How did livin in sin sound electric?

I am very curious how it did sound at giants and at hartford, was it any good?

I thought it sounded great at Giants. I was just so happy to hear it. But Jon sang it well. After I get the DVD, I can check for sure.

I heard it in both places. It was such a surprise at Hartford that we were not sure what it was when Tico first started the drumbeat. I think I'd have to give the Hartford performance a slight edge but only because it was a much smaller venue and everyone was closer to the stage. The audience in Hartford (at least around where I was sitting) didn't seem to appreciate it much - but I sure did. And I thought the electric arrangement was quite effective. Certainly it worked better at Giants than an acoustic would have.

It's funny you said this Kathleen...I only recognized it right off the bat cuz I just finished listening to a live version from back in 1990 (Chile, I think??) and remembered that drumbeat at the beginning! It's almost military sounding....or marching band sounding. Kind of hard to describe. But otherwise, it would have definitely taken me a few minutes to figure out what it was! Overall, it was GREAT to hear that one...also "I'd Die for You". Was that Thurs. or Fri.'s show? Both nights are all still a blur to me, but one was rainy and one wasn't! LOL! :D

Oh Amy - I was thinking of you on Thursday night. To come all the way from Texas to get completely soaked - Geeze. Fortunately Friday night was not a repeat weather performance. The weather here this summer has been very wet - but considering the heat that everyone else seems to be getting, I'm not going to complain (too much).
One of the comments that I made after the Hartford concert was that it was a great dress rehersal for Giants. It turned out to be the case for night 2 anyway.

Oh Kathleen, you know, I was so freakin' worried about the RAIN before I left! Worried myself into a frenzy! I purposely avoided watching the forecast cuz I knew what it was going to say!! I even searched all over down here for emergency ponchos at the last minute! But you know what??? I LOOOOVED the rain! It was so awesome! I wouldn't have had it any other way, actually. It made it...unique...gave it some character. I remember during KTF, the line that goes, "you know you're gonna live through the rain!!!", I just looked up at it all coming down and it was so awesome. Gives me chills to think about it now!!! And as long as it wasn't stopping Jon and the band, it wasn't stopping me! :D Definitely an unforgettable night. But, I do have to say, I'm glad it didn't rain on Friday too! He he!

It sounded great at both shows. I thought it sounded a little better in Hartford but, as Kathleen said, that probably had a lot to do with the venue. And even though it wasn't a total surprise for me (Jon made a big deal about pointing at one of the signs someone had for it and giving a thumbs up and winking and nodding earlier in the show so I sort of knew they'd play it) it was so awesome to hear the electric version for the first time. :) Unfortunately a lot of other people didn't seem to know what it was. :(

Just out of curiosity, what kind of a reaction did Living In Sin get in Kiel?

I thought I read it somewhere else too that the overall reaction to songs like Living In Sin, Something To Believe In, I'd Die For You and Diamond Ring etc wasn't really all THAT spectactular at the US shows. The die-hards (=people from the Backstage Board basically) were over the moon for them of course, but the majority of the crowd were not really into them at all. Have I understood things wrong, or was it actually that way over there?

in Kiel the reaction was amazing. of course i was in the pit so i can mostly speak for people around me... but i think the whole audience loved it, not just the pit. although something to believe in got a slightly more powerful reaction

In Philly the reaction was a lot different than Giants. Philly crowd was a bit tame, but at Giants everyone was going nuts. New Jersey band, New Jersey crowd, always a great show no matter what they sing. :D
