like this. |
Christine that would be very helpful, im off to GS this summer as well and hope to do the same kinda things, so any info would be most welcome.

Virtual trip to NJ!
Hello! I'm not a local but you can download the movie of my trip to NJ.
http://www.bonarticles.net/english/v..._school01.html I went to Sayreville War Memorial High School, Asbury Park, Stone Pony, Jersey Shore...etc. I wanted to go to Pizza Parlor but didn't know where it was. Can someone tell me? I'm going to the Giants too this summer and hope to go to Red Bank...don't worry, not Jon's place. :D |
thanks for the virtual tour!

Here we go. Everything taken from the newspaper "Jersey Alive" that was published in honor of the Giants-Shows 2001:
1. Jon's childhood home: 16 Robin Hood Drive, Sayreville 2. Broadway Central Café, 114 S. Broadway, South Amboy: Band member used to hang around here. There are BJ-artifacts at several places incl. a platinum album of SWW and a life-sized autographed poster in the women's room (sorry if you are male you can't see this LOL) 3. Hunka Bunka Ballroom, Jernee Mill Road, Sayreville It was known earlier as the Jernee Mill Inn. Alec used to work there and Jon played there. 4. Fast Lane, 207 Fourth Ave. Asbury Park and Stone Pony, Ocean Ave., Asbury Park Jon and his early bands frequently played in these clubs. 5. Roadside Diner, Route 34, Wall: Cover of Crossroad and Saturday night-single were shot here. 6. Seaside Heights Broadwalk: Favorite hangout of the band, videos like In and out of Love were shot here. 7. Surf and Turf Ale House, 415 Route 18 S., East Brunswick Located in the village Green East Shopping Center. This is the site of the former Charly's Uncle nightclub where a young Richie used to play in bands like Shark Franzy. These are the things from this newspaper. Jon's fav Pizzeria is "Umberto" in Fair Haven, 583 River Road. There is a photo of Jon on the wall. I heard he usually eats Pizza Anchovies medium size. |
Hey guys, thanks!
That's exactly what I was looking for! I'll d/l the video when I get home. Yep! Got the convertible Stang and the entire cd collection ready to go! We had front/center for Cleveland and now have to 'settle' for second row in Jersey. But...it IS Giants Stadium after all!! Thanks for the info, see you guys on the 7th!! Two weeks baby!! -Guns |
