computery people: why did this happen
k i'd just done half an exercise for my economics tutorial tomorrow on word and some diagrams on paint. anyways my computer that was probably knocked together round about the end of the Napoleanic War decided it would crash.
i've kicked it back up expe3ctign to have to start from scratch but when i opened up word it was all there still. lost the diagrams on paint but they were shit anyways. not complaining by any stretch of the imagination but i was just wondering exactly why it didn't disappear whent he computer shut down. |
when a computer crashes, the system saves what it can of the piece of work that you were working on at that time. kind of a backup but i wouldn't rely on it because it doesn't often give you back your original work. picture files etc will be the first to be lost.

MS Word uses and auotsave feature, which can be configured in a menu somwhere, so it saves work automatically every so often in case of such an emergency.
|
did it say Retrieved at the top of the file when you reopened?
|
yeah it says recovered. good stuff man cos there was no way i was re doing it again.
