If you don't like Richie's voice...

I know a few people on here aren't big fans of Richie's voice. So I was wondering, could you imagine Jon singing one of Richie's songs? Would you like the song any better if Jon sang it? What do you think of the Bon Jovi version of Rosie with Jon on lead vocals?

Just want to know what the other side thinks.

Yeah, I can imagine Jon singing most of Richie's songs. I don't think they'd be vocally challenging for him. He could hit all the notes and carry all the tunes. The thing about Jon's voice is that it's SO versatile. He can sing a heavy rock song or a bombastic ballad or a flowing mid-tempo song, or a country duet or the old standards or hold his own with Pavoratti. He has a versatility that most singers do not. For instance, as amazing as Celine Dion's range is, do you think she could effectively deliver It's My Life? Could Pavoratti sing Bad Medicine?

The only time Jon tackled a song that was not his own and sounded BAD (and I do mean BAD) was when he sang at the Ford Theater for the President. I believe it was RESPECT and Try a Little Tenderness. Someone needs to inform both Jon and Richie that neither of them are old black men because neither of them can do that style well. Otherwise, Jon can wrap his voice around just about anything.

Richie's voicie is ten times better than Jon's. it has more soul. I don't know if Jon could sing "rest in peace" with the same feeling.

I don't think that Jon could sing songs like The Answer and quite a few other songs of Richie. Technically he could of course but it wouldn't sound very good.

Therefore I can't imagine Richie singing songs like Always or Open all night. He sang TAALS during the soundcheck in Nürnberg 1998 but unfortunately I missed it because I was too late. I'd love to hear how it sounds with Richie's voice, if I hate it as much as with Jon's voice. Meaning, if it's really the song I don't like or just the way Jon sings it.

Richie's voice is boring. I can't explain why, but there is no depth. I like him better as a backup or blues singer, not a rock n roll singer.:D

I think Jons voice could cope with most of Richies songs. Id love to hear him sing one light burning.

and I think Rosie sounds much better sung by Jon, I dont dislike Richies voice I just prefer Jon's on that song. Have to say Richies voice has grown on me since hearing him singing live in the summer, he made il be there for you one of the hightlights of the shows. :)

I take it you didn't hear Jon perform Say It Isn't So live during the Crush or OWN tours. He can hit high notes. There's nothing on Richie's CDs that would be vocally challenging for Jon. Jon has much more depth, style, color, flavor, and personality in his voice. He can deliver an emotion with the words and reach my heart in a way few other singers do.

You forgot the words "In my opinion". Because other people have another opinion. Esp.when it comes to ballads.
