Oh well, the Kerrang! review....

Howdy

I suppose we had to expect it, Bon Jovi not being Slipknot/Puddle of Mudd. Kerrang! have reviewed 'Bounce' (if you can call it a review), giving it 2 K's (2/5). I mean, I don't mind bad reviews, I can accept people not liking the album, but read this (I can be bothered to type it out because of the fact it's so short):

"Jon Bon Jovi is 40 years old. His band have sold 92 million albums in the 18 years since their debut was released. And still the machine rolls on, partly because Jon's acting career never really made headlines, but mostly because Bon Jovi, like contemporaries U2, can't give up the thrill of being one of the biggest rock bands on Earth.

'Bounce', their eighth album, is no match for the classic 'Slippery When Wet', but it's a model of Stadium rock. The single, 'Everyday', has the same anthemic quality as 2000's 'IML' and on the title-track, Jon almost says 'f**k'. That'll be 100 million sales by Christmas, then."

Well, anyone surprised?

Somehow these reviews remind me of one age-old truth -- those who can sing or play just do it...and those who can't, either teach it or make a living telling those who can do it how it should be done. In other words, criticise it.

It's a shame Kerrang's format has changed somewhat. For a while Jon was on the cover about once a month. LOL (For those unaware, it's a weekly mag and I'm only exaggerating a little.)

Im not shocked its just more of the usual, the album hasnt got good reviews, its a good job the fans dont base whether they should buy it on the stupid comments.

critics review albums, they are called critics because they criticise things, the critic for kerrang was probably a 19 year old spicky haired slipknot fan or just someone who dosnt like bon jovi. when bj first come on to the scene critics said they would not make it, who was wrong? :!:

who said Kerrang was a good newspaper?

justme 09-18-2002 07:55 PM

LOL, I didn't even know that magazine was still in business. I saw Circus Mag the other day in the grocery store and couldn't beleive the crappy bands they were writing about.

I can't tell slipknot from drowning pool, hoobastank, or all those other screaming idiots whose songs are nothing but drawn out complaints.

Please, give me a melody and something I can sing along to.

Like I've said before. I like what I like and I don't care what anyone else thinks. I will ahve my own opinion on Bounce when it's realeased. I kinda agree that the band won't do an album that was as good as Slippery though. It happens with all bands after they have had their first hit album. I'm not saying that the albums after the hit album are not as good, but they don't seem to make the same impact.

WE should be greatful. Kerrang dave Def Leppards latest 1 out of 5!
I can't believe it's such a small and pointless review.
Not so long ago it would have been a page long!

Howdy again

Just going back to what Becky said, can anyone remember when These Days was voted Kerrang! album of the year, and Bon Jovi scooped nearly every single award Kerrang! had? Something For The Pain won best video, they won Best Band too. They're almost embarrassed to have Bon Jovi in the magazine now....

Not only that, but.... although I haven't heard the album yet, the general impression I get is that it's better than Crush. Kerrang! actually gave Crush 4/5. Strange.... :?
