About tour and money
People say the main reason for the band not coming to South America, Africa, Asia (some parts) and Australia is the money.....
But in this semester in Brazil we had/will have concerts of: Helloween, Stratovarious, Metallica, The Calling, Coldplay, Deep Purple, Hellicopters..... and all of them are "less" popular here than Bon Jovi, so I donīt think money is the main reason. |
They're just being lazy bastards

And also, I had the SAME reaction when I heard that Silverchair, who I thought was only known in Australia, played at Rock In Rio!!! On top of that, people knew all of their songs! It seems rock is alive and kicking in Brazil. :D  |
rock's always been alive in brazil and bands such as iron maiden, deep purple, wakeman and english rock ensemble, knoppfler, clapton (i think), dio, page and plant, satriani/vai/dream theater have visited often
rock in rio is one of THE rock festivals (imo = THE) Australia i don't think has the appeal to most rock acts that south america has. Even when bands such as springsteen (the once), bon jovi etc have played there the tours tend to be kept very small... perhaps just 2 big cities Silverchair i hated from the first listen from the rock in rio tv broadcast and i'm glad i've not had to see them open for UK rock shows hellacopters yes, though i didn't know about stratovarius... but basically any bands like that (manowar, maiden, strat.) can play South America because their music is appealing to the rock culture there BJ don't play Aus/S.A/Asia/Africa in my opinion because there sound is not as fitting for the culture anymore... certainly not enough to play stadiums |
I know I would be very depressed if the band wouldn't visit an area near my place ... Cause the best thing about a band is to see them perform live !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And it's not only the performance of the band, but the atmosphere around it and to meet the people who love the whole thing too :) I got to know some folks on the concert here and am longing for the next one to see everyone again + meet more :):):) It could be about the money but as you said ... they could easily make money out of it ... Think it's more then that but honestly I don't really know what it is ... And I guess that's even more depressing |
Yeah, the metal scene here is really big, but Bon Jovi could easily sold out 4 or 5 concerts here, Red Hot came in the beggining of the year and played for more than 45.000 in Sao Paulo, just a solo concert not a festival.....
and about Stratovarious they made their biggest solo concert ever in Sao Paulo  |

i don't think they'd sell an Indian concert out personally... depending on the size of course of the venue
