Yeah. Remedy rocks.

Adrian

spunkywho 07-09-2005 01:30 AM

how is the rest of that Seether album?

Adrian 07-09-2005 02:18 AM

I don't have it...I'm not a huge Seether fan. Remedy and Broken are the only songs of theirs that I like, and I can't stand Gasoline.

Might check some song lyrics for Karma And Effect, see what looks good, and download a few.

what? What's WMUWSE???

I am starting to really like Seether and will have to go out of my way to get their album. Just saw the video for one of their songs (title escapes me, but the video has all these people with billboards in their hands) - love the video - love it - which I don't say about a lot of videos.

Oh, and 'Doesn't Remind Me' is fab. :)

Adrian 07-22-2005 03:20 AM

WMUWSE = Wake Me Up When September Ends. 8)

Haven't heard Doesn't Remind Me since that one time. I wonder if it'll be like Broken Wings.

All good things must come to an end, unfortunately. I've decided not to continue updating the chart listings...school, work, and just wanting to do other stuff online is the reason. Perhaps if Bon Jovi makes any of the charts I'll track their progress.

I'll still update the news - there are a lot of great songs coming out, and it will never be a problem to post "hey, have you heard XYZ" and discuss the merits of that song.

Check out Theory Of A Deadman's new single Hello Lonely (Walk Away From This Again). Great song, but they edited out pretty much all the verses. And not because they were foul, but because someone thought they took up too much time. Too bad, awesome song.

Just to let everybody know, Nickelback's got a new single out called "Photograph." It's from their new disc "All The Right Reasons" coming out October 4th. I don't hold out much hope for their new disc. While it seems like they're going in a more pop direction (thank goodness), from what I've heard, there are at least 2 songs in the "Figured You Out" vein on it. If so, I'll be downloading it so I can edit out the stuff I don't want.

The song's semi-biographical, about teenagers and the situations they're in and the mistakes they make. Reminds me slightly of The Boss's "Glory Days." Musically, it's very similar to "Someday." Y'all go and check it out now.

On a related note, one of Chad Kroeger's side projects, Canadian rock band Default has a new single called "Count On Me" from their disc "One Thing Remains" (Alter Bridge inspired?). Great song.

I have a suspicion I may have heard NB's new song a couple times while I was on holiday. How does the chorus go?

Adrian 08-14-2005 06:34 PM

Lyrics to "Photograph" by Nickelback:

Look at this Photograph
Every time I do it makes me laugh
How did our eyes get so red
And what the hell is on Joey’s head
This is where I grew up
I think the present owner fixed it up
I never knew we ever went without
The second floor is hard for sneakin’ out
And this is where I went to school
Most of the time had better things to do
Criminal record says I broke in twice
I must’ve done it half a dozen times
I wonder if it’s too late
Should I go back and try to graduate
Life's better now than it was back then
If I was them I wouldn't let me in
Oh oh oh
Oh God I

Every memory of lookin’ out the back door
I got the photo album spread out on my bedroom floor
It’s hard to say it
Time to say it
Goodbye
Goodbye
Every memory of walkin’ out the front door
I found the photo of the friend that I was lookin’ for
It’s hard to say it
Time to say it
Goodbye
Goodbye

Remember the old arcade
Blew every dollar that we ever made
The cops hated us hangin’ out
They say somebody went and burned it down
We used to listen to the radio
And sing along with every song we’d know
We said someday we’d find out how it feels
To sing to more than just the steering wheel
Kim’s the first girl I kissed
I was so nervous that I nearly missed
She’s had a couple of kids since then
I haven’t seen her since God knows when
Oh oh oh
Oh God I

Every memory of lookin’ out the back door
I got the photo album spread out on my bedroom floor
It’s hard to say it
Time to say it
Goodbye
Goodbye
Every memory of walkin’ out the front door
I found the photo of the friend that I was lookin’ for
It’s hard to say it
Time to say it
Goodbye
Goodbye

I miss that time
I miss the faces
You can’t erase
You can’t replace it
I miss it now
I can’t believe it
So hard to stay
Too hard to leave it

If I could relive those days
I know the one thing that would never change...

Every memory of lookin’ out the back door
I got the photo album spread out on my bedroom floor
It’s hard to say it
Time to say it
Goodbye
Goodbye
Every memory of walkin’ out the front door
I found the photo of the friend that I was lookin ‘for
It’s hard to say it
Time to say it
Goodbye
Goodbye

Look at this Photograph
Every time I do it makes me laugh
Every time I do it makes me...

Thanks. I don't know if its the same song or not though. It did sound like Chaddy boy's voice, but then a lot of modern rock singers sound similar

Adrian 08-14-2005 09:20 PM

I'll guess and say it was probably Theory Of A Deadman. Every song they do sounds like Nickelback. Check out www.theoryofadeadman.com for some clips of their songs, see if any sound familiar.

Captain Walrus 08-15-2005 02:18 AM

Yeah, I know some TOADM stuff(Make Up Your Mind and Invisible Man) but I never really liked them, seemed to be a bit of a NB ripoff to me ... and now I don't even like NB as much I once did, now that I've discovered their musical fathers, Pearl Jam. Still can't really remember the song I heard while on Holiday, so couldn't tell you if its TOADM or not.

Are you gonna buy NB's new album? Dunno if I will. I really liked them 2 to 3 years ago, bought 3 albums (The State, Silver Side and Long Road), and saw em live once (with Default supporting, still listen to their Wasting My Time song occasionly), but like I said, gone off them a bit now. Maybe I'll give their albums another listen, see if Photograph's any good, and decide when it comes to it.

Adrian 08-15-2005 04:14 PM

I may buy All The Right Reasons, but only after checking the lyrics. If we wind up with a CD full of "Figured You Out"s, not a chance, I'll download the clean stuff. If it just has a handful of those type of songs, I'll download the whole thing and clean it up myself.

Photograph debuted on the Mainstream Rock chart at #28, and shot to #9 its second week with a listing of "Airpower." Or "Greatest Gainer." I forget.

I wasn't going to do this again, but it keeps sucking me back in!

Becky 08-20-2005 11:12 PM

I finally heard PART of Photograph on the radio and loved what I heard. :)

GOOD! Cause somebody has got to :)

Adrian 08-21-2005 05:54 PM

^^^I'll just be doing it for select songs. Anything Bon Jovi and Nickelback for example. Possibly Theory Of A Deadman too. But nowhere near as many as I used to.

Does Photograph remind anyone else of the fall season? I listen to it and I'm almost instantly transported to afternoons/evenings in October. Dark skies, not too cold yet, orange leaves still mostly on the trees...ok, I'm done waxing poetic now.

decent enough music, could do with MUCH better lyrics.

What, Photograph? I heard it today and would be inclined to say that its the other way round....

Dave 1986 08-23-2005 07:30 PM

Saw the video for photograph yesterday in a pub of all places. I liked what I heard, but I'll need another listen without half a dozen half-drunk blokes jabbering away.

It seems only like last week I first heard Someday.

Adrian 08-26-2005 06:51 PM

Nickelback's new single "Photograph" is up to #5 on the mainstream chart. Heard it on a pop station today...nowhere near as good. They cut out more than half of the bridge and the song sounds softer, not recorded softer, but like the DJ is playing it through a wall of cotton balls or something. Maybe they did record it softer for pop stations, I dunno.

Nickelback's new single Photograph is listed at #3 on the mainstream rock chart, and last week debuted at #28 on the adult top 40 chart. On AT40, it's up to #20 and listed as "Airpower."

It'll do well, but I don't think the pop version is anywhere near as good as the rock version.

Adrian

Edit:Oh yeah, it's #20 on the modern rock chart as well.

Adrian 09-03-2005 07:01 PM

Just watched the video on launch.com. Good, but not great. A little confusing I thought. And it's too bright (color and emotion-wise), too happy-go-lucky. Photograph is a rather depressing song, and the emotional tempo of the video is neutral to bright.

Adrian

Captain Walrus 09-04-2005 08:38 PM

I don't see it as being a depressing song, just kinda ... wistful. I actually really like the lyrics of the verses

Adrian 09-05-2005 04:27 AM

Wistful yes...but the chorus and bridge are depressing "It's hard to say it/Time to say it/Goodbye" and "I miss the time/I miss the faces/You can't erase/You can't replace it/I miss it now/I can't believe it/So hard to stay/Too hard to leave it." I find that to be quite sad.

And yes, the verses are very cool. I like how they rhymed a lot of it. The verses are extremely wistful.

Just incase it hasn't been posted here, the release dates for the UK are:-

All The Right Reasons - October 3rd
Photograph single - September 26th

JoviGirl 09-09-2005 03:45 PM

It's a meaningful video because they shot it in their hometown of Hanna, Alberta. I think it's very cool that they came back to their roots for the song and video.

Anyone notice the song titles from the album include "Photograph" as well as "Animals"? Reminds me of Def Leppard.

Dave 1986 09-12-2005 11:02 PM

Is it me or are they just not playing that video at all in the UK? I've only seen it twice, once on Chartshow or watever its called and I caught the last bit of it on B4. Ah well, the single is out next Monday.

Lol I just realised that to. Just glad there's nothing on there called I Wanna Touch U

Adrian 09-12-2005 11:51 PM

Photograph is up to 18 on the Modern Rock chart, 3 on the Mainstream Rock chart, and 18 (Greatest Gainer) on the Adult Top 40 chart. Also, BJ's Have A Nice Day is 19 (Airpower) on AT40 as well.

Are you kidding me? I've seen it hundreds of times! Mostly on Kerrang and Scuzz

Funnily enough later that day when I made the post, I heard it on Kerrang! radio and then saw the video twice; once on Scuzz then again on The Box. Maybe it WAS just me.

Love the song and the video though.

Adrian 09-19-2005 11:56 PM

Photograph is creeping ever so slowly up the modern chart. It's at #17 right now. It's up to #2 on the mainstream chart and #14 on the Adult Top 40.

Have A Nice Day is at #17 on the AT40, and needs only 3 more notches to go to eclipse Misunderstood as the best-performing BJ song since it's my life. I think.
