Sacked from work for using the Internet
 

Well, suspended, pending an investigation. And I suppose I am guilty, usually being on Dry County :P

Does anyone know what happens in terms of getting a reference for another job from a sacked company? I know that they must give a "positive" reference so does this mean that they cant say I was sacked or something? thats if they do sack me.

Good news is that I am full pay still until proven guilty, so I get to enjoy a summer off :twisted:

Your right they cannot give a bad reference but they can decline to give a reference which is just as bad as having a bad reference.Sorry mate how long have you worked there

About 2 years, so if they do give a reference, they cant say I was sacked then?

Its unlikely they'll give u a reference if u were sacked.

Either that, or it'd be - good worker, but spends too much time on the internet....

Sorry to hear it, that is bad news.
They don't have to give you a reference and they don't have to give a positive one if they do, they can leave it quite ambigously. If I was you, I wouldn't put them down as a reference, as in the next company can phone them. I would also leave the reason that you left as open as possible; don't actually say you were fired, but you can say that there were differences of opinion. But will they actually fire you? Usually companies will avoid that and just give you the option to leave - as in, you will!!
