Warning Amazon Books

I don't know if anyone uses amazon but i think anyone who does should boycott them!!!!!!!! read the article from a UK newspaper today!!!!

Anyone want to bombard them with mails too????

Having had two people very close to me molested by one of these evil gits i campaign very strongly against them and believe that they should be given the death sentence and not put back in the community, they should not be given a chance!!!! And then this happens, almost encouraging it! How can they say it will let parents UNDERSTAND!!! will the parents of Sarah Payne, the parents of the Soham girls, the endless list of people who have been affected by these dirty evil people!

THE SUN NEWSPAPER UK 26/08/03

A VILE best-seller which praises paedophiles should be banned, protesters demanded last night.

The £6.50 book, Understanding Loved Boys and Boylovers, is a top-seller on books website Amazon.

Author David L Riegel supports sex with under-age boys.

And one extract reads: “Men who sexually pursue young boys are not monsters but are instead sincere, concerned, loving human beings who simply have a sexual orientation that is neither understood nor accepted by most others.”

Riegel also claims research has failed to prove “such activities” are harmful.

The book is available on amazon.com — used by millions of Britons.

It has sold so many copies that it ranks among the top one per cent of the site’s 300,000-plus titles.

Amazon chiefs refuse to drop it, saying: “People have the right to choose their own material.”

Reviews on the site include some from perverts who claim to have been “enlightened”.

One wrote: “It attempts to shed light on the positive aspects of a healthy boy/male relationship.”

Another said: “It may help parents to understand there may be benefits to such relationships.”

But one critic wrote: “It is intended to convince those who dislike paedosexuality that it is a healthy lifestyle choice.”

Norman Brennan, of the Victims of Crime Trust, called the American book an insult to molested children and urged people to boycott it.

Child protection groups say predators can easily get hold of the book.

Tim Wildmon, of the American Family Association, said: “For Amazon to sell a book justifying such actions is irresponsible and repulsive.”

I use Amazon sometimes, but I wouldn't stop buying from them just because of 1 product they sell. I'm suprised it even got published, let alone released, but 1 product isn't a reason to stop me from buying items such as DVD's from them.

Pretty positive that everyone's entitled to their opinion, as is the author of this book

I have to agree with Thomas on this one. I am repulsed by the man who wrote that book, and the thousands of people who have actually payed money to read it... but I would never boycott a company like Amazon, with such a wide variety of products on sale, for one mistake. And is it even really a mistake to allow people to buy that book? I mean, isn't that what freedom of speech is all about? And, if anyone would read that book and turn to pedophealia, or gain any respect for it, then they are stupid, weak people who should grow some brains.

I think men that abuse children (boys and girls) and yes - most abusers are men - should be harshly punished. On the other hand - I do not believe in censorship in any way, shape or form. I would not buy the book but I think they should be able to sell it if they choose.
This issue has come up over nazi books that have shown up on Amazon and I still say the same - I hate the book but I defend your right to sell it.
I know - Damn Americans - but still - no censorship!

Would also like to point out that IMO, the fact that nearly all child molesting is forced upon the child (I'm sure there are cases where it isn't) is the real crime... yeah, they're children and it is pretty sick if you think about it, but if someone just happens to be sexually attracted to children, does that make them evil? Or just a different orientation? Where's the difference between them and gay people? The crime in child molesting is that children are incapable of proper consenting... its really no different to rape

Keep On Rockin'

ps. I'm well aware that that was very confusing.... I know what I'm trying to say, I just don't have a clue how to say it

So you think if a child consented, it would be OK for the paedophiles to do it?

amazon is fine for me, they deliver the good pretty quickly.

No, because the child isn't old enough to know full well what consenting would mean. But my point is, people who do have a sexual attraction to young children are not necessarily evil

It depends on if they act on that attraction or not. It is evil to grab a child and rape them, no matter what you feel about them.
