eek, I hadnt thought of this before

taken from a site I visit (Jana does too ;] )

As I posted earlier, the US military is trying to kill Saddam (and his sons) They aren't trying to capture them. Why? Because they don't want them standing trial. There is a whole scope for massive embarassment for the US since it was America who supplied Saddam with large quantities of weapons in the first place.

Don't you think it's a bit over kill tht they sent in 200 troops + helicopter gunships to take Saddams sons who were 2 of only three people in the house? Plus the fact that both was shot more than twenty times head, including multiple head shots.

What happend to their right to be tried in a court of law?

choclady 07-27-2003 08:13 PM

apparently they have no rights - US soldiers can just kill anyone they like

lets not go down that route sucka!

I want mature discussion of if people believe they were given no chance to surrender and thus go on trial

In all seriousness - I wouldn't expect themselves to give themselves up....

That said, if they were put on trial they'd probably find some loophole & get away (quite literally) with murder.....

choclady 07-27-2003 08:36 PM

i think its a really difficult situation.
the soldiers themselves put their lives at risk when trying to track them down, so maybe part of it was self defense. But having said that - 20 shots can not be considered self defense anymore. if there had been another opportunity i think they should have been given the chance to surrender.

+ 200 men and two attack choppers, bit over the top for 3 men - one of which was an informant

Sanny 07-27-2003 09:10 PM

yeh, but lets not forget the terrible crimes that these men commited...murder, rape, torture etc. They didn't care who they killed. If they had gone to trial they probably would have found a way out of it.

Mike 07-27-2003 09:20 PM

3 men??

One of Saddams sons 14 year old son was killed in this encounter. I'm not convinced they'd have shot him if he didn't have a gun in his hand. More than 3 I imagine, & when they have a chance of catching 2 ppl as high profile as this, u don't really wanna give them a chance to make it fair....

choclady 07-27-2003 09:25 PM

but mike - 20 shots?
