Touring and Family Commitments

I know how the touring has now been scaled down due to family commitments and the guys wanting to be home with their wives and families, which I completely understand and don't question. What I do found weird, how much we hear that the guys don't want to tour as much because of family but now that they are home, they are still as busy as ever. Why don't they just relax and be with their families now?

They are busy now with the football team, promoting this team and go on all these interviews, they were just in the studio and now ready to release This Left Feels Right and the box set (which is fantastic for us), Jon has his movie that he is going to start to film and so he will be busy with that and so why don't they just spend the time with their family?? I hear all the time that the guys don't want to tour long because of their kids. Now that they have the time to be with their kids, they are still busy. So is the kids the only reason why they don't tour long now or is there something else?? Maybe they are just getting older now and can't handle it anymore.

I think they know us fans and fear what we would do if they took a longer break

no, I think they are running quite well at the moment and don't want to do another comeback, pausing now(hope you know what I mean)
might be that the Record company pushes it a little bit forward, too

just my thoughts

You do realize that Philly is not that far from Jersey, right? Jon spending a few days there on business is not like spending a few weeks in Europe on tour while his kids are in school. Chances are Richie and Heather brought Ava with them to Philly--and if they didn't they weren't away from her for a long time. When Jon has worked on movies in the past, he's often brought his family with him for the duration or for several weeks of filming. If he films in the NY area, he's not far from home anyway. Touring is harder on the kids than it is on the adults and it's not a picnic for the adults. Jon has talked about how there's a comfort in being able to sleep in your own bed at night, and if not your OWN bed, at least the same bed for a while.

Just because they are 'busy' doesn't mean they aren't getting time with their families. They aren't working 24 hours a day, and they are probably home a damn sight more than when touring. When they say that they don't want huge tours because of family, they mean that they won't tour to the same extent that they did on Slippery/NewJersey/KTF - all monster 18 month+ tours. These days they tour for a month or so, then a month off. Not taxing at all. They maybe giving us a new album soon, but Jon has said that there won't be a tour, and the boxset isn't going to take much on their part either. Jon may have a film to work on, but what do you think they are going to do??? Sit at home everyday and wait for their kids to come home from school?? Everyone needs a hobby, Jon has often stated that films are his.

If all you have ever done is worked 24 /7 its hard to know when and how to stop. They sleep when they are dead!!!!!!!!

Im sure their kids get more time with them now than ever .

Don't you people who have kids here work too? :) :)
Seriously, Becky is right- Philly is 90 minutes from home for Jon. I travel that distance often for work and am back by my kids' school bus. The recording goes on at home. Touring can take them away for weeks. That is a big difference. My husband travels for his business and sometimes he is away two weeks and that is tough enough on the kids.

I wouldnt lose too much sleep over how much time Jon's getting with his kids. As people have said he's still living at home whilst carrying out commitments.
