Squirrel helps police crack case

The squirrel was rewarded with a handful of nuts

Police investigating a burglary in Bath had an unusual ally - in the form of a law-abiding grey squirrel.
Officers said that a squirrel near a burgled garage appeared to be beckoning them to follow by running off and checking continually that they were still behind.

The squirrel's trail led police to a tree, behind which were hidden the four boxes of stolen crockery and a box of LPs.

A spokeswoman for Avon and Somerset Police said the officers gave the squirrel a handful of nuts as a reward.

Tree climbing

She said officers were called to a garage at Twerton at 0120 BST, where they arrested a 29-year-old man on suspicion of burglary.

When they returned to the scene later that morning, the squirrel was sitting in front of the garage.

A police spokeswoman said: "The squirrel scampered down the path and kept stopping and looking at the officers to check they were behind.

"They followed it for about 100 yards before the squirrel climbed up a tree - and around the tree were these boxes of loot.

"We apprehended a burglar and recovered stolen goods with the help of a squirrel."

I'm suprised no-ones mentioned me yet, lol.

Does no-one else think that the squirell was possibly running away from the police, and it kept turning around to see if they where still following, so it could stop running. lol

How did I know that this was going to be brought up, again?!  I can't believe it!!

During Pennsylvania Free Enterprise Week, during the rain, Moosie and I were walking from our dorms to Pennington Lounge (we were at Lycoming College for the week) and as we walked under a tree an acorn fell right on my head. Of course, it hurt, and I'm like, "OW! An acorn just fell on my head!" (Moosie) "Are you sure?" (Me) "It bounced!" There was this guy walking behind us looking like he was having the most terrible time of his life, and he just started laughing.. I'm glad I was able to make his day a little brighter!

Not to mention that a squirrel seemed to be following me around the rest of my stay there. So, of course the squirrel must have wanted to harm me and threw that acorn on my head. I even caught it in the act, and took pictures of it climbing a tree! Then on the way home, I saw a squirrel on the sidewalk, and now I am paranoid of squirrels.
