Regarding Giants Stadium Halftime
Hey all,
I was at the Giants/Niners game when Bon Jovi performed at halftime. To my horror, yes, there were a lot of boos but I am almost positive they were because YOU COULD BARELY, AND I MEAN BARELY, HEAR THE BAND. I was not even 4 sections away from the band, on the same side as them, lower tier, and you could barely hear them being announced and you could barely hear the band. It's totally not the band's fault, from what I understand this was the first halftime concert ever at giants stadium, and i think they needed to figure some more sound stuff out. The mikes must've been way turned down, or they speakers not working, because I was close, and if I hadnt known better, I never would have known what song they were playing. I went to the game for the sole purpose of seeing bon jovi (i actually was able to get a ticket) and I truly was disappointed in it, I couldn't hear them! You could hear the Richie's guitar the best, but vocals and everything else were barely audible. That's why there were boos and silence when Bon Jovi was announced...unless you could see them, you'd never know they were out there. I heard the times square concert on the radio, and they sounded great. But the halftime show, you could not hear. I truly feel bad for the band because I know what a horrible reception they got. I screamed as loud as I could to try to show my support and couteract the boos. Bon Jovi, it wasn't your fault, you were booed because no one could hear you or you being announced. Please fans, don't think the state of New Jersey hates Bon Jovi. I'm a Jerseyan, I love our boys, and yes, Giants fans are stupid creatures, but i blame the stadium or stage crew because all anyone could talk about after their performance was how they couldn't hear it and didn't even know what song they had played. I hope this clears things up for all the wondering fans. You simply couldn't hear the band. I went to their One Wild Night concert last year at Giants Stadium and it sounded great, loud and amazing like a bon jovi concert. I guess the halftime rush to setup caused this problem. I'm so sorry to Bon Jovi, you guys never deserved to get booed. But hey, you looked great! ticofan8 |
Well, I don't know how it sounded at the stadium or on the TV, but I have managed to get a MP3 of the halftime performance, I dont know if it was recorded from TV or live at the stadium, but the sound is really disapointing.
It seems like the music was pre-recorded and actually it's only Jon and Richie singing live, like in a karaoke. Jon's voice sound very low, very far, but Richie's voice sound very near and very high, ant he just sings totally out of key. I think that this could be one of the worst live performances I 've ever heard from the guys. I'm sure they had sound problems and that they couldn't heard themselves, cause Richie dont sing, he just screams |
Hi Tico fan,
Thanks for explaining about the sound problem within the stadium as it seemed fine on tv, my tape was from ESPN and could hear the guys clearly. I wouldnt say it was the best performance ever, but it was the first time Ive seen/heard Everyday performed live and I liked it. They seemed to be really enjoying themselves also. Could you not hear the commentator when he introduce Jovi either? as the response to that was poor to from fans. Even one of the commentators at half time was borderline rude, by saying any Jovi fans in here tonight, lol, everyone just started laughing. I suppose I was more shocked as when the 9ers were making important plays Gaint stadium is known to be the noisiest Stadium to attempt to put the players off ,erupted in heckles extra, nothing new, but the noise was the same as what they did to Jovi response. I can understand why now I guess. I hope someone told Jovi why they got a response like that from the crowd as you couldnt tell on the tv it was due to lack of hearing them. It must have really spoilt the guys first ever half time performance there, they had spoken about how they were really looking forward to it . What a shame ,never mind, its all show business!!!!! I think things like this aren't done too often. & hence it was always a bit of a gamble, & they don't always come off.
I remember a half-time performance at my local football (soccer) team from a young & 'upcoming' Nottingham based girl band. (Spice girls wannabes). I think the accoustics were slightly better (although it was just a CD) that they were miming too. A few polite applause was what they got. Take into account however that the majority of ppl there r there for the sport & probably more worried @ halftime about their beer / pies / getting to the toilet / talking about the first half. I also saw 'Bob the builder' at an away game. I think we were all throwing stuff at it!! Mike |
Whoa
People actually BOOED them during their halftime performance?? How DISRESPECTFUL can people be?? I mean, if I didn't enjoy a band who just happened to be performing on a concert or at a show I was in attendance at, I certainly would not BOO them.... It's kind of like at Times Square the other day. I had a friend who went and he made comments about when the other acts were on and how he ignored em and acted like they were nonexistant etc etc (he knows better than to say that about BJ to me! lol)... I'm not a fan of Eve and Alicia or much of an Enrique fan, but I jammed to them anyways! It's a respect thing. They were there for the people - the people need to respect that fact, and if the performance doesn't interest them, keep it to yourself....
If it was sound issues that led to the booes, I can understand being upset, but will BOOING make the sound any better? Some people are so rude... :( Bouncin', Sara |
In Philly the Eagles fans booed Santa Claus so it doesn't surprise me. Actually, watching it on TV I didn't notice it- just thought the sound was bad. I had just come home from Times Square and knew how great they sounded there.
