that's what the tour de france is about... maing commercial for the country- as a racer if you don't get among the top ten then your gage is merely a joke (2.300€ for peter luttenberger for place 12. or 13.- you gotta consider years of preparation and inhuman racing conditions- their accomodations are sometimes noting but a bad bad joke)

but as for the country france is extremely beautiful indeed- i loved the dune de pyla - the biggest sand dune in europe- it was great there!!!

thank you, i'm sure for some people France is a really beautiful country but living here, i can't say it's my favourite - i'd say Ireland but my dream country is Australia

if i had to pick any i would honestly say the highlands of scotland. u won;t find much more breathtaking scenery than that.

shit i just remember i've been roped into doing the west highland way with my girlfriend n her mum n dad n some friends next year.

it's basically a looong walk from fort william all the way down to glasgow and takes between a week to 10 days to complete. all lovely scenery and stuff but i can see nice hills without having to walk halfway across scotland u know.

emotional blackmail is a terrible thing

luckilly her dad's back isnt too good and he's just going to drive a camper van with all the gear in it to the next stop so she says i can go along with him a couple of days and sit in the pub whilst we wait for them.

absolutely! and/or the Lake district/Northumbria. I'd love to go to Skara Braie (sp?)... but for me every country has its beautiful parts. The lakes and Italian Alps, the countryside of France/Provence, the vastness itself of Russia I imagine to be very beautiful to the eye, Maine USA/Canada...

I love anywhere where i could just walk or travel for many miles wihout meeting another human being, but also where i can reach a city within 1 hours drive. Fortunately that describes virtually anywhere in Britain.

If I can have a mix of tranquility, beautiful scenery, small villages, lakes and hills then I'm a content man.

I've said for many years now that if ever i have enough money i'd like to live in the Lake District (since i could commute) or somewhere like Switzerland: Zurich, Geneva, Stresa (please say this isn't Italy :) - 99.9% certain it's switzerland but always confuse it with that pact of 1935 which i think had something to do with Italian occupation of Ethiopia.. even though i went there in 1995 - listening to TD continuously)
