Virus Alert!

Just incase you haven't heard about the latest virus that's going around. I thought I'd warn everyone just incase.

I got this e-mail from McAfee Security;

Dear Will,

A new variant of W32/Sobig, W32/Sobig.f@MM is a High Risk mass-mailing worm. It arrives as an email attachment with a .pif or .scr extension. When run, it infects the host computer, then emails itself (using its own SMTP engine) to harvested email addresses from the victim's machine. In addition, when it propagates, the worm "spoofs" the "from: field", using one of the harvested email addresses.

Note: The worm copies itself onto the infected machine as: C:\WINNT\WINPPR32.EXE

Caution: An infected email can come from addresses you recognize and may contain the following information:

There are certain file extensions that you should NEVER open - even if you haven't been warned.

.vbp - visual basic project
.scr - script files or screensaver
.bat - batch files

If you are not sure what a file extension is, the best choice is not to open it. You can go here to check out the definition of any file type:

I don't open most file attachments unless they're .gif or .jpeg. I won't open .exe attachments even though their pretty common.

I already got 100 of those emails today. I created a rule that emails with subject as listed in your post should be deleted right away. So no bother for me anymore. When I checked my mail this morning I got 54 ! :shock:

Another one: :mad:

Tell all your MSN Messenger contacts to not accept the: "th_baz@hotmail.com"! It's a virus!! :evil: And if one of your friends accept the contact your PC get the virus too!!! :shock: :shock:

Hurry up, people!

Kisses,(Beijovis,)
