an opinion about image in the media

just wanting to know what everyone thinks about this.

k everyone is always going on about how models set bad examples too people being skinny and not eating etc... blah blah blah

then along comes the fat birds from pop idol, sonia from eastenders etc... and they're praised.

now if u ask me i don't think people being obese should be applauded considering how vulgar and un healthy it is so does anyoen think its a bit hypocritical?

what im getting at is that lookign like kate moss and lookign like michelle from pop idol r 2 very different extremes. neither are healthy neither look good so then why is it acceptable to be fat and its not acceptable to be really skinny?

Why can't we all just let people be who they wanna be, then we'd all be happy.

thats all well and good but the point i'm bringing up is that really skinny people get attacked for being bad role models whereas its somehow acceptable to be massivly overweight.

i mean as an example the 2 fat birds on pop idol r getting massive support for nothing other than them being big and goign against usual pop ideals.

they don't have a chance of winning due to A: they're not great singers and there's very few of the there that are and B: u can't market someone huge as a pop product, i know, u know and simon cowell and BMG certainly know it and the only reason they're in the finals is to keep the moaners at bay.

but still people are phoning in in droves because they're big girls and are somehow deserving of our support for nothing other than that

So you think Sonia from Eastenders is fat???

The winner of US Idol was a big guy. If it wasn't for people like you Jim labelling people vulgar and unmarketable this topic wouldn't even be an issue.

they are fat u can't deny that fact. all i'm pointing out is that really skinny people who also look vulgar get attacked whereas heavier people get sympathy and i don't hink it's right.

You can't look down on skinny people for being unhealthy and setting bad examples then praise fat people on the telly

she's lost alot of weight and she's by no means obese so maybe she was a bad example but u can't deny the 2 girls on pop idol just now are seriously overweight.

and im in no way making an anti fat people stance im merely lookign at the hypocracy of it all.

I actually agree with you about the girls form Pop idol. Theyre not pop idols, good singers though. The one with the blonde hair whose slightly smaller has a better personality though I think she could make it in the music business but not as a pop idol.

People should weigh what's good for them. Some people have larger constitutions than others and are quickly labelled as obese, when in fact they're not. Same in the other extreme. Some people are apparently sknny and easily labelled as anorexic when it's just their constitution.

I think people are way to obsessed about all this stuff, and it's creating lots of mental problems in a lot of them.
